If you had to choose between the Stradic FK 5000 or the Saragosa SW 5000, which one would it be? I'm looking to purchase one of the two. Going to be pairing it up with a 7'6 Star Rod Seagis (10-20). Looking to use it for inshore/nearshore fishing. haven't decided whether to load it with 15 or 20 braid. On paper the Stradic seems better. I'm torn between the two reels because I already have 3000FK and a 6000SW. Help me out JandH.

X-ship is NOT how Shimano aranges it's gearing together with bearings for smother retrieve, it's a redisign of gears to make axis of their axles closer so that loss of power is reduced (they say by 25%) and enlargement of gears (they say by 20%), and the bearings have been around gears for decades...

Is the Stradic FK 5000 smaller than the Saragosa? I have a 5000 FJ and it is paired with a Crowder ess712 12-25 and it is light and pretty small. Would the 5000 fk and the tidemaster be able to throw a 2 oz lure?

+jandhtackle ya sinkers from 4oz to 9oz and the body sizes are the same between 5000 and 6000 right there's really not much of a purpose of buying the 5000 because I do a decent amount of sharking out of jones inlet and when we go we sometimes see mahi and the 6000 is good enough to use for them to right

@jandhtackle I'm considering the Saragosa 5000 or the Stradic 5000 for a 7'0" tidemaster. I'm kayak fishing for large striped bass what would you suggest?

I guess you can have 2 slightly different reels by buying the 5000 model and the 6000 spare spool that will fit the 5000 model. The 5000 should have a little bit more torque and the 6000 a bit more casting distance.
I thought the width of the spools of the 5000/6000 were the same but the 6000 only smaller at the axle but the 6000 is actually a bit wider. You can see a bigger gap between spool and rotor. Nice!
Let's order another Shimano reel without even testing it out in a store haha After all the Xship upgrades all reels are fantastic!! I read a great review of somebody submerging it in a bucket of water for half a day and spinning it occasionally. And after taking it apart no water anywhere!
If you want a lightweight spin reel the Rarenium Ci4+ FB is almost unbeatable! The 4000 model is sooooo light with only 250 grams and sooooo smooth, you wonder if there are any gears in there!
