Its a good idea to make sure you can loosen the fill plug before removing the drain plug....Just in case, it could be a big problem for a DIY guy.

Mine is a 2007 EL and it took about 2.25 Qts. Transmission code is 16, which is an open transmission. Both plugs relatively easy to get off. At 175k miles there were some shavings on the plug magnets but not bad. I used the Valvoline 75W-140 gear oil. My vehicle’s manual essentially says it is a lifetime oil unless certain conditions apply (submerged the transaxle) but I think it makes sense to change as I want it to last a lot longer.

I was looking at my expedition and wanted to remove the back plate just to install a new gasket but it seem harded than the normal differential since it looks to be conected all together with the frame of the car not like other vehicles where the differential its just exposed? Any ideas i havnt found a video explaining how to remove it with this kind of diff

@@whissguzman8740 I don’t know about that. If it is not leaking though I would be leery about separating it. I would leave well enough alone. But if you do separate it I would suggest having a factory gasket. Maybe that’s the way to study it further; look at the Ford parts diagram.

Make sure you take the fill plug out first in case it's seized on there.

Nice video, I enjoyed the strut video as well. How many miles on the Expy when you did this?

Looking for a video on how to remove the differential cover and replace gasket.

Why? Is it leaking? If it’s not leaking there’s no need.
