I was working, left work very late, driving home, when I saw a billboard about you. When I got up. I made the appointment. Thank God for Dr's like you.
GREAT advice and GREAT video! You have a new subscriber! Thank you for imparting your knowledge with us! I am forever grateful, Dr. Lipman! 💐 I read that the disadvantages of getting a hysterectomy may include premature menopause associated with long-term health risks which also include premature death, osteoporosis, cardiovascular disease, neurological disorders and so on. With all these risks I don't see how anyone can even CONSIDER such a procedure! 🤦♀️ If UFE weren't a choice, I'd wait for menopause to strike so it can be over. Taking Tylenols for pain sound safer than all the ramifications a hysterectomy brings about. 😕
I'm in my mid forties. I have one that is considered pretty large. I am HORRIFIED at the thought of a hysterectomy. After my doctor mentioned the total hysterectomy, I asked her what about a partial hysterectomy and she said "oh that's for young women"😯 . So the fact that maybe as a woman I'd like to keep all my feminine parts or does not want to go through a major surgery doesn't matter to you huh?! Needless to say, I'm looking for another gynecologist as we speak 😑
In my country they do not do a hysterectomy unless your a certain age. If your at "child bearing" age, your options are to live with the torment or have fibroid removal surgery.
I went for a ultrasound on Wednesday to see if i had a ovarian cyst. Turns out i have alot of fibroids. More then the doctor seen before. Wondering what my treatment is. I do have two kids already. Still scared to go under the knife. Will having so many get cured? Or no option to go under the knife
If you are having symptoms, you could consider getting an opinion from an experienced Interventional Radiologist about UFE. Learn more about UFE at ATLii.com.
my only symptoms are a big belly and heavy bleeding. No pain at all. i only want a procedure that will shrink my fibroids and belly so i dont look pregnant. will UFE make my tummy flat again or just soften the fibroids? I'm a skinny woman.
I was told today by a gynecologist oncologist that I have a fibroid on my cervix, he suggested a hysterectomy and recommended that I see a urologist gynecologist for possible surgical procedure. Would your procedure work for a fibroid on cervix?
If it is truly a fibroid, hysterectomy is an option, but so is embolization. Cervical fibroids are harder to treat successfully and if you’re interested in embolization, make sure you get that 2nd opinion from an Interventional Radiologist that is experienced in embolization. Good luck.
No. Acessa is a laparocopic surgical procedure with placing a probe in to a fibroid to cook it. It is experimental procedure and not covered by many insurance companies. Even if covered it is a significantly inferior procedure compared to UFE. UFE has over 25 yrs of proven safety and efficacy. UFE is also covered by all insurances. UFE is nonsurgical, outpatient and importantly treats ALL of the fibroids. You can learn more about fibroids and UFE at ATLii.com
Thank you doc. Great stuff. Unfortunately in my situation, embolization is not an option as fibroids are too large so have to use the watch and wait method. :(
Who said fibroids are too large? Your Gyn or an IR experienced in treating fibroid patients? If Gyn, I’d get a pelvic MRI and get a 2nd opinion from an experienced IR.
@@Atlii Thank you for responding doctor. My gyn said it. My fibroids are about 9cm or so and embolization will not shrink it as much. Watchful waiting more carefully now as they seem to be growing despite entering menopause. :(
@@roxanacordova5861 9cm is not too big for UFE. The success is not about how much the fibroid shrinks but about symptom improvement/resolution. Usually after UFE, there is a significant symptom reduction and significant size reduction but its symptom improvement that matters most. You can expect ~50% size reduction 3 months after UFE, 60-70% size reduction by 6 months-1yr post UFE. Watchful waiting is unnecessary ! Its only going to grow to 10 cm and higher if you dont embolize it. Why should you suffer needlessly. If you’re not being heard find someone who will listen to you. Good luck!
@@Atlii Thank you doctor. I appreciate you sharing this with me and in all honesty, it’s quite disheartening to hear your response at the same time. I was really sold on the idea that my fibroids are just too large for UFE. I’m also told that since I entered the postmenopause stage, watchful waiting is safe as fibroids tend to shrink during this stage. I suppose there is no harm in going for a 3rd opinion and see what the next doctor says. Thanks again for your time.
@@roxanacordova5861 sorry to hear about your situation. I have one just a couple centimeters smaller. Gynecologist is pushing me towards hysterectomy. I DO NOT want to do that. How long did you have one that size before you hit menopause?
I want to have kids. I am a candidate for abdominal surgery and uterine embolisation. I just heard about UFE. Would the UFE procedure allow me to have a child?.... naturally?
Thank God I finally got cured, after 2 years now ❣️💓💓 I appreciate God
I saw you many years ago. I'm so glad I met you. No hysterectomy.

Hey doc,wht are the chances of infection after the procedure
Rare; almost unheard of. More likely to get an infection with open surgery.
