- This video depicts a Twin Troller X10 owner making a casting platform and how to use it. The platform is easy to build but opens up many new and efficient ways to use the platform for fishing and utilizing the boat in many ways. There are detailed instructions of how to build the platform and the supplies you need so you can do it yourself.

Lots of thoughts and details provided throughout this video. What would be a nice addition is for the dimensions and links to be added into the notes for this.
Allen, here is what I find to be a better casting deck and all the specs you want are in this video: th-cam.com/video/-ZI_ESlN5Ug/w-d-xo.html

i know it's kind of off topic but does anybody know of a good place to watch new movies online?
@Koda Kole I watch on FlixZone. Just google for it :)
@Muhammad Dominik yea, I've been using flixzone for since march myself :)
@Muhammad Dominik thanks, I signed up and it seems like they got a lot of movies there :) I really appreciate it !!
Thanks very much for sharing Steve. I have all the wood, paint, deck screws, and Sea Dek material. Ready to assemble as I wait for my TT to be delivered. Just came back to your video to verify the measurements. To each their own, but I like yours better than the full deck, and better than the split casting deck we have seen in other videos. Gerry, I know we all appreciate you sharing your channel with others that have something to contribute.
Great ideas, Jerry! ... Keep it up! ... Like my dad always said, ‘His worst day fishing, was always 10 times better than any day at work?’ ... 😉
Ron, Amen to that! Gerry
Great modification!!! Very useful!
Pete, I agree. Gerry
Very cool! If I end up buying a Twin Troller I will build one of these platforms 1st thing! Great video, Thanks to both of you for makeing and posting it.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Great idea Gerry. I think this guy could sell wood stoves in Mid Summer Florida. He is excited about something that works.
I made one of your casting platforms. Great idea, Thanks.
Jim, I hope you like it. You will see other versions of a casting deck on other of my videos also. Gerry
That shelf is such a great idea ... Kudos
I like the idea of using this as a bench to organize tackle and baits and measure fish and take photos.
I didn't think about taking pictures ... That makes it a necessity ... Especially if you get a really long fish
Safety Sally's! I love it! Great video.
Genius. I love it. Well done, Steve.
This is a great idea. I made mine with composite decking. It’s lighter and glued with 3m 5200. It’s great.
Doug, that is interesting! GERRY
Howabouthetruth After completing it and thoroughly testing it, I decided it was too bouncy. It looks fantastic but too bouncy. Still working on it.
Thanks for the video on the casting platform. I will build one for my boat. I don’t use an extension on my outboard and the platform should make a great seat when I use my outboard!
DAN, good idea! Gerry
Thanks Gerry: funny thing is I just built the same thing for my Troller over the weekend. Had that in mind while I was waiting to get my troller after I ordered it, and actually building a second one as well....I also thought it was a no-brainer because of how the troller is set up it's like it built for it, with no drawbacks because you can use them as small tables, foot rests for different positioning, and storage underneath them. Thanks again.
Ted, great minds think alike. You and Steve came up with a great idea that I never thought of. Owners have repeatedly surprised me with the ingenious ways they use their Twin Trollers and I suspect there are other great ideas we have not yet heard about from other owners. If you have other ideas, send me your pictures and a story or just pictures of your fish and I will post them in a mailbag video like this. Send your pictures to: TwinTrollerPicture@gmail.com Gerry
Howabouthetruth Hey Steve; I used 2-3/4 inch pieces of plywood glued and screwed together and covered with the same carpet I covered my floor with. My main deck is 24" fits inside the track but still allows the seats to slide and makes it about even with the top, but what's also nice about it is when you pick it up and rotate it, it can lay flat on the bottom of the boat floor and is hardly noticed if you don't want to use it. I made a 2nd one like yours that goes on top as well, but haven't tested either of them out on the water yet, but they look fantastic, are solid and don't move at all. Nice job on it.
Ted, it sounds like you have a floor covering? have you posted video or photos to show your flooring?@@tedondrish9204
Hi Russell. Gerry has a quick video of a few pics I sent him when I was working on my Troller in the fall. I just used some carpet I had left over that was installed in my house.... it's very expensive plush carpet and feels great on the feet just like I had in my previous inflatable boat, but nothing special. My wife will be fishing with me quite a bit and she likes the feel of carpet.
This is Safety Sally. I'm building this deck now and will test it out in the 2020 fish'n season.
Hi Sally! 🤣 We will be interested in seeing your platform. Gerry
@@LunkerFishing 😀 I used Steve's design but could not use his measurements. All the measurements were off on my TT. I had to go with 28- 1/4" wide with the 2x8 cuts. That's really odd but 29-1/4" is too long and would overlap the fishing pole trays on me. I am not going with the SeaDek...that stuff is expensive!!
Hey guys! Within the last 2 weeks, i have recieved the cover and the livewell! 😁 I got them during the holiday discount sale! I got the livewell because i want to fish some local tournaments in my area.
Not in hurry for the boat. Where i am in Michigan, about 35 minutes north of Detroit, the lakes have a lid on them....ice. I will order the boat around the beginning of March. No way could I order it now and have it sit for 3 months. I would have to bring it in the house! I think it would be a great bed to sleep in! It could also be a great little place to eat, if i put a tv tray between the 2 seats! lol! Talk about being versatile! 😁 It could be the ultimate man cave addition!
My plan is to acquire the accessories i want now, since i have a few months before ordering the boat. I appreciate you guys sharing all that you have done to your TTX10s! Looking forward to becoming an owner!
@@howabouthetruth2157 Thanks a ton for the advice! I appreciate that! Having back-ups/spares based on what you have on your TTX10, is a good idea! I have a friend that said I should make a livewell out of a cooler. That might save some bucks, but i felt i would be sacrificing room. Not a good trade off to me. The livewell from Freedom Electric Marine, is designed with form and function. Well worth the price! 😁
Peter, it is comfortable enough to sit in and watch TV so you can just move your Lay-Z-Boy out of the way and put it there. 😊 Gerry
I think i am sold on this Twin Troller, now to find a dealer in Florida. Thanks for the video
There are not really dealers. Do a search for twin troller X10 or the manufacturer, Freedom Electric Marine. Order it on line and they ship it to you.
If you have trouble finding the website I can help you find it. Gerry
Hey Steve my name is Jerry I live up in Georgia and I’ve been watching your videos and I was wondering what size box you got next to your battery that you got your gas can and funnel and other tools if you wouldn’t mind telling me so I can get me one I would like to have one of those and I also bought the same motor you’ve got for mine I just got mine a month ago and I’m working on it and getting it ready and appreciate if you give me the size and where you got that box so I can get one I think you said you had a gallon gas can in there .I thank you said you got the basket under your seat at Home Depot thanks for the videos they really are helpful and I enjoy them thanks to you and Jerry
Hey Jerry, don't fall off that deck into the water and let a gator git ya. Love your rig.
I will try! Gerry
Thanks Jerry.
Would like to have seen how it cruizes with the 3.5 Mercury at full speed!
or a 150!
@@LunkerFishing lol 😉, it would be a submarine
Absolutely awesome idea!I've been considering the twin troller for some time now! Most all the lakes and ponds around me really don't need a big motor,so my only question to anyone who owns one are the motors that are built in strong enough or should I atleast maybe add a small electric troller motor outboard style?
@@howabouthetruth2157 Thanks for the quick reply! I've always been a bank fisherman unless on a buddies boat. But since I've moved a few years back most my options now require some sort of small boat! And most the ponds and lakes don't allow gas power motors. I'm not 100% sure knowledge wise about marine batteries and all of this but I'm a diehard bass fishermen ad have been for over 27 years now! And with most these ponds they are very huge like merli sarnoski park it's a vairly small pond electric motor only! But since I began fishing it this past summer from the only dock your allowed it's way over fished and I've seen guys on boats catching 7 and up to 8lb largies in spots I see and wish I could reach! I've been checking the twin troller out for a long time now I've seen many many videos but I'm sure I'm going to have more questions. Like I'm moving closer to a lake the end of this month now it's a bit larger then the other pond and much wider but it's the kinda lake I would mostly fish close to shore around the over hangs and docks so I most likely wouldn't really shoot straight across it! But more just work my way from launch all the way around and back or half way and back because it is a bigger lake that was why I was considering putting another troller motor off the back as a back up in case the built ins couldn't handle it since gas motors aren't allowed but yes I would want to have as much battery as I can so attaching the 2 together would be a great idea not something I've ever actually done myself but I'm also pretty handy and a quick learner so I'm sure with your instructions I could figure it!! But for all the places arou me which is like 4 lakes 1 pond and I believe only one allows gas motors. So besides the built ins can I purchase something that's also outboard but electric with more power just for the larger lakes that don't allow gas?
@@howabouthetruth2157 Okay my concerns aren't about speed that don't matter so much! It's more just getting from A to B safely and efficiently on just the built in motors that's why I was wondering about just a simple basic out board minn kota just as back up! Do they make anything like some kinda guages to test or see how much battery life you have throughout your day of fishing see myself I would mainly craw around the shire lines and such and the drop offs other then that I'm not looking to be flying around the lake! I just don't have any experience or knowledge being I never took the leap and boat any boats in all my years so it would be my first and a learning experience also! Thank you for all your kindness in answering my questions it's much appreciated oh and also can this little boat be easily loaded from say like a land point that's shallow to the water that doesn't have a a boat ramp and if you don't have the ability to tow it can it be easily moved other ways like the lake near my new house doesn't exactly have a ramp but yet people are allowed to boat in it I've seen Jon boats and such in it with electric motors so the twin troller would be perfect but how would the ease of just pulling it down a small road and lowering it off the bank in be?
@@howabouthetruth2157 Okay all great to know thank you very much! I'm feeling much better now then I was before about making the leap to buy one I feel it would be the best solution for me in my lakes and ponds around me. Yeah it's currently the same time I have insomnia some nights so I get to watching TH-cam videos on things I'm interested in making the leap to buy and you seemed knowledgeable with the tt. So I dropped my questions! You have a great day and ty again for everything
James, it sounds like durability of the trolling motors is your concern and not speed. I have yet to hear anyone say they have had trouble with the motors and as Steve from Melbourne has said, replacement motors are readily available and easy to install. They come from Motor Guide, one of the largest trolling motor companies, and not some Chinese knock off that you cannot find replacements for.
There is a video from Freedom Electric Marine showing their Quick Lift Dolly for launching where there is no boat launch. Gerry

When you get your Twin Troller feel free to send us some photos!
@@howabouthetruth2157 Oh I agree completely! I've done tons of research on the twin troller. And figured since you are a seasoned owner my only questions would be best asked here!
Awesome idea 👍 new subscriber
Welcome Vabasser Outdoors. Gerry
I wonder about using plywood (maybe 2 layers glued and screwed together) for the deck so there won't be that gap in the middle? Plywood is relatively stable and doesn't expand/contract with moisture. Also, how about spraying the deck surface with with something like pick-up bed liner coating or rubberized undercoating?
Two 3/4" sheets with construction adhesive and screws. Could also paint the top with non skid paint.
Good idea also. Gerry
Steve, I sincerely apologize for "offending" you so much on your "perfect" design of your casting deck. I did not mean to be so "critical" of your plan. But may I offer an explanation? The main reason I suggested plywood is that I have plenty of scrap laying around my wood shop. So I wouldn't be spending "all that extra money". I certainly wouldn't go out and buy a full sheet just to build a casting deck. Two pieces of 3/4" plywood of the same size of your deck certainly do weigh more than your 2, 2x8s----12 lbs as opposed to your 11 lbs.! As far as flexibility, The SAGULATOR on Google shows the same flex for your deck as for 2 pieces of 3/4 inch plywood laminated together (0.03" total with a central load). I do understand the scenario of falling through roof decking. But the 7/16th inch OSB used for most sheathing is not comparable to what I am suggesting at all. No disrespect meant here either but I am just suggesting that material that one may have at hand can possibly work just as well. Just saying......
Thanks Steve help me a lot I really do appreciate you answering me thank you very much
Hey Steve this chair again I got one more question have you had any trouble with a 3.5 Mark vibrate loose on the transom please let me know thank you
I was wondering how long a 100 amp Group 31 battery has lasted (hours) before it runs out of juice?
Jim, I do not own that battery. If you do a search on TH-cam for "RICK INSC" he is a TT owner and has one of those lithium batteries and possibly he can give you that answer.
Tell him I said hello when you contact him. Gerry
Hey Lunker012, what was the episode and umbrella you used for your seat in the twin troller?
Charlie, That video was a while ago and was of an umbrella setup that another TT owner did. Do a search in my videos for LET ME INTRODUCE YOU TO STEVE'S TWIN TROLLER X10 PART 1. I know in that video he. talks about an umbrella. Gerry
Question: I built my platform using the 1 5/8 inset for my 1x4 from the end of the 2x8, but have a 1/2" play in the horizontal movement (which seems excessive). Can I bend the Sea Dek over the end of the 2x8 on each side to reduce the play? I've never used Sea Dek and haven't ordered it yet, so I don't know how flexible it is. Do I really want to reduce the 1/2" play?
Also, I couldn't understand you when you said what type of material to use under the edge of the2x8 to reduce movement.
Would appreciate your help.
John
John, If you are sending digital photos you can just email them to me at TwinTrollerPicture@gmail.com and just a note telling us about what you did. Video does not email well so photos work the best. Gerry
Hi great info...how far back are those pedals able to go .? Chillc
Charles, If you look at pictures and videos of the Twin Troller where you can see the floor of the boat you will see slots formed in the deck. They hold the pedals in place. There are many slots, even several in the center area of the boat so the pedals can be passed under the front seat and the person in the back can operate the TT. Since the pedals, inanition give you propulsion, they also make you steer so you can do that from the back of the TT too. The versatility of this boat is extensive. Gerry
Lunker012 .......thank you great little rig!....chillc
I'm thinking that platform would be perfect for placing a small BBQ on so you can grill some hot dogs or hamburgers while out on the water or for warming hands in colder weather.
Medium well with onions please.
You can also use it as a table when you eat your lunch
Randy, for some using it as a table may be the better use. I bought the items I need to make one and will do a video on making it. I will try it as a platform to cast from but at this point I am interested in it as a work area. I just need to find the time to make it, so stay tuned. Gerry
Or a fish cleaning and filet table. And if the fish ain't biting, break out a deck of cards and play solitaire
Uno!
Now all you need on that rig is a couple of down riggers, out riggers and a sailing mast to save battery power and gas.
And a BBQ! Gerry
You could all so us exercise rubber mat . That blue rubber one from Walmart.
What boat model did you purchase. How much did it cost. Did it come with the trailer. I saw the one boat at a show this last winter $ 5,995.00trailer and a Honda gas motor. Can you purchase the boat with out the Honda motor. I have sent email after email to the company they have not returned my email.
Larry, send me your email address to TwinTrollerPicture@gmail.com and I will contact them directly myself to get them to contact you back. My boat is 5.5 years old so I am not up with current prices because I am not looking for one. I have the deluxe package that has the boat, Honda, two seats, fishfinder, and the trailer. I know they have different packages and some have no outboard. They are usually very good at getting back to people but let me try to help you. Gerry
Larry, I contacted FEM for you. They have no emails from you and ask that you call 877-882-0099 x2 so they can assist you. Gerry
Hi Larry. We've replied to 3 of your emails over the last two weeks (June 13, June 28, & June 30). You don't appear to be getting them. Check your junk mail. Your email account is with AOL. This is a common problem with them. Or, simply call 877-882-0099 x2. We can answer any questions you have.
Thanks for the help, Gerry. We found his emails. They have been responded to. He doesn't appear to be getting the responses.
Did it come with a fish finder
There are multiple models. Some come with a fish finder, some do not. twintroller.com
Bought a Twin Troller four years ago, blows Bass Pro Pond Prowler away🐡
Ronnie, The Pond Prowler is a nice boat for a year possibly two but would deteriorate after then. I have seen them for sale used and they do not hold up well at all. You get what you pay for. The TT can remain in the sun and hold up because of the materials it is made with. The design of the TT is made for comfortable fishing and is well thought out with longevity in mind. The Prowler tries to plow through the weeds and Lilly pads and logs while the TT climbs over them like it has 4WD.
Send some pictures of your fish or boat and a story about you and your TT. I am sure others would be interested in seeing and hearing from a seasoned owner like you.
Send to: TwinTrollerPicture@GMAIL.COM
I am obviously late saying this, but welcome to the Twin Troller family! Thanks for commenting. Gerry

Love your videos, Gerry! But one thing I do not like is the background music. It gets in the way to listen comfortably to what you or your mail bag listeners have to say! 😉
Criticism understood. Gerry
Can you put a 4 hp on your twin troller
Eugene, I cannot answer that for you since I never used anything but the Honda 2.3. That motor weighs under 30 pounds. The balance of the boat with a heavier motor would be a concern to me. Gerry
Howabouthetruth (4 hp that’s a 4 stroke 52 lbs) (4 stroke to 3.5 - 41 lbs )you think it’s to heavy
Iam think about putting on the 3.5 motor is kind of heavy on that transom one more question Iam think about buying a Suzuki what is the best one out there motor
Hi. can someone just gift me one of these???..... thank you ill be waiting i was good this year.
Erik V. Garcia, good luck on that!
(little kid voice) "it was worth a try"
I have had a tt for over a year now, and I must say this is about the dumbest thing I have ever seen. I am 65 years old and in good health and safety minded. Why crowd more an already small area. Just not necessary and probably unsafe. Just saying, you can’t make a perfect boat better.
Rodney,
Many boats are designed with a raised casting deck to aid in fishing, especially sight fishing. It depends on where you are fishing and what techniques you like to use when fishing. I have not built one of Steve's casting decks yet but I may do that. I am not as stable on my feet as I was when I was younger so I am still pondering if it is a fit for me. I am sure some others will find that something they can use successfully. Gerry
Rodney "SALLY" Smith
Steve, I can't wait to get my TT and build the casting deck! I say to each his own, I can't see how someone can negatively comment on this! If you don't think it'll work for "you" then keep that opinion to yourself! :-) Steve Please!! Please! Keep these great ideas coming! I'm saving my pennies and just chomping at the bit till I can get my TT! Tight lines brother and don't let the nay-nays get to you! :-)@@howabouthetruth2157
