    These videos are great because you can notice even the smallest pattern in the fish like how they check out the jig and what movement draws a better strike because in the summer when you're fishing blind you don't think about them being right there and just watching your life/jig. You think when you cast and reel (or drop and jig) that when a fish noticeses it that instantly attacks it to strike. You aren't thinking that they are hanging out down there around the lure watching it until it makes that certain movement that triggers them strike. Of coarse some do straight out attack it on sight buy maybe because they were hungry and feeding or maybe it's defending it's nest (usually in the spring/summer) so by being able to watch their behavior can teach the little tricks how to tempt a fish to strike when it wasn't that interested to eat. One thing I do know and this video backs it up is that sometimes you can fish for an hour without a single strike and then you switch lures and just that fast it makes an instant difference and you'll catch something within a couple of casts which clearly showed fish are there they just didn't that first lure for whatever reason. And in the video you dropped the other big and caught that fish that wouldn't attack your first one. What was also neat to see was that pike ignore it, hang out perfectly still for a minute, swim away then turn around and attack it? I wonder if it actually was gonna attack it but realized maybe if it freezes for a minute maybe some other fish would come after it and the pike would attack that fish thus getting a bigger meal??? Or maybe in the background another pike showed up and it decided it had to eat it before the other pike does? Hmmm who knows
    I'm curious about something. Being you're fishing there in the winter I can assume you probably fish in the summer also. So what I'm curious about is during the summer do you scout out for holes or cuts in the bottom or look for structure and mark these areas so come winter you have a good idea where to set up and drill your holes.

      Right--- They were mostly dinks---
      We get beautiful perch here in Wis too!!! (10-15") Plus, His shiner was set too low in the water column-- Since pike are sight feeders, and generally approach the bait from below, or horizontally, we always set our baits higher in the column, so they can creep up on it, or bring them up sometimes just under the ice a foot or two to trigger them into striking-----

The clear ice provides more light for the camera. What is the picture clarity in dark water? I am considering investing in a Marcum camera.

    • @stevenallen9592
      @stevenallen9592 ปีที่แล้ว

      I have a question. If he's catching fish and seeing others why would he want to go home hopping? I could see if he's getting skunked and he's not even spotting fish but if he's catching fish why spend the time looking for a new spot, drilling holes, getting a camera dropped down while adjusting it to see the lure and setting up his little work area (seat, camera screen, tackle, coffee etc) all to take a chance of finding a spot when he already found one? If there was no action and he didn't see any fish after an hour or so then its a no brainer to take a shot and move around.
