Video concept: "The death of melody". Think of songs in the '50s. Think of songs in the '60s. The '70s. The '80s. The '90s. The two thousands. And so forth. There's a gradual decline of melody, for rhythm and harmony, and even that is gradually declining to simply atmosphere and production / sound design. The contention - to prove or disprove, as you will - is that, across all genres, melody has consistently declined in popularity (starting with Claude Debussy onwards). That music is strangely running away from "having a tune" to it. Vocal performances increasingly cover a smaller range of notes. Once the star of the show, melodies have become increasingly avoided and seen as "cheesy" somehow. And, like, this is NOT a lament at "modern music", as this trends has been going on for at least a century now. Discuss.
so grateful that I got a chance to see @AdamNeely in Sacramento when Sungazer was in town, my goodness! Button Masher and Jared Yee- wow. I immediately went and checked out your videos on IEMs after the show as well as checking out the iConnectivity gear. I think this may have been the first show ever where I was up close in front of the stage and there were zero on-stage monitors, I love it- it must be incredible being able to hear everything, I can't wait to experiment with this in my own little projects. I wish I had been able to stay and chat after the show- definitely next time!! I really appreciate you do that and connect with the audience. Thank you for the show and the masterclass (it had sold out before I could get a ticket so I wasn't there) and being like....awesome humans, that's all I can say, much love for everything you are doing!
So my friend and I saw Sungazer in Vancouver, Canada and it was a fantastic show. It was when I first really realized that Adam is an *incredible* bassist???? Like, obviously I knew he could play really well, but a lot of his TH-cam / Nebula stuff is based on education and arranging. So when he absolutely shredded this track and Hot Saturn like 4-5 meters in front of me it absolutely blew my mind. There's something different about seeing music live.
Been watching Adam's videos for about 7 years, just saw Sungazer for the first time in Portland...wowww, absolutely mind blowing, and i agree not only his bass playing was phenomenal, but his presence and energy was way more badass and fierce than I expected, he is an amazing musician to see live! Feel like I know the guy after so many hours and years of videos, but yes he's a bass player from another world at the end of the day 🔥🙏👊
@@mikemcginn4232Same here, saw him in Madrid. I knew he was an impressive musician, but seeing live how fluent, confident and comfortable he is with the bass was really inspiring. Definitely felt more reserved in his TH-cam presence, the energy from the whole band was absolutely electric!
He started his youtube career with shredding, when he was a kid, so yeah, he's been past the trying to impress people with technically impressive performances since his teens, lol

I remember being on the front row during this and once 3:00 drops you feel like the Sun feeling every different planet's orbit around you. It was beautiful, and the way each part slowly builds up to it is so well made.
I was able to go to one of Sungazer's concerts in early December. Top 5 days of my life, and I've lived almost 11,000 of them. And thank you, again, Adam, for stopping to chat with me for a few minutes after the show, even though you were exhausted. Absolutely made my year. Here's to the next Sungazer concert I'm able to make!

Thanks to all members of Sungazer, i wish you the best for this new year to come. Cheers !
Yooo, Paydushko Horo! Possibly my favourite track of the album! Thank you so much for this, it was amazing to watch the sheet music while listening, and I also learnt a lot!
I love the recent change in direction for this channel. While I loved the “music education”era and its where I learned most of my theory, I feel like it made people think of you more as a theory guy and instead of being able appreciate the absolute monster bass player that you are.
As a Bulgarian, and an aspiring musician, I'd have to say - this is a well rounded representative version of one of our most iconic folklore dances that does not compromise on its original version but rather enhances and represents it in a different nuance! Well done my good sir! Your skills, ear and sensitivity to the genre are supreme. ❤ Following since 2023 and this really excited me 💃 thank you! P.S - well pronounced "Paydushko" for someone who lives thousands of miles away from where Bulgarian language is most commonly spoken 😂
I'm not familiar with the notation at 4:00, what looks like a slash symbol spanning from Bb to F... from context, I guess it means "improvise over the chord specified above"?
This is better than the album imo, i just put it on and you can hear more bass line detail here. Daaamn you make cool music! When that low open note hits @ 3:21, and he slings his bass off to the side (live show in Portland), i wanted to explode, so powerful! 🙏🔥❤️
Dang, you are amazing! I love these play-throughs! And I really appreciate that you include the music. I did not expect the two-handed part around 3:00 (wow). This is seriously inspiring. Please do a play-through of every song! :)
I can't describe the feeling I get as I watch all the rhythmic and melodic waves fall upon me. I can only hope not to lose myself in the djazz if I get the chance to see y'all live.
Just saw them live at the beginning of December for the first time. If you get the chance--and hopefully, you'll be able to get up to the front like I was able--you will get lost. And you'll love it!

This is called "the drunk one", because people dance it towards the end of a wedding when everyone is completly drunk.
