Picking Boats by the Side of the Road - $3,500 Grady White - Deal or no Deal?

- We are back in our home roads of the North Fork of Long Island with a new wave of used boats that have been strategically placed on the side of the road.
Let me know your thoughts on all these boats. It's certainly an interesting lot of boats with a super cheap Grady, a possibly overpriced small Whaler and a newer Scout 21 that seems relatively cheap (in 2023).

That whaler is a 15’ super sport limited and is very desirable. Hence the high price.
Good to know Tim. Really looked smaller than a 15.
How can I get in touch am from Canada and am interested in a boat.
Remember when you almost bought a wave runner to fish from? That whaler is a better choice as a second fishing platform than any jetski
220 hours in one year seems like a lot of utilization on a 21’ bay boat. Owner got a lot of use from it before deciding to sell it.
I believe the scout belongs to Peconic water sports in southold and they use the lot to keep their boats during the winter.
Ahhhhhhh. Makes a lot of sense. Would also explain the hours on that boat.
I brought that Grady to your attention two months ago, it’s been for sale for a long time, it needs too much work, who ever is selling that Whaler is on drugs, and that Scout has a lot of hours for a couple of years old and the trailer is way too big. But I love these videos you do. Thanks.
Thank you so much lol, clearly it’s been a long time since I did one of these videos as I don’t remember who told me about it. I actually prefer that that scout was used. 220 hours is not a lot on that motor and better knowing it’s being used and just sat around rotting away.
If that Grady hull is sound, you'll get another 40 years from it and Fish a lot rougher waters than the other two OVERPRICED Bay Toys. You could replace the entire drive and still be under the cost of the whaler. And have a hell of a LOT MORE BOAT! 1980s Grady Whites are built like tanks. Check the thickness of the fiberglass. I bet it's thicker than that show toy for $55K. People are asking STUPID MONEY for junk these days. That Grady is a steal if the hull has no issues and it runs reliably! Trailer needs replacement parts that a hobby mechanic can replace. But I'd want at least surge brakes, if not electric..
Boston Whaler is a Super Sport Limited 15 made from 1987-1990
Thanks Rich!!!
I have a 2000 BW Dauntless, trolling motor, t-top and leaning posts. I've kept it in perfect condition. $12,900 for a SS?!?!?!? I'd take $13k TODAY for mine and it actually runs. I had a 202 Dorado, new, in 2000. $55k?!?!?!? you guys in NY must have money to just burn.
Haha, I agree on the BW and I do see the market softening so you may be right on the Scout
Old whalers can be valuable however to get money like they need to be in excellent condition.
I would bet dollars to donuts that phantom braker in front of you is a left foot leaner, these are usually the same people you find at the mechanic complaining, wanting to know why their car needs new brake pads every 4 months, "something must be wrong!!"
Id buy that boat. If it runs
Yeah...Hi...looking for a Scarab 2012 with twin 300's. Know anyone that's selling?
I have a friend with one of those. Huge problem with this boat - There are pie crumbs throughout the boat! Don’t know why Wellcraft build a boat this way?
@@jiggingjerks Lmao!
That Whaler was way over priced IMHO.
I understand gradys are a fan favorite but does anyone else think they are just really ugly looking?
I actually think they are kind of nice looking. Could just be a nostalgia Factor on my part.
