I really enjoyed this, especially the final story of the airfield tower haunting. It was fascinating and very humbling watching the quietly unassuming clairsentient's experiences, and how he was able to help the spirit of the aircraftsman pass over, calmly and without a fuss. I personally feel this is a clear sign of an individual with a true psychic gift; as some of the other viewers have pointed out, there were absolutely no gimmicks used in the footage, just the man's skills at work. The whole watching experience was a refreshing contrast to many programmes of today, which rely on the ghost-hunting 'showsmanship' of the presenters with their gadgets, rather than any true ability to communicate with spirits. Thank you, Chillmax!

Wonderful stuff. 1989 eh? I was 6yrs old then. It truly was a different world. I've always been fascinated by ghost stories and this is a very well made and mature approach to the subject. It was a joy to watch.
I definitely heard a ghost train driving in the car through a tunnel on a road which I later learnt used to be a railway tunnel. As myself and a friend entered the tunnel we both heard a train whistle and the faint chug of a train. Later we googled the area and found out the road used to be a railway track. The trains stopped running in 1920

Many thanks Chillmax, I had this on VHS for years and sadly with the ravages of play and time, now gone. I have waited so long to see this again. I am collecting various ghost dramas and documentaries now and one of my favourites is "Govan Ghost Story" also available on here.

thankyou for uploading this, and i don't think you should worry about the quality, there is a lot newer stuff on YT that looks/sounds like it has been filmed with a potato so in comparison considering the age of this documentry its pretty impressive imho! if you have any other similar videos i'd love to see them on here, you have a new subscriber!
Great programme without all the screaming and drama - I sort of believe that a ghost will never never be recorded on camera as they can only been seen/heard by those who possess a sensitivity that others don't - Bit like someone being partially deaf against someone who has perfect hearing, the person with the perfect hearing may say 'Did you hear that?' and the partially deaf person may say 'Hear what?' - The sound happened but can only be heard by the person with better hearing. Elephants as an example can communicate with each other over long distances using infrasound, if scientists can work that out surely they can prove humans can see/hear things that others humans can't ?
I had this on video as a kid, scared me silly haha .been looking for it on here for years but didn't know what it was called . thanks for the upload, very nostalgic.
Wow, way to deal with a 'ghost'...very understated, no dramatics and definitely no sloshing 'holy water' everywhere. I can think of a few people in the ghost business who would benefit by taking a leaf out of his book. So to speak.
I saw this when it was first on TV - class, the "one-two-allairy" bit had been stuck in my mind for ages in fact - strange that such a daft thing should echo for so long - enjoyed seeing it again!
I love these older shows, I'd never really believed until I started watching shows like this, especially when cameras started to be everywhere capturing amazing videos and photos of actual ghosts, there's no question in my mind, ghosts are absolutely real.
Some interesting new tales here, so thanks for rescuing it. It would be interesting to know if Lady Kate did respond to the blessing, and is indeed at rest now. The story about Ruth and Ellen is typical of a certain kind of 'one of a kind' manifestation, in this case a very kind one.
I've now looked this up, and I think you're just referring to the main theme, which is indeed what you say. I'm talking about the operatic piece, which plays behind the section where the priest visits the old chap & a cemetery; unless this is also from the Go-Between, in which case apologies ;-)
Ah, brings back lovely memories of my late Mum when we lived in Nutfield, then Outwood and then Blindley Heath 1971- 1998. She was an untrained natural born psychic like myself and as far back as possible. We had LOADS of ghosts over the years. All were friendly, alittle mischievous but great.
I don't believe in Ghosts and I come from a family who very much do, I have a mother who experienced visions of a murder that happened in South Wales in the 80's that was accurate to the victims last movements (according to my mother and father, I was too young to remember this incident) and my great aunt was the leader of a spiritualist church but after childhood I can only really believe my eyes and ears and nothing has ever happened to me that I can't explain scientifically. I do however have a soft spot for programmes like this and I'm sure after all these years you're sick of these comments but thanks so much for uploading. Without uploaders like you superb programmes like this would be lost forever
Aww hi chillmax. I'm not actually new to your channel because I was subscribed to you under my old channel (Toops144) but I deleted it sadly. Anyway once again I'm so glad you uploaded this and hope you're well too :)
I started to make subtitles from scratch for this, and completed them with lots of tweeks and timing corrections. Its a pity the BBC doesn't remaster and release this, along with other paranormal stuff on a DVD.
Amazing, who were you doing that for? Would it be possible for you to add them to my video? Unlikely in afraid, the BBC don't care about things like that, it would be far too nice to their 'customer'.

The song is called "Walking in the Air" written by Howard Blake for the 1982 animated film 'The Snowman' written by Raymond Briggs in 1978 & famously sung by the boy chorister Aled Jones. The film was commissioned by Channel 4 Television & first shown on December 26th, Boxing Day, it was an instant success & has been shown every year since around Christmas, usually Christmas Eve.
I saw my 1st ghost at 5, while sitting in my bedroom of a 1950s house in Purley. The door was open and I looked up as a silent lady ran past to the bathroom but never came back. She had long dark hair and a black dress with a pattern of flames on the lower part of the skirt. I thought it was Mum but I found the bathroom empty and both parents snoring in their bedroom! I forgot this for years and then one day I told Mum, saying I thought it must have been her. No, she said, I never had a dress like that and my dark hair was very short then. She reckoned it was a lady who must have died running from a burning house. I later learnt that that part of Purley had been heavily bombed in both world wars.

The ghost story documentaries from this era are an aesthetic all of their own.
Yes indeed. All Hallows greetings.
@@Chillmax have you ever watched 'the signalman'
@@tropicalpalmtree Of course, love M. R James, I think Number 13 is my favourite, the production with Greg Wise was memorable. If you like this documentary, look up 'The Stately Ghosts of England' with Margaret Rutherford, quite extraordinary!
@@Chillmax Its the dickens ghost story i am talking about. 1976 they made a film about a guy who works in a signalbox. Have you seen that? I will check out your suggestions! 🎃👻
@@tropicalpalmtree Whoops ! I Lumped that in under MR James, its so very like his work , I forgot it was Dickens, thanks for the reminder.
Remember seeing this when it came out. Very informative and interesting. Deals with facts no rubbish like what you get on TV nowadays.excellent!!
Many thanks Chillmax,
I had this on VHS for years and sadly with the ravages of play and time, now gone.
I have waited so long to see this again. My favourite part of this is the man who was alerted to the illness of his relation by the ghost of his aunty. I am collecting various ghost dramas and documentaries now and one of my favourites is "Govan Ghost Story" also available on here.
You're most welcome, glad you enjoyed seeing it again and yes, I like that Aunt Ruth story too; although my favourite is Kate Babbington's ghost, as I love the way they filmed it & the music kills me every time; here is the exact piece as used, wonderful - th-cam.com/video/R42bD2X6n34/w-d-xo.html
GarryH1963 Govan Ghost Story is available to download for a couple of quid from Amazon! 👌
Great documentary. Well done with this.
thankyou for uploading this, and i don't think you should worry about the quality, there is a lot newer stuff on YT that looks/sounds like it has been filmed with a potato so in comparison considering the age of this documentry its pretty impressive imho! if you have any other similar videos i'd love to see them on here, you have a new subscriber!
Absolutely wonderful 😍 thank you I really enjoyed this
You're most welcome, it is a lovely old show, I've watched it many times.
There's no such thing
👌 thanks for uploading, love the older docos
I had this on video as a kid, scared me silly haha .been looking for it on here for years but didn't know what it was called . thanks for the upload, very nostalgic.
This Came up just now in my recommended two years later so i just watched it again 😂
wow amazing! I remember this.. How great to see it again, thanks!
Great job on the audio
@@rickyred001 Thanks very much, and I hope you enjoyed it. Happy Halloween 🎃.
Wow, way to deal with a 'ghost'...very understated, no dramatics and definitely no sloshing 'holy water' everywhere. I can think of a few people in the ghost business who would benefit by taking a leaf out of his book. So to speak.

Thanks for sharing, love old footage of hauntings👏👏👏🏆
You're welcome, glad you enjoyed it.
I saw this when it was first on TV - class, the "one-two-allairy" bit had been stuck in my mind for ages in fact - strange that such a daft thing should echo for so long - enjoyed seeing it again!
Me too!
Very nice. Totally agree with the comments that today's ghost documentaries are so much inferior to the likes of this
Wonderful! Thank you for sharing.
I love these older shows, I'd never really believed until I started watching shows like this, especially when cameras started to be everywhere capturing amazing videos and photos of actual ghosts, there's no question in my mind, ghosts are absolutely real.
@@JohnShields-xx1yk You are correct, I grew up in a haunted house, I don't know they are, but they're real. Seasons Greetings.
Spent a night at Chingle Hall back in 1993, most damnded thing I ever experienced in my life.
Feel free to expand on that!
I stayed too about 20 years ago with three friends, but sadly nothing happened. Great experience though 👍
Some interesting new tales here, so thanks for rescuing it. It would be interesting to know if Lady Kate did respond to the blessing, and is indeed at rest now. The story about Ruth and Ellen is typical of a certain kind of 'one of a kind' manifestation, in this case a very kind one.
Some lovely people here. Love the chap from todmorden especially plus Nicola's cheeky brother!
Brilliant music by Michel legrand i remember watching this at 18 it creeped the crap outta me.
I wonder if Mark Snow copied for the X Flies
Thank You for the upload
Good video. Thank you!❤😊
This was very good an excellent non sensational ghost documentary
In the old days the BBC actually made quality programs.
I've now looked this up, and I think you're just referring to the main theme, which is indeed what you say. I'm talking about the operatic piece, which plays behind the section where the priest visits the old chap & a cemetery; unless this is also from the Go-Between, in which case apologies ;-)
""The go between" ! I wondered where I had heard that strange music before ! I loved that movie as well....
You're most welcome & thank you for your comments, which are always nice, however often I've received them.
Really enjoyed this...quality documentary...💛
Aww hi chillmax. I'm not actually new to your channel because I was subscribed to you under my old channel (Toops144) but I deleted it sadly. Also I was told on the aforementioned video (of which you may find the link in my previous comment), that Eddie had sadly passed away - I believe around 2005 though there's nothing else I can find to verify that information. Anyway once again I'm so glad you uploaded this and hope you're well too :)
i remember watching this when it was first broadcast
I started to make subtitles from scratch for this, and completed them with lots of tweeks and timing corrections. Its a pity the BBC doesn't remaster and release this, along with other paranormal stuff on a DVD.
Amazing, who were you doing that for? Would it be possible for you to add them to my video? Unlikely in afraid, the BBC don't care about things like that, it would be far too nice to their 'customer'.
@@Chillmax Hi Chillmax, I have the subtitles in a .zip file. I'm not sure on how to add them to your video. The only way would be to send the file through e-mail. mine is garryherring1963@yahoo.co.uk
@@GarryH1963 Sorry Gary, this got totally forgotten!!! Just decided out of the blue to create subtitles for this, took all day ;-)
Eddie Burks was one of the best psychics/mediums I have ever come across.
You're most welcome, nice to know he's still going ;-)
Enjoyed this very much better then most haunted and the American stuff 👍
Gorgeous thank you!
I stayed here in the late 90’s with 4 friends, we didn’t see what you could term a ghost, but quiet a few weird things happened and we raised over £1k for our local hospital baby care unit.
Brilliant!
In the thumb nail, I thought that was
the Duchess of Cornwall - Camilla
Haha!
3:57 is THE BEST old lady in the world. EVER.!!!
Don't be silly, Dominic! :D
Thank you. Watching in October 2021. Perfect 👻🕯🌙
Hi again then ;-) Oh dear, when I said nice to know he's still going, I did think it could be an old recording, and so it seems to have turned out! So it looks like it's Eddie's turn to make contact from the other side now. I nearly left the previous version of this video up, as it had so many comments, but I didn't want anyone to watch that over this much higher quality version, so you're previous comments have been lost in the ether, but it was worth it ;-) Keep up the body building!
7:55 She's drawing the Devil, lol! She said she calls him Dominic, but perhaps she means Damian... This old dear reminds me of Thora Hird, it's a bit like a Victoria Wood sketch!
I'm so glad I came across these videos, would I be able to live watch these on my channel so others can watch them also? Of course I will link your channel in the description so people know where the videos have come from. Admittedly this was posted a number of years ago but I thought it right to ask permission
Sure you can, the more people who enjoy it, the merrier! It is a really lovely video, they're not made like this anymore. I wish the audio was better, but I've done my best with it and I've hand written and timed captions for it. Hope it goes well for you.
@@Chillmax Thank you! It's really appreciated and if I haven't already subbed to your channel I'll go and do so. Indeed, it is a great video and they definitely don't make them like they used to, I'm just annoyed I never thought to tape these types of programmes when I was younger lol. Thanks again
This is great for hallpween. Wish they still made films like thid
Thank you for the upload! Any chance you have 40 Minutes on roedean school available to upload? I like this series and I would be interested to see it :)
Me too! But was it not Benenden? I’d love to see it too.
does anyone have 40 minutes in birth reborn to upload? I can't find it anywhere
What is the song and by whom, at 28:21 ?
The song is called "Walking in the Air" written by Howard Blake for the 1982 animated film 'The Snowman' written by Raymond Briggs in 1978 & famously sung by the boy chorister Aled Jones. The film was commissioned by Channel 4 Television & first shown on December 26th, Boxing Day, it was an instant success & has been shown every year since around Christmas, usually Christmas Eve.
Thank you! Wow, that was a quick answer!
Loved Helen McCormick!
Just Subcribed. Thankyou.
Thanks for the sub!
I wonder if ITV saw this and then did the excellent Strange But True with the brilliant Micheal Aspel ?
Another good show!
I like older documentaries thank you.
