    Just found your channel and love your content. You have a great eye and I enjoy you including the names of the plants and animals in your photographs.

    Love your content and how you present it, just fascinating information. Your channel is a goldmine. Oh how I long to experience in person these last remaining wild areas of the east...

    always used to be a few hidden boats

      Missed this when you first posted it. I had heard that, but we covered a fair bit of the shoreline of the lower pond and didn't find any. And if there are boats, they would be pretty old at this point. Even so, there might be a couple workable ones still stashed around somewhere.

      @@hikelonglakeagree about the old part, one family used to climb trees, and use ropes and hide them in trees.

    You would be interested in reading the original log book I found of the first settlement of Red River Lodge. Daily logs with dates, times, activities, and signatures. It belongs in the Inlet historical museum because the history they have is wrong by this log book.

      I would love to see it. And getting it to the Inlet museum or the Adirondack Experience would be great options.

    How many acres is Siamese ponds?

    • @hikelonglake
      @hikelonglake  ปีที่แล้ว

      The wilderness area is something like 115,000 acres. If you meant the ponds themselves, the lower pond is around 100 acres, the upper pond is smaller.

    Pretty sure only brook trout can make a brook trout! 😂

      So true, but only god, and glaciers can make a brook trout pond.

      @@hikelonglake Well... pretty sure Milankovitch cycles have quite a bit to do with glaciation... 🤔
