After downloading and using the Surfliner 2, I haven't touched any other route since. I'm glad this route got the platnum certification that it absolutely deserves! :D
I love this video. I get chills every time I hear the story of how he decided to release it free to the public. Now if only I could get MSTS to work again on my laptop...
I would say that this is the best freeware US based route I have played. I like the contrast of the route and it ranges from the heavily run down areas with abandoned buildings with heavy tagging on them to the rich and posh areas that are gated off communities where the rich live. This route is so life like in my opinion and I think that Jeff Farquhar has nailed it perfectly for its time period and its a shame that he doesn't make TS2019 routes as it would be great if he did a TS2019 version of this route as the full version. The DTG/RSC route version is no match against this one :).
I could not agree more Brenden. This is one of the best freeware routes for MSTS I've ever seen. and I thought the first version was good, and it is. personally I think the new version of the line is even better.
I saw that that requires payware files. So everyone knows, a full freeware pacific parlour car that doesn't require other files, can be found on trainsim.com that was released in the passed few days.
In your Coast Starlight consist, you have a sightseer car/diner? In the description, it says that the p32s and the superliner cars are from streamlines, but I'm not seeing that car in any of the trainsets, let alone a car near that. Did you forget to mention that this car is from somewhere else, or am I just not seeing it?
The Diner and the Lounge car are from the 2012 Southwest Chief set that streamlines made. Unfortunately the trainset is no longer sold separately, you can still buy the set, but it is now only available as part of the BNSF Seligman Subdivision route. The same goes for the Empire Builder trainset, which is now only available as part of the BNSF Scenic Subdivision route.
This route is great with some amazing scenery, but it seems to lag a bit around the areas with dense scenery, does this happen to you too or is just my computer. Because some of my friends that use this route too have had the same problem.
They won't be; even though the track is exactly the same between LA and San Diego, the addition of the line up to SLO resulted in a changed .tbd file, so no version 1 activities are compatible.
How do you get all your camera angles? I want to be able to have the camera stay in one spot instead of tracking the main engine. Please help. HOW do you get your camera????
the download for the route itself is still working, though the rolling stock links are mostly dead, i just use the rolling stock from out of the payware surfliner route. as for getting it working in OR, i just set OR to use my MSTS directory, so i can't help with install.

its routes like these that make me fall back in love with railroading
Just got the newest version(2.2) up and running with great new textures by Paul Peterson. Outstanding job!

AmtrakSuperFan 393 I know about OR, I use it all the time I don't think it's the same tho.
+AmtrakSuperFan 393 Does this route work on OR?
Very nice video. And many thanks to Jeff Farquar. Been looking for Surfliner route to San Luis Obispo.
Beautiful! Great review! Just goes to show yah, some of the best things in life are free! :D
Thank you Jeff for building this fantastic route!
Nice Video I Got This route today
Well, I went on his website today and he brought his F40's back, YAY!

well done sir, wish they had this route for Railworks 3
It's on trainsim.com, you need SLI's F40PH
If this were on Railworks, I'd say goodbye to Sherman's Hill as my favorite route.
Cascadian Mapping dude! It’s is!!! 👍
@@Texas_North Not the part to SLO
This should be on train simulator. We already have LA to San Diego but the other half would be great
Rail works needs to do the Northern Line of the Surfliner
I could not agree more Brenden. This is one of the best freeware routes for MSTS I've ever seen. and I thought the first version was good, and it is. personally I think the new version of the line is even better.
this is a totally new route. The new version includes the surfline from Los Angeles to San Diego, as well as the coastline from LA to San Luis Obispo.
I saw that that requires payware files. So everyone knows, a full freeware pacific parlour car that doesn't require other files, can be found on trainsim.com that was released in the passed few days.
Rip 3DTrains, no more ways to get the rolling stock and engines that are essential for this route as of the beginning of this year :(
Its a good thing we have those Rotem coaches now, there becoming very popular in real life, not having them for MSTS would make things feel outdated
Thank you.
Awesome review! I've ran the route and it was worth it. Btw, where did you get the track textures? They look like they're from the MacTier.

I heard they will make a Pacific Surfliner route for Railworks.
Where can I get the Coaster Cars and Metrolink Cars?

Now all we need is an Super Surfliner that matches the 3DTrains one in scale.
They won't be; even though the track is exactly the same between LA and San Diego, the addition of the line up to SLO resulted in a changed .tbd file, so no version 1 activities are compatible.
can u ask the guy who made it if he can make it for trainz 2010 or 2012
How about the coaster locomotive? I can't get it to work...
Hey will you be doing a review on the RW version?
Does anyone know where to get the coaster f40's they're not on klw trainsim anymore.
3DTrains.com
How do you get all your camera angles?
I want to be able to have the camera stay in one spot instead of tracking the main engine. Please help. HOW do you get your camera????
how did you installed the new locomotive cab train?
Can someone point me in the direction of a free camera mode? Or does the game come with it and Im not looking hard enough?
They need to make this for ts 2016
most of the links to the additional stock Coaster, Metrolink etc. are not working. Could you fix them please?
Where did you get the track texture?
i Vote TEN!
@Amtrak SC-44 Fan 2105 It's great, I love everything about. It feels alive, looks great and is very long.
I am trying to install this for open rails, Most of the links are dead... I don't know where to look can someone help me?
the download for the route itself is still working, though the rolling stock links are mostly dead, i just use the rolling stock from out of the payware surfliner route. as for getting it working in OR, i just set OR to use my MSTS directory, so i can't help with install.
I got it working... Thank you!
It's being made for railworks 2014
Anyone know any good OR camera mods?
do you have to pay for 3d trains
Where can I get the npcu
nice video man but the cab view on the train is not the best but ok
you have this program?
Where can you buy MSTS?
You can buy it on eBay.
Aka the northern part of the surfline
+Luke Mcginnis I think JDesignsTS is planning to Make The Northern Part of The Surfliner after He has The Entire LA To San Diego Updated.
does this run on windows 8?
Yes, MSTS works on Windows 8.
thank you, I'll be getting it tonight!
Man, I think I got scammed, I put in both disks, but they both come up with message that says, "Please insert the correct CD-ROM" any help?
Matthew Velazquez does that work on windows 8.1?
It takes too long to download.
