I LOVE the way VV does the bar tab. We are light drinkers, so a beverage package for $70-130 per day never made sense for us. On VV, the bar tab starts at $300 (total that can be shared with anyone you want), as Sea Rovers we get a $100 bonus, and we can decide how many of those $300 bar tabs. A hint--if you don't use all of your bar tab, you can buy a round for your "new best friends" on board or you can buy an unopened bottle of whatever you choose FROM A BAR to take home with you. If you purchase from the duty free shop, it is billed to your "loot" or credit card, if you buy from a bar it costs more but is billed to your bar tab. Sure, you'll pay more than you would at the wine shop at home, but the idea was to not let all the leftover money go to waste. It should also be noted that your bar tab can be used for any paid beverage on board--smoothies, specialty tea or coffee, cold pressed juices, etc. in addition to alcoholic or non-alcoholic bar drinks. It cannot be used for "events" that are marketed as "activities" like grog walk, high tea in Sip, etc but can be used for the pairings in Test Kitchen or the bottomless brunch drinks in THe Wake or Razzle Dazzle.
Most of the clients actually end up really enjoying how Virgin has structured their onboard beverage program. Water and soda being included saves money and alcoholic drinks and speciality coffees are priced very reasonably.
I hate it lol I won’t cruise with them until the fix it. I don’t want to have to worry about how much money I have on a card on an all inclusive . No way
Thank for watching! We have found that most people who sail with Virgin actually end up preferring this approach because it gives people more flexibility and drinks are priced very reasonably. To each their own though!
