    Is there anything you hate about your car? What would you change?

    • @jmccarsnmore1025

      Two things a really hate about my 135i:
      1. The high lines of its roof, specially compared next to the E92 lines.
      2. The blind side caused by the driver-side mirror and the A-pillar, from the driver seat. At least in my case.

    • @ElliottBrooks
      @ElliottBrooks  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I don’t mind the lines of the car. Also I’ll keep an eye out for the blind spot

      Bang a 200aud ish rear performance non carbon diffuser, and a black plastics front splitter. Cheap and easy perfect upgrade. Flat bottom half alcantara wheel and I guarantee it will never fail to disappoint visually. For the oem + look

    • @sameer8823
      @sameer8823 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      And led rear lci lights and your done

    • @ElliottBrooks
      @ElliottBrooks  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@sameer8823 yes I’ve done the flat bottom wheel and LCI tail lights. That’s helped. My video was focusing on stock cars. I’m considering a rear diffuser but also want a body kit - so we’ll see where we end up!

    - iDrive was an option in the E82
    - I have the E82 125i and the 125i/135i 6 cylinders have the twin passenger side exhaust. The 4 cylinders and diesels have a singular oval tip.
    - Yes, agree, the storage is crap. But the storage issue pales into insignificance when you get behind the wheel - the car has so much character and it's driving dynamics are instantly recognisable as a BMW.

    • @ElliottBrooks
      @ElliottBrooks  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for the comment! I hadn’t seen any N54 with iDrive, I guess most people just chose to skip the feature. I figured it came in with the LCI. My thoughts re: the exhaust, 4 cylinder keep their oval, 125i keep the current dual left side and then 135i have single both side, 1M dual both side - I know it’s picky but it’s just what I think would suit haha. Totally agree about the car being amazing to drive - If you haven’t watched my 5 things I love - go check it out!

      @@ElliottBrooks Thats exactly what they did on the E9X platform. All 2 litre petrol/diesel had the oval, the 3 litre NA petrol and diesel had the twin and the 335d/i both had the single both sides. But to me, I thought the E82 are a little too narrow to have the single both sides exhaust. The only reason why the 1M looks good with quad is because its wider.

    I have a 07 325i with the larger CCC screen, with your point about the screen/infotainment you can find 135is or any E82 with either, no screen, a small screen or the larger screen. Some people prefer no screen as it 'saves weight' and more of a drivers car. However, I do agree with lack of space, even on an E92, you will struggle to put things in, the storage you do have is either too small or flimsy (cup holders). Very good video, keep it up!

    • @ElliottBrooks
      @ElliottBrooks  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for the feedback! I appreciate it. In regards to weight reductions, surely only the most track focused car would worry about that level of difference? I mentioned this in my last video, but I love that they can be both daily and track focused - so I guess I’m looking for that hybrid. Small in the scheme of things but definitely a good point to know before purchase

      I have an E82 without infotainment/idrive. Love that, minimalist & I'd never use it. Use phone for navigation. I also removed my rear seats because I never use them.

    #1 No dipstick.
    No coolant temperature gauge, & No oil temperature gauge. Unpainted bolts that rust easily on the underbody, Start Stop (have to permanently disable it with coding.)

    • @ElliottBrooks
      @ElliottBrooks  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah the no dipstick is definitely a new one! I’ll have to look further into the bolts. Mine doesn’t have start stop unless it’s already been coded out.

    • @leonlange861
      @leonlange861 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      No dipstick is absolutely disappointing but the 135i has a oil temp gauge under the tacho. Where should be unpainted bolts? My car has 190k km in German winter and summer driving, so salt and stuff and literally there is almost zero to no rust on the car at all. Besides under the abs ring *argh*

    You are actually lucky you don't have iDrive screen in your car, as it looks more outdated than the stock entertainment system. Apart from that, BMW stopped producing the navigation maps in 2014, so its basically dead weight.

    I have a 2011 N55 135i. I really don’t mind the one sided double-tip exhaust. Honestly, the double sided, single tip in the 335i looks hideous to me, specially when the bumper doesn’t allow for bigger tips. I’m with you with the infotainment. Way too simple for a BMW, and its orange color is the worst!!
    Btw, your car is 2008, with only 11-Thousand KMs, that’s insane!! Congratulations!!

    • @ElliottBrooks
      @ElliottBrooks  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah I agree single double side isn’t the best but I’m sure it would be easier to fit a double to each side with a new diffuser or something like that. I will eventually upgrade to dual side double exhausts but it’s not cheap!

  • @dshorr7347
    @dshorr7347 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yep it’s on my radar. I’ve been focusing on performance lately since doing a lot of visual mods - but once I make a couple more mods I’ll swing back to focus on this

  • @helixworld

    Two pipes on one side, vs One pipe on each side... 1+1 = 2! Seems the same to me as they are both feed by one muffler anyway.

    • @ElliottBrooks
      @ElliottBrooks  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hahaha this is true. But in terms of aesthetics there is a difference. Plus upgrading to twin dual pipes (similar to 1M) would be much easier!

    i was thinking about getting a golf r , sti, evo, or a 135, would you recommend this over a golf r

    • @ElliottBrooks
      @ElliottBrooks  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I also owned a Ralliart (which I evo x turbo swapped) so I can have some feedback on that too. Which model Golf R? I assume a 6. To be honest, it depends on your interests. AWD is a big benefit for me as I appreciate the grip + off the line speed. Rear wheel drive is unbeatable if you enjoy drifting or the old little slide around a corner. In terms of looks - the BMW has the best impact. Internally I think the golf R has the best features. Evo/STI if you’re into JDM and also are budget conscious. Euro cars cost a lot more to maintain. BMW also has the best tuning option as for about $500 you can tune to multiple stages yourself via your iPhone.

  • @syygnis
    @syygnis 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    you missed the biggest main issue is that the motor is a directed injected engine and carbon build up exists

    • @ElliottBrooks
      @ElliottBrooks  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah this was initial feelings rather than after owning it for a while. Walnut blasting can help that though

    • @syygnis
      @syygnis 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ElliottBrooks mhm yeah but Walnut Blasting is a pain in the ass, gotta take off the inlet manifold, honestly try to find an S65b40 from an E9x M3 ahahaha. N54's are amazing motors 100% but direct injection is a turn off for me

    • @ElliottBrooks
      @ElliottBrooks  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah that would be the goal. I’d love a V8 135i haha

  • @chrisrobinson7395
    @chrisrobinson7395 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    What car do you prefer? R or the 135i?

    • @ElliottBrooks
      @ElliottBrooks  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It’s hard to compare. This cost me $15,000. The R was a $35,000 car. The R felt a lot more advanced and precise. It was a clean cut fast car. AWD was real nice off the line. However, the BMW has way better looks and style. Plus you really notice the 6 cylinder engine difference. If someone offered me to trade for my old car, no price difference - I’d take it. But this BMW has been a whole lot more fun and I’ve learnt so much through the experience! No regrets

    I can put my sunglasses in a case and my wallet into armrest storage so it's not so bad as it looks. but i dont't understand why BMW engineers can't do that same cupholders as in 3 series... If you have Idrive system you loose one of them

    • @ElliottBrooks
      @ElliottBrooks  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      The armrest storage could be designed way better than it is. Having came from a golf R, I’ve seen what’s possible in confined spaces so I guess that’s where my bias comes from. Agreed about the cup holders
