  • I am on a no-heat service call where I find the circuit breaker on the transformer tripped. HVAC troubleshooting the low voltage short. I start troubleshooting the RTU low voltage short. First I disconnect the 24 volt R terminal. Thereby disconnecting the power to the thermostat. I check the wire to ground and trace the wire. Finally, I find the wire has shorted to the unit.

    The brilliant Hacker is back at doing his thing of fixing problems others can’t come close to solving. His training skills are absolutely amazing. The Hackers knowledge is beyond the realm of the universe. His troubleshooting skills are so advanced that no other techs are close to being so smart!

      Thanks Eddie, I’ll take the easy one when it comes. Unlike last Monday soaked in the rain chasing a short for many hours. Why I needed to dump my bag and dry out my tools

    Nice fix. Lennox is having lots of issues with evap. coils. I know that is field wiring, but the units should have better wire runs to that kind of stuff is at a minimum. Seems like many mfg's. are having issues these days with electronics also. I like the old mechanical systems. Easy to work on and way less issues.

      Usually those wires should travel in plastic wire sheath. The ones cars use. I’m working on an RTU now and this one has the wire protection sleeve

      The wirestrippers are just called stripping pliers. I own a Wiha 30947, works great. Rated to strip 8-28 AWG, and you can set a stop so you don't cut too deep.

    • @thehvachacker
      @thehvachacker  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      those are NWS shipping pliers, I removed the stop didn't see the need for it. Yet i like how they strip pulling instead of pushing to the side like standard strippers

    What do you mean you are grounded? And when you check for continuity how do you know if it’s good or not. Thank you.

    • @jaylencurtis7008

      Grounded as in any of the wires touching metal or “grounded” and when he checks for continuity he is listening for the beep on the meter

    I can't believe they won't give you a box of wirenuts - that is pure bs - what does he do - charge the customer to go to the supply house for a wirenut??? If I was a customer and found that out I'd find me another ac company

    • @thehvachacker
      @thehvachacker  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      They give us wire nuts. Not the blue ones I like. The orange blue ones. I have a bunch in my truck. I only keep a couple in my bag. Usually if I’m doing a repair and know I need them I grab extra. Yet here I am troubleshooting, found the short, and didn’t need to go to my truck for parts. Therefore I depleted the few in my bag

      I hate working for assholes like you. You don't know what the circumstances are but you're quick to judge. Usually you're type of person is the one that's corrupt. Always looking for the worst in people.
