I'm a huge fan of the reuben and it's hard to find a good one. Everyone has their own favorite version and that's OK, it's like my grandma can whip your grandma. As long as it's good, no one can argue. And now for my usual what if: What if it was a reuben, topped with mac and cheese, kraut, stone ground mustard and bread and butter pickles? Just a thought. Had a restaurant for ten yrs and the Rueben was one of our best seller. The only thing different that I did was ,actually put the Kraut on the grill to warm it up since I keep mine in the refrigerator, because of heath codes and put it in the oven once put together for 2 minutes to seal the deal. Great videos and love your excitement of cooking together, wish my brother had been closer to me like the two of you are. Keep up the great videos , always looking forward to the next one.

Just wanted to say as a Kraut myself. The best way to prepare Sauerkraut is to fry it up with some caraway seeds and lil bit of sweet. Let it get some color and deglace with some stock (or better yet demi glace) You'll never have had better Sauerkraut! Build a Reuben with that and thank me later
I learned how to make a Reuben about 19 years ago (ah to be in my 20's again) while working at a restaurant, and made several hundred I am sure. I absolutely love them! That Russian dressing looked great, and I love thin sliced corned beef and marbled rye! A few tips and/or suggestions for you guys now that I am sure you will make more. First toast the inside of the bread before building, the bread tends to hold up better, plus it's good. Drain the sauerkraut to remove some moisture and actually mix in a bit of the Russian dressing to the kraut. When I build, I first butter and griddle the bread on both sides, add the dressing to both sides, add some kraut and swiss on one side, and beef and cheese on the other. I leave them open face and finish off under the broiler for a nice bubbly cheese. I suppose you could do that on the Blackstone and dome to melt. You then just join both halves together and cut on the bias. For my Russian dressing I usually make something similar to yours (probably), also with pickles, and I add a little Dijon mustard. I just call it 1000 Dijon. Anyway you do it is the right way of course, as long as it tastes good! Nice cook Bros, griddle on!!

I am not a big fan of sauerkraut either but my mom used to make it this way and it is so much better than right out of the can or jar. First wash the sauerkraut and then pat dry, try to get out as much liquid as possible. In a pan put in a few tablespoons of butter and start to melt it. As it begins to melt add in about two tablespoons of brown sugar. Mix it together and then add in sauerkraut. Add in salt and pepper to taste. Give it a taste and sometimes depending on the sauerkraut you may need to add a little extra brown sugar. Hope this trick helps and keep on making great eats on your blackstone. My husband and I love watching you you guys! He loves his blackstone and I love when he cooks instead of me!

When I make a Reuben, I usually grill the corned beef and sauerkraut, together. It heats up the kraut a little bit and gives the meat a vinegary twang. This was a great video, guys. Thanks for posting! :)

I like to add a little brown sugar to my kraut first just for that little bit of sweetness. My husband has to have onions on practically everything, so that goes on ( thought about grilled onions), and try spreading mayo on outside for toasting, works great. Looks good y'all. I like spreading some horseradish on one side of the sandwich (sometimes dijon too). I get a thicker sliced rye bread from my bakery. Definitely a kraut that is well pressed to lessen the moisture

I get every and all of your notifications. One of the issues could be that the hit the bell, but did not hit the ALL option so that subs get EVERY notification of when a new video comes out. What a great cook today. Reuben are one of my favorites. I get them whenever I can. Culvers makes a great Reuben and so does Arby's. I love the dressing and kraut on their as well. I usually fry my kraut slightly with a little bit of chopped onion and butter. It mellows out the sourness a little and brings in some sweetness. I know it is not traditional but I like it. Everyone has different tastes and yours looked awesome! I would like to try making that dressing. The recipe looks awesome!

There are a few places where I live that have a good reuben. However, the best Reuben is the one I make. I make sauerkraut all the time and when I have a new batch, its Reuben time!! Homemade sauerkraut is the game changer to me. Story Time: A couple of weeks ago I had a new batch of 'kraut. I went to the store and bought all the fixins' and came home. My friend said he really didn't like sauerkraut. I said thats because you've never had it homemade. Its a completely different taste. I ferment mine with dill and summer savory just like my parents and grandparents did since the "old country". Long story short, I made a sandwich, he tasted it and I had to make another! I always have to have a crock of sauerkraut now because you never know when Rueben Fever strikes! Plus I like to eat a little every day. Your Ruben looks really good too. Love the marbled rye. Guess what i'm having for lunch tomorrow?! Nice griddle BTW! You guys enjoy!!!

I love Reuben sandwiches! Yours looked fantastic. For me, the more kraut the better. But warm it up. I stack meat, kraut, then cap it with the swiss cheese right on the griddle. Then place that on the dressed, toasting rye bread. Great job guys
With all brands of sauerkrart, I always rinse it under running water and drain it well before eating it or putting it on a sandwich. This removes the strong bitter taste. Boars Head sauerkraut is my favorite brand. You did well, this was an amazing sandwich. I love the Wishbone Russian dressing on it.

It's Rueben time since brisket is 1/3rd the cost now St Paddy's Day is over so I stocked the freezer last week with 13 briskets and made one this evening. The best cut that can be bought and after dinner had my husband slice it super thin to make ruebens for dinner tomorrow night. I always make my own thousand island & Russian dressing and will be adding both. I also make fresh kraut and freeze, then when needed I completely drain and remove excess juice with a cotton towel, and make sure to grill the inside of the bread before I build and fry it up. Going to try your Russian dressing version to see how amazing it is.

You did great! I like a Jewish or Dill Rye Bread, and I've done both Pastrami and Corned Beef. I once ran out of Rye Bread and used Sourdough bread. It turned out great, also! Both are awesome tasting. I love a good homemade Russian dressing, and yours is no exception! Whether you have a Blackstone grill or a 12" Cast Iron griddle, They do the job. Well done, guys! I used to work at a nursing home. The cafeteria menu was blah. But they had two things on the menu that I never ever passed up. Liver and onions and Ruben sandwich. I have hated liver all my life, but this stuff smelled great and tasted 10 x better. I’d never heard of a Ruben sandwich before but it looked fantastic, smelled great and I knew if I didn’t try it I would regret it. And I would have. I’ve never found anyplace that makes a Ruben sandwich that even comes close to what they served there. This looks close to what the nursing home served. But theirs had probably another slice of cheese, and I think they grilled the sauerkraut before they put it on the sandwich.

Awesome job! You know you can make your own sauerkraut. It tastes much better than store bought. It takes 10 days to 2 weeks to ferment. I smoked a pastrami over the weekend and I'm going to make a rueben for lunch. YUM!!!
@@waltwins The thing about homemade is you can let it ferment to a tartness level you enjoy. I made a rueben for lunch with it and pastrami made from scratch.... You’re spot on. Giving the pastrami and sauerkraut a quick also helps the Swiss melt. Epic!

When I make them I take the sauer kraut and squeeze it in a strainer with paper towel to make it dry so it doesn’t soak the sandwich with juice.

You have to squeeze out the juice of the sauerkraut. Dont just add straight from the jar. Otherwise it makes the bread soggy.

I like to add a little brown sugar to my kraut first just for that little bit of sweetness. My husband has to have onions on practically everything, so that goes on ( thought about grilled onions), and try spreading mayo on outside for toasting, works great. Looks good y'all. The newest thing I wanna try is a Reuben burger!

I like spreading some horseradish on one side of the sandwich (sometimes dijon too). I get a thicker sliced rye bread from my bakery. Definitely a kraut that is well pressed to lessen the moisture

I get every and all of your notifications. One of the issues could be that the hit the bell, but did not hit the ALL option so that subs get EVERY notification of when a new video comes out. What a great cook today. Reuben are one of my favorites. I get them whenever I can. Culvers makes a great Reuben and so does Arby's. I love the dressing and kraut on their as well. Thank you so much fam! Yes, we get the notifications thing - it just seemed that TH-cam hit the big “off” switch on us after Creator on the Rise. Doing research, most continue with high success. We are doing the same thing, but everything seems to have slowed way down. We understand the ebb and flow, this just felt different. In doing research, TH-cam recommends asking subs when something like this happens to see if they are getting the notifications - seems to be pretty split, and obviously, many who didn’t get them may not have even seen the video yet. I usually fry my kraut slightly with a little bit of chopped onion and butter. It mellows out the sourness a little and brings in some sweetness. I know it is not traditional but I like it. Everyone has different tastes and yours looked awesome! I would like to try making that dressing. The recipe looks awesome!

There are a few places where I live that have a good reuben. However, the best Reuben is the one I make. I make sauerkraut all the time and when I have a new batch, its Reuben time!! Homemade sauerkraut is the game changer to me.
Story Time:
A couple of weeks ago I had a new batch of 'kraut. I went to the store and bought all the fixins' and came home. My friend said he really didn't like sauerkraut. I said thats because you've never had it homemade. Its a completely different taste. I ferment mine with dill and summer savory just like my parents and grandparents did since the "old country".
Long story short, I made a sandwich, he tasted it and I had to make another! I always have to have a crock of sauerkraut now because you never know when Rueben Fever strikes! Plus I like to eat a little every day.
Your Ruben looks really good too. Love the marbled rye. Guess what i'm having for lunch tomorrow?!

I love Reuben sandwiches! Yours looked fantastic. For me, the more kraut the better. But warm it up. I stack meat, kraut, then cap it with the swiss cheese right on the griddle. Then place that on the dressed, toasting rye bread. Great job guys

With all brands of sauerkrart, I always rinse it under running water and drain it well before eating it or putting it on a sandwich. This removes the strong bitter taste. Boars Head sauerkraut is my favorite brand.

It's Rueben time since brisket is 1/3rd the cost now St Paddy's Day is over so I stocked the freezer last week with 13 briskets and made one this evening. The best cut that can be bought and after dinner had my husband slice it super thin to make ruebens for dinner tomorrow night. I always make my own thousand island & Russian dressing and will be adding both. I also make fresh kraut and freeze, then when needed I completely drain and remove excess juice with a cotton towel, and make sure to grill the inside of the bread before I build and fry it up. Going to try your Russian dressing version to see how amazing it is.

You did great! I like a Jewish or Dill Rye Bread, and I've done both Pastrami and Corned Beef. I once ran out of Rye Bread and used Sourdough bread. It turned out great, also! Both are awesome tasting. I love a good homemade Russian dressing, and yours is no exception! Whether you have a Blackstone grill or a 12" Cast Iron griddle, They do the job. Well done, guys! One suggestion I have is cooking the sauerkraut with the corned beef. That is how we used to do it at the restaurant I worked at.

@@waltwins well we didn't "cook" it any more than you did, but most of the liquid evaporated off the sauerkraut which definitely changes the flavor. I never liked anything on this sandwich until I had one. Thanks for reminding me what's what.

I used to work at a nursing home.
The cafeteria menu was blah. But they had two things on the menu that I never ever passed up.
Liver and onions and Ruben sandwich.
I have hated liver all my life, but this stuff smelled great and tasted 10 x better. I’d never heard of a Ruben sandwich before but it looked fantastic, smelled great and I knew if I didn’t try it I would regret it. And I would have.
I’ve never found anyplace that makes a Ruben sandwich that even comes close to what they served there.
This looks close to what the nursing home served.
But theirs had probably another slice of cheese, and I think they grilled the sauerkraut before they put it on the sandwich.

Awesome job! You know you can make your own sauerkraut. It tastes much better than store bought. It takes 10 days to 2 weeks to ferment. I smoked a pastrami over the weekend and I'm going to make a rueben for lunch. YUM!!!
