After all the jacks are in their boxes
And the clowns have all gone to bed
You can hear happiness
Staggering on down street
Footprints dressed in red
And the wind whispers Mary
A broom is drearily sweeping
Up the broken pieces of yesterday's life
Somewhere a Queen is weeping
Somewhere a King has no wife
And the wind it cries Mary
The traffic lights they turn blue tomorrow
And shine their emptiness down on my bed
The tiny island sags downstream
'Cause the life they'd lived is dead
And the wind screams Mary
Will the wind ever remember
The names it has blown in the past
And with this crutch, its old age and its wisdom
It whispers "No, this will be the last"
And the wind cries Mary

I absolutely love this woman. Can't get enough of her music. Thanks for posting this.
Listen to The last train to Clarksville. She has an ammmazing grove to her arrrangements !
I have been listening to this " sultry opiate -like "voice since the mid- seventies. I was blessed in that she sang with a local group called Blue John. The bass player was my beau. That was in Little Rock, Ar. Still love her voice !
original twist on this Hendrix masterpiece! Great arrangement, playing and vocals!
Incredible arrangement. Beautiful beyond measure.
arrangement wonderful , brings a diffrent perspective to the poetry of jimi hendrix
The best! No one else compares
Gorgeous
I believe Jimi would have loved this!
God i love this cover & would love a whole album of Cassandra covering Jimi Hendrix, this is the 3rd song i know of. Many thanks for posting ;-D
Elaine Duchamps died today (January 27) on Crossing Jordan in 2003.
beautiful.
I can feel Jimi's presence in this rendition.
anybody know what open tuning this is?
I aggree w/ D. Fahey. Youv'e laserbrn-ed your brain.
Love Cassandra but - unlike her treatment of I Can't Stand the Rain or Last Train to Clarksville, for example - not crazy about the way she does this.
I dunno...seems like murdering a great song. This seems lifeless and boring. So bland...I think her voice is nice, but the song lost everything for me.
