I agree with you, Lamar has to get better with the deep throws and how does that happen, you practice, practice, practice, and work hard on it in training camp and OTA's. I hope Lamar and Bateman build a good repoire in the off season like he did with Zay. Bateman has no excuse, he has no injuries that prevented him in the past.
I would agree too but i cant put ALL the blame on Lamar when there’s tape of bate giving up on deep throws like the rams game last year for one example

Bateman should work out with LJ8 in the off season. The Ravens should draft a tall fast WR with first pick if thats available.
The Bateman experiment has been interesting because he truly is a good route runner with great potential overall, but the chemistry with Lamar just isn't there. Can it be fixed? Possibly. Would I chance $14M on that possibily happening in Year 4? No.

Rashod Bateman is one of my favorite wide receivers because he has elite playmaking ability and skills but he's very underrated as well but Lamar Jackson and Rashod Bateman needs to keep on practicing very heavily during the off-season so that they will be on the same page and level come the regular season

I think a lot of the reason why he was not able to display his ability to make defenders miss is because he was coming off of the lisfranc injury. I think this year he will be a very good receiver for us if he can stay healthy and I think he will

So many of Bateman’s receptions seem to be with a defender right on top and near him. He didn’t have many where he could run free. It was so strange, but speaks to what you pointed out about his pop he showed when he first got there. Even Agholor had several plays where he ran free. That’s probably what I’m looking for most from Bateman.
It depends on how he does in 2024. Now that OBJ is gone, he's getting his chance. If the Ravens use him more often which they haven't really done other than in 2022 before he got hurt, he could finally have his breakout season. He's shown flashes, but nothing consistent. Hopefully, that changes here. (Fun fact: Many Ravens over the years have balled out in contract years)
I’d like to think that the Ravens are aware Bateman’s usage in this offense and looks to expand it… as he does something Flowers cant and vice versa…
That said…. Let’s hope the passing game expands more.
As it stands Lamar threw the ball 28times a game with no real impact downfield; if that changes it changes for the passing scheme for all the pass catchers.
Bateman is the biggest WR on the roster and losing him (unless he’s replaced in this draft) would still be a net negative to this offense.
So I’m hoping Monken, Lamar and Bateman can all get on the same page…. Maybe Lamar will force feed Bateman like he did Flowers this past season.

It’s harder to find good skill position players than decent blockers ( OLineman ) ..
the Jets KC and Cleveland all added a WR already .
And if Zay or Bateman goes down we’d be screwed again .
I pray Baltimore doesn’t wait and bring in another James Proche type and wonder why he isn’t good , don’t pass up on the DK metkaf types only to try trade for him later , draft the best 6’3 WR that’s available in the first round

Just stay healthy and get some off-season work with Lamar to get that chemistry up. The talent is there so get him some targets.
If he wasn’t the third or fourth read for Jackson, the guy is always open he’s a great receiver in my book
a lot of us talk about the O-line, honesty Lamar Jackson is making the line look good with his scrambling.

I say keep the wr room as is. evaluation year. Last year took 6 or 7 weeks for the new O to just start really clicking, and bate was coming off a bad lingering type of injury. This year, i expect full health and the O to take a jump like the D did last year from the new coordinator the year prior. We got 2 first rounders on the field, let them play. Let's see what we got
If the pick was higher in the draft I’d say yeah they definitely should grab a receiver. For me it really depends on who is available. Based on most of the mock drafts and thoughts I personally have I think I would address some of the other glaring issues with the team. Bateman is extremely talented and he has flashed enough to be a WR2 and a contributing starting WR on this team he just hasn’t been healthy enough imho. Availability is certainly important so I can see people wanting to move on from him but I do think that would be a mistake. I see him as possibly a Christian Kirk (except better at Zone coverages than Man) like player and perhaps like him he just needs a change but he is talented and has flashed it when he is healthy.
I’m honestly not sure what Ravens were doing with OBJ last season. If we are talking Troy Franklin, Worthy etc etc I’d much prefer Bateman. The class being so strong WR wise and Offensive line means many other positions especially defensive ones are going to fall. Best player available at a position the team needs at Pick 30 will be the move depending on how the draft board shapes up.

Bateman is fine. Tell Lamar to become more accurate with the deep ball towards bateman, and we wouldn't be questioning bateman.

i say we grab Xavier Legette(or one of the other tier 4/5 receivers and develop), bring back Bateman, and shoot for other important parts of the team. I think, like you said, we have so many needs already and the front office is spread thin. WR, OT, OG, DE, Corner, OLB. Prolly can't get everything, but I think we lose less by drafting Lineman early, focus on building depth on the defense, grab a "low end" receiver in the 4th, and letting Bateman and Lamar get in the lab. I also think whatever they do in FA with Gallup potentially will make things a lot more clear. Honestly, I don't really care what they do I like all their options I think they fs will bring back Bateman they really don't have reason not to. He's been injured and not given great chances. As long as we cover OL and some defensive depth it will be a successful draft. Getting an AD Mitchell or Xavier Worthy would look fire but I don't think it makes sense. What y'all think?

People are forgetting when Bateman dropped that wide open TD in the endzone, dropping a 3rd down reception...that dropped td..forced lj to not trust bateman, and thats why he wasn't the focal point
His 5th year option is $14.3 Mil. Thats a big investment. Gamble. Risk, based on what has been shown to date. Oweh is $13.3 Mil. same.
Every deep ball is seem like bate slow down or either Lamar put too much air on it 💯 But bate releases are pretty good off the line just more targets and better chemistry
If he doesn't do anything this year AGAIN, we should let him walk. Every single year, us fans with every single receiver we get blindly think they're good picks. "Oh, just give them time. They're young. They need to learn the system" Zay already outplayed him and he's younger. It's completely fine to say a player isn't that good, it doesn't make you less of a fan.

coach, I also think with Derrick Henry being added to the team, it would mean less carries for Lamar and more receptions to other targets (or the same). I think the Henry signing if anything will simply reduce the amount of running Lamar will be doing
Try and trade him and see how little you get back. Ravens have a bad habit of hanging on to bust draft picks. Bateman/ JK/ Stanley. Just pay a true number one while Lamar is in his prime.

I've felt the need to replace him for years. He is lukewarm at best. Not a Raven for sure.
Zay is not a good person to compare Bateman to. Zay is use to deep balls because that's what he did in college. He came to the Ravens and they are a running team. Zay has to adjust to the Ravens first down catches. I think that's the reason why his numbers are close to Bates. Zay is a way better player than Bateman and I feel Bateman has reached his peak unfortunately.

I gave up on Bateman when I saw Devin Duvernay has more receiving touchdowns than him. Yes he’s been injured but we’ve been betting on this guy to break out for 3 years. He’s either always hurt or doesn’t produce. If Lamar doesn’t throw his way, then they just don’t fit and it’s time to move on from him.
I have been clear I am pro Bateman. We don’t know what the reads are I just feel like he’s needs to get some priority every now and then. If not just trade him.
