    I found your video and ordered the parts to upgrade my fuel caddy. I installed this weekend. Took me a minute to realize the plastic collar was a hindrance around the garden hose and I removed it. But everything is so much better than the original inferior hose and nozzle they supplied. I hate smelling like gas every time I fuel my equipment. Thanks for your suggestions and parts list

    Thanks for the info. My hand pump started to fail, so I'm glad to find you. I put my tank in the back of my trailer, so I set it in a plastic tub so if there is any spill, it's will be continued. So I put a 90° fitting so the hose runs parallel to the side of the tank to protect the shut offs and the hose. Thank you again

    I picked up one of these caddies for my dad for fathers day. I had/have some serious reservations about the quality of the hose and nozzle. I'm off to Amazon to order some parts....Pop's fuel caddy is about to get some upgrades. I appreciate the upload and the parts list!

    Thanks for the video and link to the parts. I have one of these tanks that I replaced the hose on and added the air valve, now the handle is leaking like yours was. I was given a 2nd tank but it's missing the hose and nozzle so I'm going to use your parts list to modify both of them. Thanks again.

    Good upgrade. I would add, though, that the fuel thread sealant should be allowed to set for 24 hours before allowing fuel to run through the hose. I used all of your recommended products, and tested it right away, and something leaked a bit, dripping the blue sealant with it onto my driveway. That stuff isn't easy to remove (from skin either, so wear gloves when applying!) Otherwise... worked like a champ!

      Thanks for the update. Did you use the hose to pipe adapter I listed from amazon? Someone else had a problem with that adapter. I actually bought mine from Home Depot and didn't have any leaks. I'm thinking that one from Amazon is the problem. This is the one I bought from Home Depot.

      I should have linked this one from Amazon. Sorry about that. This one has the same description as the one I bought from Home Depot. I'm updating my parts list. amzn.to/3Of903m

    I actually had a FACET Fuel-It pump before I got my Tank Caddy. Obviously, the upgrade i did was to replace the hand pump with the battery powered one. Works great.

    I would caution using the electric pump on the shader valve where fumes live. I would either go manual there or a pump with hose away from the tank

    i bought a nozzle very similar to yours and on the box it says 15 psi is the minimum to do auto full cutoff, and it works up to 43 psi max

    After the seeing all the problems with the duromax by septer I can see why ended up in the trash without the hose I looked at buying one but at 60.00 dollars and the amount I would use it I just left it in my shed until I moved to Drumheller Alberta and commuted to Calgary for work and found the prices for gasoline could be a large difference between the two places sometimes over 10 cents a litre that's 45 cents a imperial gallon almost 40 cents a US gallon so I filled the Flo and go as a backup without the hose and nozzle I did find a problem because my siphon pump packed it in and all I had was a peice of 1/2 irrigation pipe siphon it into my 5 gallon ¹gas can it got me to the nearest gas station also filled it up when prices were about to rise used it a few times for that reason then I parked the van for over a year now that fuel prices are about to go up by 10 to 20 cents per litre I drained it into my pt cruiser I did finally get smart cut 10 feet off the male end of a garden hose and attached it to the tank worked great and since my gas gauge does not work I put 2 gallons in my gas can and headed from east coulee 20 kilometers to Drumheller and refilled it and all my gas cans prices in Calgary are already up by 10 cents per litre so since I had a Doctor's appointment I filled while in town almost 300 dollars to fill my big cube van and all my gas cans including the duromax

    For Quick Hose Disconnects,
    Here is one with good reviews but I can't find one with an auto shutoff that is male threaded. Just remember, if you disconnect the hose, all the gas in the hose would leak out if you don't let it flow back into the tank.
    I would also get some gasoline resistant washers and O-Rings because fuel might eventually eat through rubber hose washers. I'm not sure what kind they come with so might as well just have some spares.

    My question is that air adapter does it have the ability to leak if you fill it to the brim while in transit or when moving it around? Also do you just rip that little vent screw out of the fill cap to install the valve stem to add air ? It takes me about 20:mins to gravity fill the whole caddy with it on the edge of the bed.

    • @plantbasedprepper
      @plantbasedprepper  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Watch my other videos too. Just pull out the old black screw and screw in the air valve stem. Then screw in a tire deflator so it won't pressurize too much. Then get yourself a ball pump.

    I did this upgrade right here in the video and leaking behind the hose nozzle I screwed into. Wish I was able to share a picture. Can you tell me how long the Gasoila takes to dry and set?

    • @plantbasedprepper
      @plantbasedprepper  หลายเดือนก่อน

      @spencerherrick9392 if it's leaking, did you attach the right threaded fittings? It should not leak at all after. Where did you get the hose to pipe adapter? Check that first to make sure it's the right threads and seated properly.

    • @spencerherrick9392
      @spencerherrick9392 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @ I’m good there so far. I’m going to let it set overnight. It’s leaking under black twist ring hose fitting.

    • @plantbasedprepper
      @plantbasedprepper  หลายเดือนก่อน

      @spencerherrick9392 mine didn't leak at all. Did you put the rubber washers inside the female end? You need those too just like hoses have.

      Yes, only with the upgrades. The tank itself is good but can get frustrating without the upgrades.

    I wonder, is it possible to add a quick release of some sort to the hose so that you don't have to take the hoses with you to refill, and for storage?

    • @plantbasedprepper
      @plantbasedprepper  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, you have to just get a quick release hose adapter. Also, make sure the closed half of the quick release adapter attaches to the tank so that when you disconnect it, it has a shutoff. Go with a good brass one...not plastic.

    • @cmack6686

      @plantbasedprepper could you put a link of what quick release with the shutoff valve you'd recommend

    • @plantbasedprepper
      @plantbasedprepper  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@cmack6686 I would go with this one since it has an Auto Shutoff when disconnected. Remember, gasoline might eat through rubber washers so I would change those out to gasoline resistant ones instead.

    I just did the hacks on mine, my new hose is such good quality it's like a gas station hose althought that adds a lot of weight to it. I also got a swivel for the tank connection end (3/4" female water hose connection to 3/4" female pipe threads) to help even more on the twisting of the hose. I don't see a difference in the threads except "water hose connection threads" has a washer in it. I hooked it up and no more leaks (for now anyway). My concern is the original valve coming out of the caddy. How would you replace or find one of those if it starts leaking? It must have a nut inside the tank that holds/seals it in. I'm afraid that one is going to start leaking then i'm screwed........there's no way to get inside that tank to put a nut on the back??? Does anyone know how replacing that shutoff valve right at the plastic tank is going to be accomplished???

    • @plantbasedprepper
      @plantbasedprepper  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It's easy to get and put in a bulkhead fitting valve. You use a string tied to the male end and drop it in the tank, then pull through the hole...put the nut on from outside. I do it all the time with 55 gallon drums.

    • @olkiedokie3173
      @olkiedokie3173 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@plantbasedprepper Sure enough I got a leak and the shutoff valve part broke on my original one. I thought I had it fixed, watch it for an hour and no leaks then came back the next day and the whole 12 gallons of gas was gone!! I will try your suggestion. Thanks for the response.

    • @plantbasedprepper
      @plantbasedprepper  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @olkiedokie3173 get a bulk head fitting....put a string inside the tank...pull threw bottome hole.. hold the strings and thread the bulk head nut through the string and it should drop to the hole. I just did this again with my 55 gallon water drum. Let us know what parts you used. We may all need to replace ours too at some point.

      @@plantbasedprepper Will do, I just ordered one from Amazon, it's Polyvinyl Chloride material (plastic) but I'm sure I read where it's gas safe. I'm trying to get this old one off, I'm starting to think it's left-handed threads, it's a witch to get in there with tools in that small area. I will let you know how it goes, i'm starting to get pissy with this but i've got too much invested to throw it away........I think! LOL

    • @olkiedokie3173
      @olkiedokie3173 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@plantbasedprepper Ok, I got the old valve out, it's a 1/2" male pipe thread going thru that nut you see against the tank, however it is not a bulk head fitting, there is 1/2" pipe thread female brass fitting made into that plastic,that nut serves as an external jam nut to lock it in. I didn't wait for the one I have ordered from Amazon, I went to Ace Hardware and got a 2-12" brass nipple (I wanted to get all that away from the indent part so I can work with the damn thing), then I put a 1/2" fpt to 3/4" female hose fitting on it and bought a brass water hose shut-off valve exactly like what was on there, then hooked my upgraded hose/filler nozzle to that. I used the Gasoila sealant on everything then I pressured it up to 5 lbs and no leaks, I left it pressured and we'll see tomorrow what happens. I wish I could send you pics.

    The flo n go's are a good concept, terrible quality. I only ever used the stand alone pump that could syphon by squeezing. But they never lasted more than two seasons. I would pay more money for the same concept in a quality item, made of metal, and replaceable seals.

    • @plantbasedprepper
      @plantbasedprepper  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      With all of the upgrades, I'm happy with it but it ends up costing $300 to make it better. Seems like everything we buy nowadays doesn't last very long because they use cheap parts to lower the price tag.
