Star Citizen is an in-development multiplayer space trading and combat simulation game. The game is being developed and published by Cloud Imperium Games for Microsoft Windows. An extended retry of unrealized plans for Freelancer, Star Citizen is being led by director Chris Roberts. The game was announced on October 18, 2012 through a successful Kickstarter campaign which drew in over US$2 million.[3] Pre-production of the game began in 2010, with production starting in 2011.
Star Citizen has become highly criticized during its long production process, both for the fact that there is still no clear release date and for the challenges backers who have abandoned the project have faced in receiving a refund. The launch of the game was originally anticipated for 2014, but was repeatedly delayed. In 2013, Cloud Imperium Games began releasing parts of the game, known as "modules", to provide players with the opportunity to experience gameplay features prior to release. The latest of these modules, known as the "Persistent Universe", was made available for testing to pre-purchasers in 2015 and continues to receive updates. After more than a decade in development, no projected date for the commercial release of Star Citizen is currently given.
After the initial Kickstarter ended, Cloud Imperium Games continued to raise funds through the sale of ships and other in-game content, and is now noted for being the highest crowdfunded video game and one of the highest-funded crowdfunding projects overall, having raised over US$400 million as of November 2021. Such methods of generating crowdfunded revenue have however led to criticisms and legal issues surrounding the project. In addition to crowdfunding, marketing is now also funded through external investment, having received US$63.25 million as of March 2020.
Squadron 42, a single-player game set in the same universe, was initially announced in the Kickstarter as an included campaign in Star Citizen, but is now intended to be a standalone product.

@@jayveeeee Real money ship gifts aren't a great idea since it will get wiped in the future, but if you ever get an email with a real money ship, I wonder if you could just keep the email until Star Citizen goes full Live; or maybe at least keep the email until the next wipe so that you could start a new universe with a new ship.

On the 890J, you were also on the auxiliary bridge on the lower (engineering deck). Had you kept going past the movie lounge, you would have hit the basketball court which is setup on the front hangar which can carry ships, yes. The engineering elevator you came in on can hold rovers and ground vehicles and stuff. The room above the bar at the top of the central stairs is the actual bridge that looks like what you'd expect from a ship and can see forward through the window.
It's too bad that your mercury star runner was blown up before you had a chance to really explore it. It has hidden smuggling compartments.
Even modern warships have secondary control rooms burried deep inside the ship so that if the main bridge takes a direct hit you can still maneuver it.
@@qdaniele97 Yep, with physicalized components coming in the upcoming patches, those secondary control decks will serve HUGE purposes if you ever get attacked and certain components get disabled.
@@billywashere6965 it would also make sense to make these HUGE ships like 890J to be really hard to completely destroy in the same manner it's happening now. It should probably turn into a space hulk that you can actually still navigate, repair, board, escape via escape pod, repair the hangar and escape with one of the stored ships, et cetera. Unlike the situation where HP of the ship reaches 0 and it just VIOLENTLY EXPLODES and that's it.

There are actually some passenger transport player organisations that use the 890J and other luxury ships to fly other players around the ‘verse/host parties.

SC is alpha as hell.. but it's literally the best space sim game I've ever played, and the biggest. The scope of the game is huge (thats why it's been in development for literally ever) and the actual universe itself, flying in real time in and out of planets and doing jobs is insane.
You choked on a couple things though lol. Grim Hex is basically an off the grid hub, pirates like to hang out there. It has no military/police presence so no crimestat while you're there to be arrested for. Once you end up in civilized space territory, Comm Arrays and stuff sending signals are what ping you and your crime stat for bounty hunter to hunt you down, or stations to shoot you down. Dying with crime stat puts you in prison.
You also weren't in the pilot seat for the 890Jump lol. You could see when you went 3rd person where the windows were looking out, and no you sitting in there at all haha. You were in more of a copilot seat/alternate control seat. It's a massive ship, so some of these will be intended to be flown my multiple people each managing a system on the ship.
Also, wipes suck.. but you ONLY lose the items/ships you've bought with in game money, your money made in game, and remake your guy. Every single ship you buy with irl money if you decide you want to support devs, you keep no matter what. You'll never lose those ones.
Also for anyone wondering... no. You do not have to buy ships with irl money to stand a chance, make a difference, or make money easily whatsoever... buying ships sometimes just gives earlier access to the ship before it goes available to buy in game, you keep it through a wipe (because you actually paid for it), and the only purpose for buying a ship is to support the development.
Making money is very easy in game currently with Alpha, and buying a ship irl vs grinding in game changes nothing since no ship is p2w, it gives you no advantage other than surviving wipes. You're not competing with players to grind, nobody affects the in game economy, and ships have roles and all are versatile, so there's no "this guy bought this ship so I guess we have no chance"
@The Rotten💯 it's an alpha. You can enjoy it knowing what it is and still have fun, or wait.

@The Rotten💯 If you do get in and play, it's easy to see it's nowhere close with the scope they're aiming for. Those people are just not being honest about the state of it.
Regardless of that, even the state it is in now content wise, size, and just inmersion is ridiculous, and really good.
Anybody can play right now, sure. But you're still playing an alpha at the end of the day. Just a really massive one
@The Rotten💯 We received a very generous stipend based on time spent in 3.17, so I think many of us actually ended up with enough money to just buy what we had before, or put it all in on an even bigger/better ship

I've paid full price for games that have still LAUNCHED buggier than SC and then died completely support wise.. all the while.. 45 bucks for game access (ownership of the game as well, even when it does launch, and when the price goes up), and I get to witness everything they're doing, adding, changing.. and play with it all whenever I want

On my first day in SC, some dude invited me on his 890j and after the tour he gave me, I no longer wondered why this game will probably not be released until after I die.
Honestly, this game is one of the most beautiful games I've seen.
Have not played it in years, but it might be time to pick it up again and see how much that have changed.

As a side note, dont be afraid of spoiling u to Starfield. Starfield wont be good in what SC is good and viceversa. SC is a spacesim and ST is an action RPG, different game genres.
Also, dont forget that u are playing SC 2022 while thinking in starfield 2023.. By the time Starfield releases we will be in 4.1 in Star Citizen and will be a total different game to what we have now.

hey Jay! here is a tip, something that i found out myself only recently, if you lock on somebody to shoot, also press ''G'', it activates some targeting gimball, making it much easier to shoot people!

fun fact about the mercury star runner - it can be used to smuggle things because it has hidden tunnels where contraband can be stored so it doesnt show up on scans
If you take missions from the general tab, those are lawful missions. The missions on the personal tab, can be/usually are not so lawful. So one of those bunker missions you played last time, if you are a bad guy, which it appears you were, you don't want to shoot the guys with pink on their armor. They usually have some shade of blue armor, or black, with pink splotches on them. See pink, don't shoot if you are on a personal mission. If you would have taken a mission from the general mercenary tab, you would have been targeting those guys. You definitely have to check your targets on those missions. In the future, they are only going to get harder. The CitizenCon videos showed the work they are doing on the AI, and quite simply, they will be a force to reckon with for your average player. They will work as a team, as some NPCs flank you, some push on your position, and others hang back just a bit to provide covering fire for the others. And they will search for you in a realistic manner. Check those videos from the last CitizenCon if you want to see it in action.
When that AI is implemented, you will definitely need to maintain cover, check your targets, and fire quickly when spotting an enemy.
In 3.18, they are already more lethal than these guys you faced.

dude you gotta get on when they have jumptown! the newest patch has 70-100 player caps (up from 50) and its really lively and theres a lot more missions to do!

You joined SC in the best time citizen. In some months we will get 3.18, the biggest change since 3.0, and some months later.. 4.0 and the new SC era.

They were testing with higher Player capacity per Server during the last Patch testing and the TH-camr/Streamer Morphologis Managed to fit 100 players into one single ship
Hey jayvee, a couple of tips: when you're holding food or drink, you don't have to inner thought to consume it - you can just press left mouse button and you'll use whatever you're holding. And when the other player killed you, if you press "accept" it means you're pressing legal charges against the other player, who will gain crimestat and increased jail time. Also, press C to turn off cruise control when you're trying to land.

If you go to the top of the 890 jump, there is the main Bridge with a Pilot seat looking out above your ship :)
I know how to fix assassins creed; you have the choice to play as an assassins which is more like the older assassins creed games, stealth focused with good parkour, or play as a Templar which would be more like the newer games with a focus on looting and open combat (for the few people who enjoy Odyssey and Valhalla).
I know people want to fly down into planet on Starfield but that shit is annoying after the "awe' factor goes away. The auto landing/takeoff/docking sequence is pretty cool anyway. I'm excited to see how it compares as well. I don't think you'll be spoiled from this game. When you're in space or on planet you'll actually have shit to do, explore, discover, build. It won't be comparable for a long time to anything I bet.
Flying down to a planet can be tedious sometimes but keep in mind everything is still placeholder for star citizen.
There's going to be stuff like random distress calls or beacons that you pick up on the way in or other random encounters.

@@spotlight9269 they haven't promised anything new since around 2017. Some new stuff coming out and people complain about feature creep, but the stuff has been promised since 2015 or something.
i’ve owned and played the game for 2 years. the awe factor is still there and honestly the time it takes to quantum travel into a planet’s atmosphere is very similar to the time spent looking at a load screen
You can't gift ships (yet). So CIG has probably noticed you and given you a stream account, which gives access to a bunch of ships.
SC is a massive game. You should try to find someone in the SC community to give you a proper tour of the different mechanics and tell you more about the game.

I haven't heard of them doing "stream accounts." Are you sure about that? I could not be up to date but I'm skeptical of the existence of such outside of a possible exception that proves the rule.
What does exist that you might be thinking of is the referral program that content creators often level up a lot more than the rest of us. That gives a bunch of free ships depending on the tier achieved.

The mobiglass bug is from the undersuit bug that completely removed ur head which stops the mobiglass from working this only happened to me in prison

Dude, I don’t know if you know this but you can actually escape from jail and that part is actually my favorite in the game. It’s pretty hard but it’s VERY fun and I highly recommend it
Finally, someone actually created my idea.. Another one I can finally talk about.. I had this idea a long time ago. Back when I used to give Gta ideas some of the idea's I had was Baby Momma DLC. Not just all these things, but actually where when you get caught you get sent to jail. You would have to serve out different sentences for crimes you do in Gta Online and in jail there would be a new skill sets for criminals to unlock but once you've gotten your record you loose stuff in the Gta world.. Gta should also do Grand Theft Amurica where they do a full open Map from coast to coast, San Andreas on one side, Liberty City on the other side with Vice City as Miami.. Going from one side of the country takes quite a bit of time unless you fly and I would introduce like mp3 players and game held things for players to do during their flight.. There are other things I was going to do but those are idea's that aren't out yet so I'll keep those for the game I hope to make..
You like this? Those ships are huge but I want to make a game that actually makes these ships looks small and in this game, ppl don't have a choice.. they have to follow command and regulations. And I want to make them fully functional and they serve more than eye candy purpose. I wish I had the funding to make games. I'm trying to secure the right to have a youtube channel and still be on disability. My worker's looking into it. I wanna make a very fun basic game with a lot of good basic stuff with replayability in mind earn a voice with Unreal and start making new cutting age games, not just new graphics. Hopefully I can earn some funding.. Plus I'm Canadian so I'm gonna contact the Canadian Media Fund about my first game.

Starfield isnt really a space sim and more of a space rpg so no matter how good sc is when its working it will be such a different experience I dont think it will be spoiling starfield for anyone!
to mining you must use the scanner to show where the minerals are and use a gamepad to control the ship is much easier I think

Landing becomes way more easy if you turn off the cruise control though.
There will be another wipe in November when 3.18 hits.
Hope to see you stick around SC. It really does feel like it can ruin your expectations for other games, but for now every wonky patch and the occasional bugs keep us modest I believe.
Around when 3.18 goes live there will also be the IAE.
It's often a bit more glitchy around that time of the year due to it being the biggest event in the game and paired with a free flight event on top, with every flight ready ship available to rent for free on the floors of the Expo hall. Each day there are between 1 and 4 manufacturers (based on how many ships each of them has flight ready in the game) and you can tour each and every one.
I find it to be tons of fun each year, but if you go, keep your expectations limited, because server load might be a kicker and there is new tech comming with the new patch which is impacting the servers on a fundamental level and might cause unforseen trouble.
Still, I think you would have fun though.

@@ByFriskyTM Short answer: Yes.
Long answer: Right now CIG's statement is that they will only do wipes if absolutely neccessary. There was a wipe a year ago or so which was due to the database having been split from a single DB for in-game money, reputation, and inventory, to one where each of those parts is in its own DB. They did so in order to not needing to wipe all of these important player facing parts all together necessarily. However, since they also introduced a new terminal system there had been so many bugs that caused DB errors that they needed to do a wipe of inventory and money again (note that reputation wasn't wiped at that time) during summer of this year. The new patch (which got a new release date for January) with important tech for the goal of this project will change the DB further in order for the new tech to interact with it, which brings a total wipe with it again. The next wipe after that is also already heavily implied: CIG wants to bring the second star system together with server meshing (the tech that is needed to make transfers of players and objects between servers possible and is ultimately what CIG wants to use so that thousands or even millions of players will be able to play in the same environment) in the 4.0 patch. They initially targeted that for early next year, but due to the delays of 3.18 this won't be possible and it's questionable if it'll be ready in 2023 or even 2024, since it's complicated to do the way CIG wants it to work.
Best case scenario: 4.0 arrives at the end of 2023, and the extensive testing that the persistent entity streaming tech of 3.18 received makes another wipe unnecessary, and server meshing works so well that a new wipe won't be necessary until the game will actually launch.
The more realistic scenario: 4.0 will arrive at the end of 2024/the start of 2025 and will require another wipe. Throughout 2023 and 2024 there are more regular patches with new features which won't require any new wipes due to the database working as intended, which would bring about 2 years of play without any wipes, which is generally enough time for even casual players to get most of what they want to have without spending more real money than required for a basic game package.
