    Love the indepth review! I have a few open stock supracolors, and I think they are good for the price, or i should say the price i paid 10 years ago! I always forget about Mondulez, they are a fantastic buy! Beautiful artwork as always.

      Thank you, Lindsay! I enjoyed doing this drawing with them, and I can't wait to use them more! As far as the Modeluz, I agree! I'm really impressed with them, especially for their price point!

    Thank you for another wonderful review and great to see you jumping right into a creative new year! My experience with Caran d'Ache products has been less than positive over the past few years. I don't know what the issue is, but each of their products I've tried is not like the Caran d'Ache products of 10 years ago. As for watercolor pencils, I made the leap into the Faber Castell Albrecht Durur a few years back and never regretted it. I know there's a lot of hype over them and they are expensive, but the results, for me, were worth it. Caran d'Ache has been hit or miss and I actually favor the Derwent Inktense and Prismacolor products over the the Supracolors. To me, they're still a worthy product to own, but I don't find myself grabbing them right away and they are not in my "up front" set to go to these days. Of course, that said, you make using them look so fun that I'm tempted to revisit!! lol!! Cheers, my friend! Hoping you and your family are doing great! ~ Mark

      Hey Mark! Good to see you, I hope you have been well! I totally get what you are saying, I go back and forth on their products, too. I think part of it for me is the price point. I think they have some beautiful products, but other companies also create high-quality products, often at a more reasonable price point. So, I often have mixed feelings about Caran d'Ache products. I love the Luminance and Museum Aquarelle lines. That being said, I still find myself reaching for Derwent Lightfast and Derwent Inktense more often. I'm sure a lot of it comes down to familiarity and personal preference on my part, though. Thanks for watching! Happy New Year!

    Hullo Shana, I am a recent subscriber. I found you through the secret Santa videos, so I am very glad that you participated in it! I don’t know your art background, but if you mount your “surface” or paper down on a board is one of the best ways to work in most mediums! I know that many people tape their paper down to make “filming” easier. I started with watercolors and then I worked on canvases and the ability to spin, rotate, turn the surface to make all areas accessible is key to creating a better finished image. I started using Koh-I-noor watercolor pencils I honestly thought they were the only kind there was! Since finding the Magnus line of Albrecht Durer’s I have reached for them when looking for a watercolor pencil. There are many “boards” to choose from, but I have no trouble recommending a Gatorboard. These are extra thick foam-core water resistant and are easily cut to size. I look forward to seeing more of your videos! I hope to be able to see more of your older content as well. Please take care and have a lovely day!

      Hello! Thank you! I'm glad you found my channel! I really enjoy working on mounted surfaces! I'm a huge fan of Ampersand panels and Legion's new Aluminum Artist Panels (both have been featured in other videos of mine). I agree that the accessibility while creating is amazing! Though it's not great for filming if the piece is being moved around too much, which is something I have to be mindful of when I use that kind of surface on the channel. I do have the tools to mount my paper to panels and other surfaces, but in all honesty, it has never been worth the effort to me. When I do work on mounted surfaces, I prefer to work on premounted surfaces because of lack of time. I have a day job as well, so when I have the time to create, I prefer not to have to spend too much time on prep work. I also like to work on paper because it's easier to store in a portfolio which takes up a bit less space.
      I love the Koh I Noor Mondeluz pencils. They are so great for their price range! Thank you for your kind words, I hope you have a lovely day and a very Happy New Year!

    Hi Shana. Beautiful painting, as ever!! Your skill set never ceases to amaze me. I have the complete set of the Supracolor, but, and this may be of interest to your viewers, I purchased them from an artist second hand on eBay here in Scotland. They showed no sign of wear at all, and the artist simply said, they found they disliked watercolour pencils in general. They wanted to sell things they found no use for in order to buy what they went through more of. The prevalence of artists who do this in the UK seems pretty high. Anyway, as I said, they hadn’t even been sharpened for the first time, and I snagged them for just £87! That is roughly $108. So, having gotten such a great deal, gives me the feeling of them being great value for money. I have the 12 pack of Museum Aquarelle, and they are not as lovely as their Roles Royce range to be sure. Overall, and price definitely comes into it, I am delighted with what I have managed to achieve as a hobbyist. I would never have invested in the full set, had I not stumbled across that deal. Happy Hogmanay Shana and to all your loyal viewers too. Wishing you a happy and prosperous 2025. I also hope that at some time in the very near future, you will be able to do art as your full time job. 🩷👩🏻‍🎨🖌️🎨🫶🏻🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

      Wow! What a good deal you got! That is such a score, and it's awesome that they found a good home where they will get used and be shown some love. It's a great idea to look out for second-hand deals that way. It cuts down on waste and makes both parties happy! 😊

      @@CautionArtistatPlay exactly!! I paid full price for the Museum Aquarelle and it simply makes them feel too precious to use, so they sit in their posh box, snuggled in with their individual wee home. They look cute though, and when I get better with my Supracolor and Inktense, then I will allow myself to play with the posh set. 😁

    Beautiful painting! We love these pencils, and have the 120 set, plus the 30 new colors from the 30th anniversary set, and the newest set with 18 new colors. They work so well in conjunction with the Caran d’Ache Pablo colored pencils.

    “No. No. No. I’m not going to buy this set” if I keep saying this to myself it’s going to be okay 😅
    The picture of the flower I send you was made with Albrecht Dürer. This wasn’t wishy-washy (love that word). At least I didn’t see it 🤔 Could the paper have had an influence on that?

    • @CautionArtistatPlay
      @CautionArtistatPlay  2 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Hey Nicole! I noticed it most when I did my comparison video and used them next to other pencils. The way the Albrecht Durer flowed felt different to me than the other pencils I used, and it gave a bit of a looser feel in the beginning layers than the others. Especially when using the palette method. The other pencils didn't seem to flow as far and seemed a bit dryer. In the end, I was able to tighten things up with subsequent layers. But in the beginning, when I tend to do lighter washes, it was more noticeable to me. I was using Arches Hot Press 140lb paper when I did it. It's nothing crazy, just felt more flowy to me. But it could just be how they act with the particular techniques I use.

    • @Art_by_Nicole
      @Art_by_Nicole วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      @ that would be it then. I mixed a lot on the paper and when I saw very light areas I used the pallet method as well.
      I believe when you say that. You have used many other pencils. I used the Mondeluz and AD. So I have less to compare.
      I’m now busy with another flower but now I experience what you said. I had to mix a lot of different colours now. Mixing on the pallet gives wishy-washy and mixing on paper is more fibrant. But for that I have to be sure about how much of the mixing colour to add. And that’s a bit more difficult for me as a beginner.
      I use the Windsor & Newton watercolour paint as well on that same piece. Don’t know…I’m not really happy with the result yet. I have to keep saying ‘trust the process’ but it’s annoying 😂

    • @CautionArtistatPlay
      @CautionArtistatPlay  วันที่ผ่านมา

      Yeah, things will be thicker and more highly concentrated when you mix with the pencils on the paper and then add water. When you use the palette method, they become more wishy-washy and diluted. I love how the Albrecht Durer colors flow in that stage, but it definitely requires color mixing and layering.
      It's good that you are experimenting with different techniques because that's how you are going to learn what works best for you, even if it's frustrating in the moment. Not every art piece will be perfect, but each one will teach you something for next time!
      I don't have much experience with using watercolor pencils with regular watercolors yet. I haven't done much of that. That is something I want to play around with at some point. I have used regular colored pencils on top of regular watercolors, though. The only time I have found an issue is if the watercolor layer is too thick and the brand of watercolor leaves a bit of shiny residue in the thick areas. I find it a bit more difficult layering over those areas. I'm not sure if that happens with W&N because I have not tried their watercolors yet (surprisingly, lol)

    • @Art_by_Nicole
      @Art_by_Nicole วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      @ you haven’t?! Shame on you, Shanna 😂😂 no just kidding.
      I’d like too play around with different mediums. The weird thing is that it never cross my mind to use different mediums at the samen time. I’m a weirdo, I know 😂
      Lately it’s kind of chaotic in my brain and body and I think that’s why I start something, like the WC-pencils, and suddenly begin with something entirely different like graphite.
      It’s a good thing I don’t sell. People would have to wait way too long 😂

    • @CautionArtistatPlay
      @CautionArtistatPlay  วันที่ผ่านมา

      Haha! It's kind of surprising that I haven't tried the W&N watercolors, but it just isn't something I have sought out, though I have heard good things.
      I really only started fully mixing my media a few years ago. I often would just stick to one medium in a piece, but I love so many different materials that I eventually decided to play around with combining them to see if I could make my life easier. Mainly to speed up my colored pencil work! Lol! But that got me exploring in other ways too!
