Thanks, David. Enjoyed your narration & tour of Hereford. Definitely a lot of history and beauty there. Happy to see you had a merry time celebrating entry of 2025 with friends.
Hello David is John in Florida. Happy new year to you and your friends. I did enjoy that video very much and love that town. What a delight it would be for a trip there.
David, as always, the video was enjoyable. Funny thing, after watching your end of year roundup narrowboat vid, I wondered if we would see a van vid. I am glad that we had this one. Happy New Year to you.
So your van temperature was 11*. 4:09 Here that is almost tropical. In my lounge it has been 8* for a number of days but with suitable clothing I am warm
I'd run your diesel heater on full power for 30 mins once a month and after using it on low power for a few hours, It helps keep the burn chamber soot level down. I've done that with my Autoterm for the last 4 years and not had a single issue with the heater 🙂The controller you have does display a reminder about running the heater for 30 mins each month but I noticed you power the heater off so you probably don't see the message.
I was just thinking that it was time for another Vandemonium video. Gives me a good reason to stay in while it's -22 degrees Celsius with the windchill here in Canada.
Happy New Year David I enjoy watching your videos on TH-cam and mush more about the canal boat . I always like travel to England and enjoy the countryside. Thank You from Malta
Hereford’s been on my list of places to see for ages, and your charming tour spurred me to move it higher on the list. Then I moved it back down a bit, having discovered that the Mappa Mundi and Chained Library are closed until the beginning of February. But I will go! Thanks, David.
Happy New Year! Loved the video! Always a treat to see a new Vandemonium video. Neat tour of Hereford, quite a lovely place. Looking forward to your take on the Bridgewater Canal collapse on CruisingTheCut.
Unlikely to do that; it's already been very well covered by TaylorsAboardANarrowboat and Court Above the Cut, and I won't have a chance to get up there any time soon.
Happy 2025 David! You make me want to visit Hereford. I love things medieval and Tudor. Too bad the mappa Mundi was hiding during your visit - it was the first thing I thought of when you said where you were going.
Happy New Year David and thanks for the pronunciation of Hereford. That’s a very common breed of cattle in the US but over here it’s obviously mispronounced “Herferd”.
Nice city Hereford ,I was a regular visitor to a night club there. (50 yrs ago)🙀. It hasn’t loss any of it charm by the seem of it. Thanks for an excellent exploration David.
I passed through Hereford, while cycling in the UK, and spotted a very strange creature swimming in the River Wye. There were, of course, a number of stately white swans swimming serenely near the bridge. However, there was also a single very large white and grey swan swimming at an amazing speed along the river. It was moving so quickly that I thought it might be some sort of radio controlled boat made to look like a swan. Does anyone know what this might have been?
That bed shot should have come with a warning😮😂😂😂 Thanks for the tour - ❤ the Hereford Bull and the architecture❤ Also camper varieties - would have been interesting to see inside a couple - maybe a thought for another get together? Thanks - all the best for 2025 Jan Adelaide🎉🎉 🫖☕️🍶🥪🍾🍷🥂🍻
Hello David, Happy new year. You spoke about Quantum physics. I highly recomend A new way to understand quantum, on the The Royal Institution youtube channel.
Great walking tour of Hereford and Happy New Year. If you find the voltage drop more than it should be when the heater is starting up, change the cheap Chinese toggle switch. The vendors say they are rated for 20a, but they get hot when switching 10a or more. I used one as an isolation switch for my diesel heater and it melted.
@@Vandemonium The Autoterm is a great heater. You probably already know that the supply fuse is 25a. That's because, like all diesel heaters, the glow plug draws a high current on startup. Just suggesting you keep an eye on that so called 20a switch, that's all. Best wishes.
It’s a long time since I installed it but I don’t remember any such switch. There’s the control panel but that doesn’t feed the power to the unit directly. As I recall, I wired it through a dedicated fuse in the 12V fusebox in which case I will have used an appropriately-sized fuse according to the manual.
Diesel is an oil and doesn't 'go off' like petroleum...there are additives to co8unteract the algae/funguy thing - sometimes heating fuel etc suppliers sell 'ready treated' diesel/kero (and usual;ly charge a little more for this)
As someone of a similar age to your self I get a bit fed up with everyone banging on about AI, but could I suggest you have a conversation with one of the AI chat bots about quantum physics, and the questions you have. I was in a similar situation, trying to get my head around the cosmic background radiation, (as you do). I found it very helpful having the ability to ask questions in this conversation style. The chat bot has the patience of a saint, asking followup questions and getting it to re explained things I didn't understand is no problem to it. It's not perfect, and I wouldn't stake my life on its answers, but I did find the answers or rather the understanding I was looking for. I used Microsoft Copilot, that just sort of worked it's way on to my windows 10 laptop. Let me know if you try it and how you get on.
A happy and joyous New Year to you. Hereford looks quite interesting, I'll add it to my list of places to attempt if I get to England next year. Two things on the video. First a question, do the English use Elgar's Pomp and Circumstance for every marching occasion such as graduations and the like? Here in the States it's the only piece of music used. Second, thank you for your pronunciation of Jacobean. My fellow Americans insist that it's a green vegetable and pronounce it as such. Quite annoying. I may save that bit of audio to my phone to pull it out when the discussion of architecture turns to the early 1600's.
Happy New Year and all the very best for 2025. I said to my other half that I bet you would have a cheese sandwich but then you forgot the butter. No buts you've gotta do better😂😂
If any Quantum Physicists do get in touch, they may have already done so - you just don’t know about it yet, be careful with anything they tell you as they often put a different spin on things (that’s the limit of my quantum physics jokes). Happy new Year!

And a MAGNIFICENT time was had by all!!! Happy New Year David! That looked fun and my speed for New Years Eve! The huge parties and concerts or dinner parties for several hundred dollars a plate are well past my idea of a good time. Admittedly, my enthusiasm for concerts waned at around 19, I have much better ideas for fundraisers than $250 for a John plate of chicken thighs, bland greens and cold packaged yeast rolls and the loud boisterous parties were great fun back when people were better trained and good manners were the order of the day vs. now when there are competitions on who can be the loudest, rudest and pushiest at any gathering of more than 25 people.
