This video practically saved me another 2 hours or so from going to waste had I not found it. I think the old version has quite different set-up from the latest one which I am currently using. I felt frustrated when it took me hours to figure out how to change the display images on the main page of the blog when apparently it was an easy fix after all. Great video!! I have a question. My site is basically archival. I was thinking of putting my shows into a blog. I have thousands of episodes of my radio shows. Would you recommend a blog per show, per month or per year? In my blog I would have an html link to the episode or I might use the audio tool available in squarespace. Hey Samilca! Unfortunately, I haven't used Ziper before with Squarespace so I can't speak directly to this! Unfortunately, I don't have any tutorials for this on my channel but it looks like Docusign specifically should have a tool to allow you to embed your form (which you can embed in Squarespace using the "embed" element) 🙂

Anyway, I'm kind of new with building websites. I have a hosted domain name with someone else. I started with Wordpress.org, but it's taking forever to learn every little thing. I just want to do a blog about travel and ESL online teaching. I know you said it would work with any theme I chose, but is there any ones you'd highly recommend that that purpose? For 7.1, to change the date a post was published, click "Edit" on the post from the Blog page. Hover over the date and click it (if you don't see it, click the pencil and toggle "Show Date"). Under Content, click "Status - Published." Scroll down to the calendar, select the desired date, and click "Save" in the upper left corner. And you're done! I'm sure you already found the answer by now, but I hope this helps someone scrolling through the comments. Take care!

Hi! This is very helpful. But we are struggling with changing the title of the blog. When we add a new blog and go to enter there is only body text NOT title and cannot find where else to update the blog title from the generic title blog. HELP, Thanks,
Hey Holly! You should be able to do this by going into your blog and then clicking "edit" and clicking on your current title, or where it says "enter title here"! Once you update it on your page, then it will update it as the title on your website too 🙂 Alternatively, if you go into "blog" (from pages) and click "+" then it will pop a new blog for you and you'll see if you click "edit" that it says "enter title here..." and you can just click on this and begin typing to edit! I hope this helps!!

Hey Ellen! I just double-checked and this is still showing up for me 🙂 Be sure to be in "edit" mode when clicking on this section for it to pop-up! If it still isn't coming up after that, I would reach out to Squarespace support and ask them what might be happening!
I've published my blog entry and now I'm trying to edit and add the comments section....but I'm not finding any section to add that when I'm only blog page. I did go to settings > blogging > and enabled the comment section, but how do I add that on my blog now? I have the 7.1 version. Please help!

Hey Benny! Squarespace has updated a bit since this video! You can also find these same settings if you go into "blog" and then in the left-hand side bar where your blogs are listed, click the 3 dots "..." next to the blog you're wanting to change the comments on then select "settings" > "options" 🙂 I hope this helps!

Hi there, I do not believe this is available in 7.1. According to the Squarespace help section, this is only available in the Farro template and one other. But the confusing part is you cant change templates in 7.1. If you know anything about this please help. Thank you!
Hey Tajuana! You can change this by hovering over the blog post in the blog panel > clicking settings > options > status > click "published" and then change the date! Don't forget to hit save after, too 🙂 I hope this helps!

Hey James! This could just have to do with the template you're using! If you're not loving what the layout is on your site, try changing it out for another template 🙂
Hi Louise! Your videos have been amazing, thank you so much. One question I can't find an answer to... I really like one of the blog formats that displays 4 posts, but I only have one so far... What is the best plan for that? As a temporary solution, I set up a blank page look like a single blog post... But I want to eventually copy/paste into a 4 post template and add more... I also noticed when I tried to do a single format blog post, it still showed a prompt at the bottom of the page for "Read blog 2>>" and there wasn't one yet! Best practice? Thanks.
Hi Hedy! I would just keep it like this for now, until you have more posts 🙂It may be more work to customize it to fit your one blog, only to have to undo all of that hard work later on. Hmm, the read more could just be directing readers to more text in the post! What happens when you click on it?
Thanks for responding, Louise. I figured out that I could set it up as a four blog format and just delete the unused generic blogs, so the fake "Blog 2" titles didn't display. Then I can add new blogs as I write them!
There are different versions of Squarespace - so there is a chance that could be why! This is for Squarespace 7.1, but there is also 7.0 which does look different 🙂
thanks for the tutorial. I'm also on 7.1 but my interface does not match yours - I have ablog post and the tear does not show up at all... Is that dependent on the template?

Hey! You could do this within Squarespace, however, you would have to upgrade your plan to include their Email Campaigns as well 🙂 But, other than that, you're correct! Just the Squarespace plan and a domain! Yay!

Hi Rikki! You can definitely make some pages public and some private under the "pages" tab. To make a page private drag it under the "not linked" section (and then only people you give the link to will have access). Alternatively, you can add passwords to pages. For a blog post, you can schedule posts in the blogging option so that it is on your site but not published until a desired date. I hope this helps! 🙂

Hey Mikaela! It could be that your settings for this have been turned off - and so it's hiding your author profile! Go into your blog > hit edit > hover over the blog post and select the pencil icon to edit > toggle on "show author profile" and hit save 🙂. Hopefully this helps!
Hi Jazz! It could be a few factors causing yours to look different: make sure that you're on Squarespace 7.1 and not 7.0, it could just be a different template, and it could also be the browser (we use Chrome). If you are finding you are still missing features and unable to access certain things I would reach out to Squarespace directly!
@@louisehenry I actually got it going. Watched it again. Also, the experience for Squarespace is different for Canadians. Some of the blocks don't all work the same for us. Sucks but true. I emailed Squarespace support.

On a previous 7.0 site I had organized my blog posts by category. I see where to add a category(ies) to a blog post, but I can't seem to figure out how to make my .com/blog page display the categories. It seems cumbersome for visitors to arrive to my blog page now and then have to scroll to find a blog that fits the category they're looking for... my site is www.monicarockstroh.com/blog for reference. Hi, I was excited to watch your video, but after ten or so minutes, I could not get used to the sing song voice you kept falling into. Using a sing song makes it difficult for people to follow you. NEVER use a sing song. Instead, always continue to speak clearly in a well modulated voice. Go point by point, but not in a sing song, and do NOT drop the tone of your voice at the end of a sentence. Dropping your voice makes the listener unable to hear your final words. How do I know this? I am a college professor that taught public speaking along with English 101 and I thought you might like to know what might turn some people off about your video.

How do you show your latest blog post on the home page using square space? Can't figure this out.
Use a summary block on your home page! Then, select your blog and it should pull in the most recent blog posts 🙂

First, I have been recently following you and have found your videos very helpful. I'm curious, I'm using 7.1. AT 5:04 you go to the "gear icon" to add comments. I do not have a gear icon. I have a brush icon.Was there an update to squarespace?
Hey Benny! Squarespace has updated a bit since this video! You can also find these same settings if you go into "blog" and then in the left-hand side bar where your blogs are listed, click the 3 dots "..." next to the blog you're wanting to change the comments on then select "settings" > "options" 🙂 I hope this helps!

Hi there, I do not believe this is available in 7.1. According to the Squarespace help section, this is only available in the Farro template and one other. But the confusing part is you cant change templates in 7.1. If you know anything about this please help. Thank you!
How do you change the self populating date on the blog entry?
Hey Tajuana! You can change this by hovering over the blog post in the blog panel > clicking settings > options > status > click "published" and then change the date! Don't forget to hit save after, too 🙂 I hope this helps!

Hey James! This could just have to do with the template you're using! If you're not loving what the layout is on your site, try changing it out for another template 🙂
Hi Louise! Your videos have been amazing, thank you so much. One question I can't find an answer to... I really like one of the blog formats that displays 4 posts, but I only have one so far... What is the best plan for that? As a temporary solution, I set up a blank page look like a single blog post... But I want to eventually copy/paste into a 4 post template and add more... I also noticed when I tried to do a single format blog post, it still showed a prompt at the bottom of the page for "Read blog 2>>" and there wasn't one yet! Best practice? Thanks.
Hi Hedy! I would just keep it like this for now, until you have more posts 🙂It may be more work to customize it to fit your one blog, only to have to undo all of that hard work later on. Hmm, the read more could just be directing readers to more text in the post! What happens when you click on it?
Thanks for responding, Louise. I figured out that I could set it up as a four blog format and just delete the unused generic blogs, so the fake "Blog 2" titles didn't display. Then I can add new blogs as I write them!
I do not get the option to choose the blog layout page at 1:35? Do I have an older version of squarespace?
There are different versions of Squarespace - so there is a chance that could be why! This is for Squarespace 7.1, but there is also 7.0 which does look different 🙂
thanks for the tutorial. I'm also on 7.1 but my interface does not match yours - I have ablog post and the tear does not show up at all... Is that dependent on the template?

Hi Sophia! You can add a "subscribe" button to your blog posts and when someone subscribes to your blog then they will get notifications 🙂

Hey! You could do this within Squarespace, however, you would have to upgrade your plan to include their Email Campaigns as well 🙂 But, other than that, you're correct! Just the Squarespace plan and a domain! Yay!

For SEO purposes, I would include over 300 words but Blogtyrant suggests under 1000! I hope that helps! 🙂
Hi Louise, do you know if you can make some pages private and some public? Like if you’re working on some blog posts you can publish them at a later time but you’ve still created them on there- But the rest of the website will still be visible? If that makes sense? Thank you 😊
Hi Rikki! You can definitely make some pages public and some private under the "pages" tab. To make a page private drag it under the "not linked" section (and then only people you give the link to will have access). Alternatively, you can add passwords to pages. For a blog post, you can schedule posts in the blogging option so that it is on your site but not published until a desired date. I hope this helps! 🙂

Hey Mikaela! It could be that your settings for this have been turned off - and so it's hiding your author profile! Go into your blog > hit edit > hover over the blog post and select the pencil icon to edit > toggle on "show author profile" and hit save 🙂. Hopefully this helps!

My squarespace looks different? Just got it.
Hi Jazz! It could be a few factors causing yours to look different: make sure that you're on Squarespace 7.1 and not 7.0, it could just be a different template, and it could also be the browser (we use Chrome). If you are finding you are still missing features and unable to access certain things I would reach out to Squarespace directly!
@@louisehenry I actually got it going. Watched it again. Also, the experience for Squarespace is different for Canadians. Some of the blocks don't all work the same for us. Sucks but true. I emailed Squarespace support.

On a previous 7.0 site I had organized my blog posts by category. I see where to add a category(ies) to a blog post, but I can't seem to figure out how to make my .com/blog page display the categories. It seems cumbersome for visitors to arrive to my blog page now and then have to scroll to find a blog that fits the category they're looking for... my site is www.monicarockstroh.com/blog for reference. Specifically, I would like to add buttons to the top of the blog page for different topics rather than a sidebar. Any help with this would be insanely appreciated! Thank you. :) I also just noticed I am trying to create something very similar to how you currently have your blogs organized on your page.

Hi, I was excited to watch your video, but after ten or so minutes, I could not get used to the sing song voice you kept falling into. Using a sing song makes it difficult for people to follow you. NEVER use a sing song. Instead, always continue to speak clearly in a well modulated voice. Go point by point, but not in a sing song, and do NOT drop the tone of your voice at the end of a sentence. Dropping your voice makes the listener unable to hear your final words. How do I know this? I am a college professor that taught public speaking along with English 101 and I thought you might like to know what might turn some people off about your video.
