- My name is Annie. I’m 15 years old. About three years ago I found out that my mom was not actually my mother. Turns out she kidnapped me from the hospital. My life was turned upside down. They wanted to change my name! I can’t get used to my new family. I’m so unhappy and I have no one to talk to about these things. Let me tell you everything from the beginning. To make sure that you don’t get confused about who’s who, I’ll refer to the woman who brought me up as my fake mom. The woman who gave birth to me and who I’m living with now, I’ll call my real mom.

Annie, you're very realistic person even at your young age. Remember one thing, never change yourself for anyone, whatever whoever say. Family is something god-given that we can't choose, but that doesn't mean we've to bear such burden for whole life. Another thing, real-family never undermine or do something to hurt, they'll always suppose to accept as you are, no matter how much unorthodox it is. family members never abandon no matter what the situation is or hate/dislike other member. Most importantly, blood not always makes you family but the bond you share. I hope & pray for best of you.

This girl needs counseling bad. Her biological family does too. If I were her biological parents I'd get into contact with the man who thought he was the father. How does he feel? Does he want contact with Annie? If he does, work with counselors. Emails, phone calls but set boundaries. It could help her adjust as he is a victum too. The biological mom needs to accept she wants the name Crystal, not Annie and call her Crystal like the rest of the family, even though it hurts. She's still your child it will help her adjust. Get to know the fake dad too if he wants contact with Crystal. In time invite him to visit. She loves him and is lost. Treat him like an uncle. Supervised visits at first though. Talk to the therpist about how to handle the kidnapper who their daughters wants back. Tell her how you fell and that at 18 if she decides she wants still to contact he kidnapper, agree to it with a therperist present and at least the biological father. The biological mother only if she can accept this is best her Crystal.

For once, a story that, while not true, has some moderate emotional truth to it. These stories _have_ happened. She is under no obligation to force love for a family she doesn't know. They're strangers to her. She wishes them no ill will, and may be fond of them, but you cannot force bonds created in your early days to suddenly, magically appear. Her real parents have suffered great pain, and she does not want to increase that pain, but it's hard to bond from what should have been formed from infancy.
That said, it may be up to her to start building those bonds on her own. Her biological family has suffered dearly, and her bio mom especially. She is just a teenager. It may be easier after she matures more into an adult woman and becomes a mother herself, to get a glimpse of her bio family's suffering.
I don’t understand why most of you are calling the girl ‘ungrateful’. If you lived with wonderful people who treated you like a princess for 12 years then find out that you were kidnapped and you were sent to live with people who you have never met before and are expected to love them automatically, would you really love them? I wouldn’t, I would be so confused and upset. Yes, I know that it’s a horrible thing that she was kidnapped in the first place but what about her fake father? He thought that she was his actual daughter and just to have her ripped away from him and not being able to see her has to suck ass and is totally unfair. It’s hard on both the daughter and the biological mother, Annie grew up with the kidnapper no matter what she has done it’s still her mom they have a bond you can’t blame her for that. The girl isn't ungrateful or greedy. She had a happy life and a loving family, and then it was taken away from her. She met her biological parents for the first time in her life 12 years after her birth, there's no family bond between them, so her feelings are just natural.
