Horslips - Dearg Doom

25 years in the waiting and the Church of Saint James rocked to the rafters as the Four Poxmen of the Horslips took to the stage and reminded us all that we might have been young but we surely weren't stupid. So auspicious an occasion was it that Eamon showed up and played. It very seldom, ever, gets better. Unless there maybe is such a thing as a sanity clause.......

Epic band. Was at the Rebellion Fesival (Punk) last week at Blackpool and met a gezzer who's "da" was from Belfast. He was brought up in England but did a great Belfast accent Ha Ha. He had been in punk bands all his life and I said " have you ever heard of Horslips?" and he burst into singing The Man Who Built America. The Irony is that it was my great Grandad who helped build America as a steel erector in the shipyards on the hog Island site on the Delaware River in 1918. I saw Horslips in Belfast in 1975.

This is great! I love this song. My first tape recorder had a few tapes with it and two speekers soldered. That was in Arizona somewhat the mid 70s. Great Video, thx

The 70s produced this greatest of Irish Rock Bands - Butt Hall Ballybofey the memories -wooden dance floor trampolining up and down to us freaking out and jigging in circles gong mad - Charlie fiddling like a giant leprechaun on the top of the speakers - our sweat rising as a mist in the flashing lights - coming back down from the old wooden rafters as rain to cool us so - the balcony bouncing up and down to the rhythm of Carrs beats - and then that unique blind of Irish roots music with raving rock Feandish guitar - teen memories are made of this !

I have memories of hearing something by Horslips back in the day. Must have been good otherwise no-way I'd have any memories of that name at all. Got here via Rte.ie - checking on how Brexit is panning out in the home of Father Ted.
