Don't think you are biased at all, my friend. I just went and checked the Jalisco obsidian, and I'm at a loss for words. The depth of color, random patterns and unique striations are simply amazing. The beauty of that material defies logic. It almost looks man made. I'm in awe. On that same note, have you ever seen any examples of Libyan Desert Glass? Apparently, thousands of years ago, an asteroid struck the desert and vitrified the sand around the area of the strike and produced a pale green/yellow glass. I don't know if it can be knapped, but there are examples of the glass being used as gemstones by ancient Egyptian royalty.
That Libyan Desert Glass looks knappable but I have never seen it in person. It would be one of those materials I would be reluctant to knap due to its high market value....I'm good at breaking pieces haha
