- On today's episode of The Senstennial Podcast, we discuss NHL free agency, and the signings that Ottawa made on July 1st. We discuss the signings of Michael Amadio, David Perron, and Noah Gregor, and what we believe they can provide for the Senators. We also debate general manager Steve Staios' mindset going into free agency, and what we believe he envisions the Sens playing like this coming season.
This is the fourth part of a six-part 2024 Sens off-season special!

The Sens, for the most part, have been weak on the boards and are not great at winning puck battles. In a game where puck possession is key, Staios has added that capability in his FA signings. I like the direction.
3 of big problems with this team last year were:
Goaltending: Big upgrade with Ullmark
The team spiraling when they are down: added some veteran leadership to avoid the spiraling and improved defensively and in goal to avoid going down.
Lack of grit other than Brady: added some sandpaper with Perron, Amadio, Grgor and Jensen, plus even more help coming with a draft full of big players. Moving on from Branny and giving Klevin those minutes should hopefully help there too
A couple of our hosts were big Branny fans, but the NHL seems to be gravitating back towards having bigger players on the blueline, so I get why Ottawa decided to move on. I'm curious to see how Kleven fares in a full-time NHL role.
I think you’re underestimating Gregor a bit. I think fans will really like him. Having said that if it comes down to one or the other I’d probably prefer crookshank. Hope he gets a fair chance.
Gregor is basically Parker Kelly but faster and heavier.. he for sure upgrades our PK and 4th line
Gregor was worse analytically in almost every facet when compared to Kelly, but I hope you're both right. I'd also prefer Crookshank over Gregor. Guess we'll see how they both look in training camp!
Amadio started with L.A then only suited for the Sens for 5 games before he went to Toronto back in 2021 then Vegas, as for Perron, i think he only stays for 1 year
