Portable generator is a life saver. I know mine gas come in handy several power outages. Its gives you a warm feeling when you look outside at night and your the only one on your block with lights on. In 2009 we had a major ice storm that knocked the power out for 7 days. The houses and Street were pitched dark. Everyone else had to stay with family or in a hotel. Some of my friends were out just a couple days but they came over and stayed with me and my wife because they knew I was a preper. We wached DVD movies and made breakfast and cookies LOL. They have there own generator now and starting peeping themselves.
I find a small 2-3 foot long piece of garden hose put over the end of the funnel, and then into the opening makes life easier to get at awkward oil openings
Awesome instruction video! Thank you. Just in time since I just bought one of these from Harbor Freight a couple of days ago. Dick is not available to help so a neighbor will help me get familiar with the unit. your instruction video was really helpful. Can't get a wheel kit from HF since they are not carrying them any more so I think I will use a dolly if the generator fits on it. Christina
⚠️Portable Generator Safety Tips: 1) KEEPING OTHERS SAFE: Please do not allow an unqualified person or your children to operate and service the portable generator. Just because some manuals don’t say that doesn’t mean it’s safe. That is important against the generator safety rules. We also need to be keeping an eye on our children too. You need to make sure that your children are not playing near the portable generator especially when it’s running so they won’t get electrocuted. Generators pose electrical risks and they can be hot during an operation. Please keep your children away from the portable generator at all times. It is important to keep our children safe especially our little ones. Be aware of all the hazards. 2) WHERE TO RUN YOUR GENERATOR: Some people use their portable generators indoors which increases the risk of carbon monoxide poisoning. It’s important to have a carbon monoxide if you have a gas generator. Never ever use your generator indoors even if your doors and windows are open and even in the garage is not safe to use a portable generator. Also please never use your generator in your deck or balcony. It is never safe to use your generator indoors and in enclosed areas of your home. Your generator needs to be 15-20 feet away from your house. 3)🔥FIRE HAZARDS: Never refuel your generator while it’s running. You need to let your generator cool off before refueling it and before storing your generator. Never overload your generator too. Never ever back feed your generator. You should never plug your generator into a wall outlet. Also never store propane tanks indoors. Please keep flammable things away from the generator as well and please don’t smoke cigarettes near the generator. Having a fire extinguisher next to the generator is also important against the generator safety rules. It’s also not safe to move your generator while it’s running. 4) GENERATOR OPERATION: make sure your hands are dry before touching the generator. Never use your generator in wet conditions. Don’t let your generator get wet. You need a generator tent if you need to use your generator during wet weather. Please don’t wear loose clothes when operating the generator. Turn on your generator before plugging in appliances. Use the right cord for your generator. just read the wattage on the generator and then compare that to the appliance you'd like to run. Best to test it now, when it's not critical that you need it..then you can plan ahead
Personally I'd reserve this one for emergency power backup...like we used it for 4 days about 2 months ago. It ran a fridge/freezer, portable AC, Lights, fans and a TV/DVD combo. I think this is too Loud to be Campground Friendly....I'd get a smaller one. Harbor Freight sells one about 1/3 this size. Thanks for watching. Good Luck.

Funny you mentioned chaining it to your car, I'm going to be in the same boat when I get mine, as I have no trees or anything else out there to secure it to. I'm also thinking of ways to protect it from weather, I may build a box with 3 sides and a top (leave a side open for circulation and access)

i have had my generator just as long as you have am just wondering is it still working pretty good not much trouble with mine except the pullstring broke but very easy to repair oh by the way mine is 3000 watts which is ok for me

So when starting a brand new one, fill oil with recommended oil type based on state, and fill gas (regular 87 unleaded) and then start? What about when storing it for long periods of time? Do I just leave the gas and oil to rest?
Not sure if this helps but do not store it with fuel in it at all, pull the line off at the carburetor, drain that gas,I "fog" or spray wd40 (a few squirts) to keep tank from rusting, then run it with the fuel line off,for 30 or 40 seconds. If you leave ethanol fuel in it,it'll ruin stuff in the carburetor, leave the oil in,if you leave gas in it,it'll clog the carb, then the fuel shutoff will fail, putting gas in the oil..this is bad..so just do that when it's stored

this is the generator i was planning to get as emergency backup. for average size home, seems like the perfect fit. harbor shows it for $339 and i have a 30% coupon. i think this is the perfect time to get it.
@@ExcelDriveVideo user manual are sometimes misleading. It suggests you to use an API S certified motor oil, cause the sae 10w30 isn't recommended in warmer climate. In warmer climate, you have to switch to a slightly thicker motor oil like Sae 40 and 10/15w40 which can withstand all this heat produced by the engine. A w30 oil will break down easily while the w40 will still have it's film strength
One suggestion i have is to use ethanol free gas , this is becourse if the generator are standing a longtime with ethanolgas it gums up the carburator and that can be expensive to fix.
Put Generator On Lawn,23 Feet From house.Have 4 board's About 3 Feet Long, and 1 1/2 Feet Wide. And Lay Them Around Gen.One End On Top Of Gen.And Other End On Ground. As If your going to Put A Toy Car On top and goin to Let It roll Down the board to Grass.Do This on 4 side's Of Gen.For Noise''After you Fuel It,And Start It.If New,Break It In,Let It Run for 1 hour,Witjout Pluging In Anything.Refill The Fuel Tank,And Oil.Restart and Plug You Surge Cord That Has 5 Outlet's,and Plug In Whatever. You Can Put It Under Canopy In Case Of Rain Also.Keep It Where you Can See It From A Window,And Maby Chain to Tree,Shed,Etc.If you Live in A Bad Area.Dont Let It run Out Of Fuel,Watch the Gaudge Every now And Then,And When It's Low,Shut It Off.You Can Also Connect A Dry Deep Cell Battery,And Let It Run Off That sometime's,and Just Recharge It Now and then. That Way The Gen Isent runnin All The Time.Or Even 2 Deep Cell Battery's..Also you Can Add Solar Pannel's,About 3.3 Feet Long. And don't Run It So Fast When you Take It Out Of The box,Baby It,Turn It down and Walk It,Before you run It,Break It In right,Easy doed It,Now go in the house, and have A Beer, lol
Batia Segal can anyone tell me exactly how to attach battery terminals on my champion dual fuel gen??? I've charged it but don't know how to connect leads properly.
We have used the th-cam.com/users/postUgkxOTeIs0vv4_9B5hsmnLsk9r930uDQLu_Y for probably 30 hours with our camper and it’s been great! The noise level is really only noticeable when running the AC and other appliances like the microwave, hair dryer, or coffee pot. It’s not huge like other ones and it has wheels so even at 90lbs, I can move it!
Don’t forget to watch this video about generator safety th-cam.com/video/I1jT3ANENvI/w-d-xo.html just hoping you stay safe. Remember that carbon monoxide is a silent killer.
Glad I didn't get one of these. I don't have to worry about splitting the load equally. And people who buy these are not happy with the 13 amp breakers. Bottom line is if you want 240, go with the Predator one size up from this. 5500/6500 watts. It has 20 amp breakers. And more wattage when running 240. If you don't need 240 but want the 3.5KW price range, don't buy this Predator. Other generators in this price range have 20 amp breakers.
Probably you didn't activate the 'run' valve. First check that your fuel valve is on then after 10 seconds of the generator running turn it from 'choke' to 'run'

Not needed per 29 CFR 1926.404(f)(3)(i). The frame of the generator unit is the ground. If you're going to power circuits in your home, a properly connected interface will provide the necessary grounding.
So many things were wrong in this vid, currently I’m a small engine technician by trade. Please read the owners manual word for word before making a video. Ever hear of a few primer pulls? Jeeze this guy just dumps fuel in and oil than run it to the moon. I’m currently restoring 4 antique generators and one powers my house. No disrespect but please everyone just read your owners manual before attempting to use them. All 4 I just picked up we’re all dirt cheap due to neglect. I still don’t see why people need to chain them to trees and cars, get out of the hood. All of my generators don’t move at all, not even my welding generator. Maintain your equipment and you won’t have problems. I have had the same old winco generator powering my house for 20 years and never has taken me more than 3 pulls to start it after sitting for almost an entire year with old gas. I built a welding generator into a trailer and that powers much more than I can handle at campgrounds. Before anyone does buy any of them I highly recommend doing lots and lots of research. I can send what some basic electronics require to run. Pm me and I will send my best.
It's been reliable. I've used it for several outages. Maybe 100 hours total so far and I'm pleased.

These genies are awesome... It's not advertised on the box, but they DO have an automatic voltage regulated on them.
For first time use pull the crank a few times gently to get the oil through the engine, then crank to start

Use the right cord for your generator. Please do not use worn out cords.
th-cam.com/users/shortseFigDfnPkcQ?feature=share and here is a short video more about keeping others safe when using generators. Portable generators need maintenance so it’s important to follow the safety instructions.
Hope this helps
this is the generator i was planning to get as emergency backup. for average size home, seems like the perfect fit. harbor shows it for $339 and i have a 30% coupon. i think this is the perfect time to get it.
You seem to be planning this right. Buy it BEFORE you need it. Then you'll be a hero for the family. Thx for watching!
Thank for sharing, I need a generator. :)
Yep, fuel gauge is rather simple, it's on top, and works
does this have a fuel gauge? I am seriously considering this thing. ive got one of those 2 stroke deals and i hate it. wont even run my fridge.
I have the Smaller Predator 1800watt an the little Storm Cat 900watt max. They both run great if you don’t abuse them too much!!!
One suggestion i have is to use ethanol free gas , this is becourse if the generator are standing a longtime with ethanolgas it gums up the carburator and that can be expensive to fix.
Just turn gas tap to OFF, then run engine to empty carb when leaving it stood for long periods!! Problem solved.
GREAT VIDEO. VERY HELPFUL. 👍
Thanks for good video.
nice generator and it is quite, not making disturbing to neighborhood.
Any suggestion to reduce the noise level ?
i know its tiny, but it seems to me it could run a fridge, or even an A/C
Good Point.
i have the same generator and i run my hole house on it i use all the plugs in my house no problem well worth the money !
Which trun off gas line
did u have to add a fuel stabilizer?? I know it's says on the generator ?? thanks

Hurricane Irma is coming for my ass so here I am
Yup, you should be safe.
Batia Segal can anyone tell me exactly how to attach battery terminals on my champion dual fuel gen??? I've charged it but don't know how to connect leads properly.
KL Best = unless you know more about Batia Segal then what that post implies; I would ask anyone else that question.
Very nice quality generator and started up well, but they didn't put wheels on it so it could be easy to move around. Good video though.
I believe you are using a "funnel" and NOT a "filter" to fill the Oil and Gas. LOL
خ
Just remember fridge freezers are inductive loads and draw like crazy when the pumps kick in massively increasing your load
Nice one!
I want to know about its cooling system.
Don’t forget to watch this video about generator safety th-cam.com/video/I1jT3ANENvI/w-d-xo.html just hoping you stay safe. Remember that carbon monoxide is a silent killer.
i have a 4000watt predator generator. what kind oil should i use for it?
the 10w30 or 5w30?
Read the manual. Most use SAE 10W30.
Very good I like.
Nice machines

Qual é o valor e forma de pagamento?
fuel costs how much?
Wow!
Thanks dad
+ExcelDriveVideo How much electricity generators tend to consume fuel? How much horsepower is in this generator?
Mr.BassPwr must generators don't consume much fuel and this model is 3hp
Glad I didn't get one of these. I don't have to worry about splitting the load equally. And people who buy these are not happy with the 13 amp breakers. Bottom line is if you want 240, go with the Predator one size up from this. 5500/6500 watts. It has 20 amp breakers. And more wattage when running 240. If you don't need 240 but want the 3.5KW price range, don't buy this Predator. Other generators in this price range have 20 amp breakers.
Lane how open a box
I caught my brother watching this and questioned his well being.
😂😂
Why does my generator keep cutting off at start?
Probably you didn't activate the 'run' valve. First check that your fuel valve is on then after 10 seconds of the generator running turn it from 'choke' to 'run'
Buy a kit to run it on natural gas if you have natural gas in your area. Worth the 200 bucks and a little work.

sounds like you didnt put the muffler on lol
كيف تزيد الكهرباء
Wow
no grounding?
Not needed per 29 CFR 1926.404(f)(3)(i). The frame of the generator unit is the ground. If you're going to power circuits in your home, a properly connected interface will provide the necessary grounding.
The generator should be on the ground or connected to a ground wire.

disregard my previous comment. i really need to learn to watch the whole video before asking things. sorry about that
That was funny watching you use a pliers to pull out staples out of a cardboard box. That’s the point I clicked off the video. Lol
Americans like talking poes before getting to the point
It's been 8 years
I still don't know how to switch it off🤦
Unfortunately generators are way too expensive, and cost $30 for gas to operate for a full 24 hours a day.
Not connecting the earth then :(
I wish they werent so dang loud
