Props to Phil he genuinely liked the band, he had a Thursday night show on Radio One in the very early 90s, and that was where i first heard The Sundays and The The too among others; very catholic taste, big 'indie/alternative' fan back in the day! Great footage. x
I would do anything to warp back in time, answer that question, and win that box. So amazing. What a great and generous interview. The best band that isn't appreciated as much as it should be.
What a fascinating interview, hearing all of the band speak, not just Paddy. I can't believe Paddy gave away his own gold disc! I wonder who got it? I only hope they've treasured it over the years.
No artifice to any of this. Imagine such a thoughftul and modest interview with a pop band on a kid's tv show these days... Our culture has dumbed down so much, in such a short time.... Bittersweet....
Who would have thought at the time that in 2020 you could look back at 'Going Live' and say 'that's a cultural high point' in not only children's Saturday morning TV but light entertainment in general! 100% correct Daniel, we live in sad times where intelligence isn't valued, genuine interest/enquiry doesn't exist and musicians and celebrities are vacuous self-obsessed children.
Schofield thinks he's funny trying to make out theres fillers on this masterpiece. Martin is deadly serious when he says actually we had loads more brilliant tracks that wouldn't fit.
I feel so sorry for these four talented, intelligent individuals having to talk to endless idiots and pretend to be idiots themselves. No wonder Paddy decided to lock himself in Andromeda Heights with the phone off the hook.
Could be, but I think you're too late, the prize will have been won by now. Unless Philip forgot to do the draw. Might be worth sending a postcard to BBC, Woodlane etc.
I loved them in my youth & here I am in 2020 falling in love with them all over again, timeless music XXXX
My mum went round with this band behind the scenes and was good friends with Wendy ahah I’m sure no one cares but oh well ahh❤️💗💘☺️
I think that's great. I had a BIG crush on Wendy. She looks absolutely gorgeous in this interview.
That´s super interesting! You should make a video about that.
I admire the work Wendy is doing now.
Oooooh WENDY!
Legal
I just love everything about this band.
Prefab Sprout have provided my life with the greatest of soundtracks and I will forever be grateful.
many of the songs keep me warm, sane and tearful, sentimental but optimistic as a widow
Love Paddy great modest guy articulate and intelligent what more could you want for an interview
Loved this. Agree that it seems incredible that such a band was interviewed in a fairly intelligent manner on children's tv. Pure gold!
Paddy=Art and genius
One modest and brave man, really like him and his style, no fake in him
Legend
Amazing to consider putting nineteen songs on an album today. Thankful for Prefab Sprout. Interesting clip.

Ah, North East accents! Love it.
Best band ever ❤👍🇨🇭

Thank you Sproutnet for all the Sprout cake we get to eat.
buena band... no saben cuanto me gusta su música... saludos desde Perú

This is a beautiful post about one of most inspiring albums. Thanks so much!
That's sweet, kuddos for uploading that ! I had never heard Wendy's nor Neil's speaking voice, that's weird :)
Really was a stunning set of prizes that!!!

Totally spot on.
And the prizes are awesome as well !

those phones
Wow how different does Paddy look back then and Wendy was gorgeous
Poor Neil, didn't get to say a word, or Martin really for that matter.
HOW AM I NOT A MEMBER OF THIS GROUP?
I feel so sorry for these four talented, intelligent individuals having to talk to endless idiots and pretend to be idiots themselves. No wonder Paddy decided to lock himself in Andromeda Heights with the phone off the hook.
So who was the luckiest PS ever... I mean, Paddy's personal gold record?
Wow.I wonder who has the gold record?!
I've only just realised the answer to Wendy's question.
Doh!
I think it's Notting Hill Carnival.
notting hill carnival??
Could be, but I think you're too late, the prize will have been won by now. Unless Philip forgot to do the draw. Might be worth sending a postcard to BBC, Woodlane etc.
Come on who won it?
Would love to see all the Prefab Sprout's on This Morning's show with Philip Schofield.
But no Schofield please.
What song had they just played?

From Wendy’s question at the end, I’m guessing Carnival 2000
