  • After being given away by his drug addict parents at 5 years old, his horrendous treatment at the hands of his Jehovah's Witness foster mother can only be described as torture.
How did Christopher Spry and his siblings slip through the cracks and endure some of the worst child abuse the country has ever seen?

I was pushed under the bath water by my mother at about the age of 7.face up. I remember seeing her face rippling through the water, thought I was going to die! In adult hood I brought this up and was told that my Father did this. He didnt! Lies. denial. Other incidents too, she is a narcissist and has destroyed my early life and Im ok now but my sister has severe mental health issues and can not function. She was psychologically abusive to my sister but physically and psychologically abuse to me. I managed to sort my head out in my 30's but my sister has developed slowly and has a younger brain and autism. We never have told the authorities, but my step dad got me taken away from her by the courts when he divorced her as he thought she would kill me. He left my sister which was his child with her. The worst mistake he ever did for her well being. This was because she was only violent to me , she was then emotionally abused until she left home. Was told I was a thief for having a biscuit. Many more things happened. She has never been held accountable even the court didnt prosecute her when I was removed in the 70's.I feel she should be..she should be held accountable but shes old now. Love to you Christopher Spry you never deserved any of the cruelty you went through❤

Watch tower founder Charles Taze Russel and the next president Joseph Rutherford were both SDA before they were a JW so it’s no wonder that a lot of Ellen G. White, the founder of the SDA doctrines were woven into the JW doctrines and theology. Also I left my body in once and returned back, and I know 100% that our spirit is our true self and not the body. I also know exactly what is is like to be out of the body. If I lied on what happened to me about leaving my body, Yahweh or your Jehovah, an created name, can strike me anytime in my lifetime. I do NOT lie.

  • @cultfiction3865

I was raised Jehovah's witness in the similar era to Chris and I agree that tue average Jehovahs witness is stricter than the average parent in general. In my opinion the problem comes down to educational understanding. The book of proverbs uses hyperbole the entire way through, exaggeration been an effective vehicle to impart a general principle. Whicever verse says use the rod is really just more hyperbole that is emphasizing the need for parental correction. Its not really an inducement to hit a child with a rod though. Sometimes the issue with JWs is they arent all highly educated so they quickly believe something based on face value, with little interest in the wider context. Especially when the same old verses are hammered home repeatedly outside the context.
And less intelligent people out there are spoon fed, they dont do reliable research. Thats the same for poorly educated people the world over.
Still, most in my congregation didnt spank, save the odd few. But these days they are just like anyone else. They are politically correct andbtoo afraid to smack their kids.

@@steve__youtube Well, yes and no. I'm and haven't been to a kingdom hall in at least 5 years. But I'm still technically a member. Some things in life I'm on the fence about and this is one of them. Some of the criticisms of JWs is valid to a certain extent and I'd be unfair if I did what most JWs do and say it wasn't. Things like claiming to be neutral about the covid vaccine then subsequently encouraging congregations to take it. Having countless numbers of kingdom halls built then selling most of them 20 or so years later with reasons given that don't seem acceptable to an intelligent mind. And of course some previous points of teaching that have since been altered that again, weaken my faith as a natural consequence of that.
On the other hand though, even if they were Gods chosen group, they are still made up of humans so it's not entirely unreasonable to expect them to falter at times. Even under the most righteous kings of Israel, said kings didn't always observe the law of Moses as they were supposed to. Yet God still spoke of these Kings as being righteous. So unlike most that refuse to take any middle ground, I do because it seems a more accurate assessment. But it contributes to why I slowly became inactive but still consider myself a Jehovah's witness since I was raised as one and in my mind, you are what you were raised as unless you revoke your membership

@@steve__youtube Not from me I shouldn't have thought. Although anything is possible with me. I've never said to anyone I wouldn't ever go back to meetings, but at the moment I cannot be bothered since it's too far now they have gone selling off the local Kingdom hall. I've no real baggage pulling me in any direction since I'm not married so I can decide for myself without feeling under pressure to please anyone else. Growing up my entire family were active Jehovah's witnesses and now none of them are. Although, my sister is probably the only one that completely disbelieves it. The rest seem like they believe the Bible but don't feel like they want to get involved at this time. Apart from my sister, none of us are opposed though

@cultfiction3865 how did your family become JW's, was it passed down to them through previous generations, or are they 1st generation JW's, if that is a thing. Sorry for my lack of knowledge around the belief. It's pretty secretive, but in the same breath, not, well, that is how I perceive it. How come your family stopped following the JW way in the end, was there a certain thing that happened, or did they just decide off their own back it wasn't for them?
Myself, I'm an open-minded person who is interested in all faiths but it seems to me that JW's fall into a bit more of an extreme belief system, especially when it comes down to not accepting blood transfusions along with many other traits of the practice.
I'm more of a spiritual person and believe there is one God or entity that's made everyone and everything. As I've got older I've took more on board as I was once a staunch atheist. Nice to get an understanding of these things. Listening to this podcast has left me with so many questions as you can probably tell lol.

Are you saying the mother was cruel because she was a JW? The language is terrible.
