    Yagoo on interviews & Cover on latest financial report stated they're searching for talents with expert knowledge on niche things so they can expand their viewer base. They used Raden as an example of this. So normal good streamer won't cut it anymore.

    Hololive is now the top dog of the industry, they can have their pick of the cream of the crop and their fanbase also probably expect the ‘best’ from them.
    Really I think that’s why Dev_is comes into play- to put together the weirdos applicants without having the pressure of the main branch.

      That could be, but my opinion is since the Main branch is looking for High Quality weirdos, Dev_IS is more for the ones that aren't quite weird enough but are still very promising.

      ​@@MintyPolaroid The main channel had prime weirdos from the get-go. Just look at Matsuri, Haachama, Korone, Nene, Polka, etc.
      Dev_is looks to be a passion projecr of Yagoo to assemble a group with a specific niche like the Gamers but they decided it to be separate from the main branch. I do predict it won't take long until they're absorbed into the main branch in a year or 2.

    1200 to 1 sounds like optimistic odds if you ask me. It's more like "you AIN'T getting in without a good skill reference _and_ connections inside". Not all that different from VShojo.

      VShojo hasn't even held auditions in the past couple years and merely took in free agents while Cover's screening process is the toughest to get through in the vtuber space.

      This was 3 years ago. Imagine how insane it must be now.
      In fact, they may have switched entirely to just scouting people and not accepting applications.
      And since they recently announced that they're not going to introduce any new generations for a while and focus on their current roster, who knows how long it might be until we see any real push for more members.

      Yeah 1200 felt like anyone have a pretty good chance of getting in. While I do feel that "connections" might not be a thing anymore now, it does look like it used to be a point back then. In quotations because I don't think they have connections to the company, but rather other talents knew of them. It might not make it a guaranteed pass, but it could at least help gain some points on the screening because someone else could vouch for their talents or personality. But these days they seem to really look for someone that's "catchy", someone with a quirk or twist, one that can really stand out along with other talents in the company, so connections wouldn't really help much if they don't have something interesting to offer.
      1200 to 1 felt way too generous. I'd say it's probably 4-5 times of that, or maybe even an extra digit or two for the extreme.

      lol what do you mean? although the early gens were hired through recommendations. Do you really think Cover still does that?
