aspiknf that's the best part about Shane. A string of great words may be great on their own, but the delivery is what can see them through to your heart.
i guess Im asking randomly but does anyone know of a method to log back into an instagram account..? I stupidly lost the account password. I love any tips you can offer me.
@Curtis Rodney Thanks for your reply. I got to the site thru google and I'm waiting for the hacking stuff atm. I see it takes a while so I will reply here later with my results.
Shane, you have made me understand poetry. It makes sense now, and boy is it a gift. Finally the urges of my soul are now being fed. Ever since I saw you on TED things are way different. THANK YOU
I was really close with my grandma as a kid, she was more than a second mom. She didn't raise me perse but she was the person I ran to for everything. I also remember having night terrors and not being able to sleep/stay asleep/etc. She was similar to his grandfather in a lot of ways and I see pieces of her scattered throughout. She passed away 11 years ago, and I resonate with this poem (and others he's done about his grandfather) so much. Every time I listen to this it reminds me of her and makes me cry. I miss her so much sometimes, I don't realize how much it effects me until it hits me. I've long accepted that she's gone but there's still moments where I come back to this poem, and let myself feel it. If I could I would love to thank him for expressing this, and writing this because it is so cathartic for me.
"some hearts are like dark bedrooms.... some people are waiting for people like us to turn on a light." thank you for illuminating the darkness so we can see.
Since I saw Shane's Video in TED Talk the first time, I've been following all of his videos and his poetry.. This man is like one in a life time.. make sure we enjoy him, his personality and most of all, his poetry.... Feeling AWESOME!!!!
I sincerely needed that Mr. Koyczan. I needed a good laugh, a small chuckle and that tad bit of light in my life. Honestly just speechless right now--I'm still drinking in the words, performance and meaning. Thank you.
@@Jindorek "The Crickets Have Arthritis" is so amazing as well, but the full version of "To this day" cannot really be compared with anything else... it's in a league of its' own.
The thing is though that you can't learn to be a good poet. You have to have some have something happen. He doesn't just write these, he lived these poems.
McGuin Gaming Yes but poems dont have to be about things that happened to you. take the poem troll for example. he made that poem because to this day didnt cover cyber bullying. but shane never was cyber bullied as a kid. or his poem shoulders. they are poems about the world...
Sometimes when we believe in monsters, they take up residence under our beds. Our heads fill with the dread needed to keep them fed. We tread our own fear because we somehow thought it was better off being kept secret. It should come as no surprise that some hearts are like a dark bedrooms - tombs that we allowed ourselves to shut because we thought that way, everything will be all right.
the emotion that he puts into his speeches is amazing. Shane is truly an amazing man who has been through so much. I don't personally know him but I am so proud of him as a person. I truly love him. He is amazing. Perfection. 💓💓💓💓💓
I'll admit I was never really into poetry... Recently I've stumbled upon you. Now not only am I completely in tears because of your words. But I have been inspired and saved. Thank you so much Shane.
My son played one of your speakings for me while we were at a 24 hr vet please keep telling your stories your rings to us and serves as a shining star in the bitter darkness I lost my baby boy my only son a few months after listening to "the crickets have arthritis" thank you
That is a rocking grandfather, kicking butt and taking names of invisible monsters just to protect his kid imagination, THAT is a grandfather right there.
That actually made me cry. I never cry, but I couldn't help it. This was beautiful and heart warming and it made me think of my dad. He says I make every day of his miserable, but I still love him. I just miss the old him. This video is amazing and I love Shane. I hope to be able to be as good at writing and poetry and provoking emotion.
Thank you Shane. I will stand up to my nightmares and night terrors with a bit more confidence thanks to you and your grandpappy. It truly touches the soul the way you animate your words with gestures. I feel like you're taking me on a safari boat of my fears and it's easier to counter them.
i came across this video so long ago, and didn't watch it again for so long. Thank you.. you truly understand what it is to not only be human, but to express what everyone thinks and never says. Thank you.
Thank you Shane Koyczan, for touching so many souls with your love, passion, and inspiration. Your story has rendered me speechless. It reduced me to tears. And it's picked me up with new light and appreciation. Thank-you.
Shane Koyzcan is, and will always be a legend in my book. If it wasn't for him, I wouldn't be who I am today. I am a Poet, and he is my inspiration. He is the reason why I understand everything more clearly. He made me realize that you need to remember all of your good memories, but to also acknowledge the bad memories that made the good one's happen. This might not make sense to a lot of people, but if you understand then comment if you know what I mean. And also this poem reminds me of my grandpa...he wasn't just my grandpa...he was my dad...and he never left...he truely is the only man that will fully have my heart...R.I.P Daddy😞❤
I suffer from PTSD, triggered by darkness, making me freak out if for example the lights go off. This video and this poem help me so much. I no longer go into severe panic
When this goes from talking about people and nightmares to real life monsters that haunt you. His words just dance across the page. Wow. I have loved all of his work but this may be the most touching to me.
I cried so much during this poem and then I could help but laugh threw the tears when Shane said "...With renewed enthusiasm he looked at me and said "Nonsense these assholes have to pay"..." And the sentence after that when he said. "...he dropped to his knees and stuck his head under my bed and said "What the fuck is all of my beef jerky doing under here?"..."
Just when I thought I couldn't love this artist any more, I get hit with this on a chilly Sunday morning. I am searching for the words/lyrical form of this to share it with my Deaf friends too.
Every poem of his makes me cry
He is a phenomenal wordsmith. Phenomenal.
He has a lovely speaking voice. He makes me want to be something amazing.
aspiknf that's the best part about Shane. A string of great words may be great on their own, but the delivery is what can see them through to your heart.
You already are something amazing 💕
You're the only one I know who can blend laughter with something so powerful it'll give people goose bumps. It's poetry in motion man, I love it.
Collector I’d like to let you know it has the same affect five years later
i guess Im asking randomly but does anyone know of a method to log back into an instagram account..?

I love watching Shane Koyczan perform. He is amazing, every single time.
I love poems like this: easy to listen to, catchy, and interesting. I want to learn poetry just like Shane some day. :3
The thing is though that you can't learn to be a good poet. You have to have some have something happen. He doesn't just write these, he lived these poems.
