Allways loved and admired Sammy ! I was working in Beverley Hills on the rebuild of Pickfair / top of Summit Drive ! In May 1990 we arrived for work ...the road was closed off ! Sammy lived across the street and had died the nite before ! The street was full of press and satellite trucks ! Amazing thinking back to those days 😕 Over the next few days Limo after Limo drove up into Sammys House! He really was incredible! Had the chance to see him in Vagas in 88 with Jerry Lewis ...but opted for another show ! Really regret that 😕! Cheers 🥂
My grandmother subscribed to JET Magazine, and I absolutely remember that cover photo. I would later learn that Sammy became passionate about cooking to keep himself occupied while un-learning a long habit of life with drugs. Also, one thing that I'm a little fuzzy on: I think it was around this time that Sammy and Jerry Lewis had reconciled after not speaking for a few years.

@@sammydavisvideovault8302 It was featured on The Johnny Carson 10th anniversery LP, Johhny introduces Sammy and Sammy sings Singing IN the Rain... I was tired i have no clue why i wrote Candy Man lol
@@davidhazard512 Like everyone else I have that LP and the bootleg video missing the Sammy portion. I've even checked with a couple of broadcast museums and of they have the broadcast, it is without Sammy.
@@sammydavisvideovault8302 I love that version of the song.. I've seen almost all the clips from that LP, even the Glen Campbell Back Home In Indiana... One day will see light of Day because ALL of everything after 1973 was preserved personly by Johnny
Mr. Davis and his generation of entertainers are sorely missed today. Thanks for sharing.
I've just adored Sammy all of my life. He was quite simply the best. ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Sammy was just a marvelous human being and entertainer. He had a beautiful heart and soul.
I was very lucky to see Sammy in Vegas in 1977. Frank Sinatra's Mother had been lost in a plane crash and he filled in.
Best show I have ever seen!!!
What a show that must have been. Sammy wouldn't have wanted to let Frank or his audience down.
@@sammydavisvideovault8302 Sammy did it all, sang, he was funny, impressions, dancing, reminiscing. The best all around entertainer ever!
Sammy was the greatest entertainer to ever take the stage!
Bar none!
A Truly Gifted Man ❤❤❤🎉🎉
6:21 he' just making sure we're paying attention! 🤣🤣👏👏👏

"I cooked it. You ate it. Clean it up." I'm going to try using that line after dinner tonight.
Name me another performer who can act on both television and film, dance, do comedy, and sing. The man is the complete entertainer.
I can't think of one. Sadly, complete entertainers like Sammy are no longer. But I'll keep an eye out in case one comes along.
True, his versatility was unmatched.
Jerry Lewis.
@@johnsjohnson448 But, was Jerry known as an excellent singer like Sammy was? Jerry would sing on the telethon, but it was not his strong suit.
Sammy played multiple instruments too.
One of the greatest entertainers of all time! 🤩
Even when the pretty lady guest comes on, Sammy immediately steal back the show. He was an enigma 😊
Sammy is a Legend!
Sammy was a classy man. A rare talent.
He did the first act smoking a cigarette and he wasn't even out of breath. Sammy was the greatest!
It’s sad we don’t have Sammy and that generation around anymore. They had clean entertainment and they were just talented.

No it was Dean Martin that Jerry Lewis fell out with and then reconciles. Sammy and Jerry were continuously friends.😊😊
Brillant! In every way.
I miss Sammy so much!!
4:48 EPIC!
Back when Disney movies were relatively safe for kids to watch...
Imagine if the Rat Pack were alive today and they heard todays music...how ashamed they would be!
Sammy had a big influence on Michael Jackson. Michael literally said it in an interview when he was 12

What a voice. Better singer than Sinatra and funnier than Dean Martin. What a wonderful talent.
Better singer than Sinatra ?,um ok
When smoking while performing was "cool", 'classy'. A really great performer who could do it all.
Still looking for Sammy's appearance Circa 1973 of Candy Man... so far no luck
On Carson when Sammy was guest host? Sorry I don't have it either. I've got Merv Griffin the day it went to number 1

Boy was Disney wrong about Bill Cosby. 😭
We have NOBODY this COOL today!! All a bunch of pretenders!
All while smoking a cigarette!!!
What Disney film was he up for? Was it The Devil and Max Devlin?
Yes
Do you have any content of Sammy with Dean?
I think most of what I have is already on TH-cam by other people.
No audio. What a shame.
anyone know the year?
May, 1979
5:06 the great Eddy Shaugnassy on drums. Outstanding!
When Sammy said the song was from an album he did with Buddy Rich, I knew Ed would get a chance to shine.
@@sammydavisvideovault8302 That album, Sounds of '66, was one of his best. Just top notch from beginning to end.
@@Rob_Kates I couldn't agree more.
