The man in the photo is the composer of the song. He was also Dimash’s and the pianist’s professor/mentor/friend who died from COVID-19 in July. Dimash first performed this song (very different performance to this) on the composer’s 70th birthday when Dimash was 20. The composer wasn’t sure if Dimash could do his song justice because of his young age. Of course he did amazingly and the composer said he perfectly conveyed the emotion he wanted to convey when he composed the song. I’m sure he would also approve of this interpretation of his song, so emotional for Dimash who lost his great mentor and friend...

This was a performance at the 60th Qazaq Concert held last month. I watched alot of the 3 hour concert and it was mostly traditional Qazaq music and dancing. This was certainly the most emotionally moving. The little lights in the audience are monitors in the seats. Another performance was with an orchestra and each member was filmed and projected in individual monitors. It was pretty cool.

Thank you from a long-time Canadian Dimash Fan. Dimash first performed this song in March 2016. Dimash performed a different interpretation in 2020.
The picture in the background is the music (melody) composer, Kenes Duisekeev, a respected/distinguished citizen of Kazakhstan. He was a beloved Teacher/Mentor of Dimash, passed away in the Summer of 2020, due to the pandemic. This was very emotional for Dimash, and you feel that with his performance at this 60th Anniversary of the QazaqConcert.
The song creation history:
Approximately 25 years ago, the Kazakh poet Shomishpay Sariev wrote the lyrics of the song "Karagim-ai". He dedicated the song to his daughter, who was getting married. The father puts his feelings into the text, his worry, how the life of the daughter with her groom will be formed, what awaits her ahead. Shares with daughter about the meaning of life. The poet argues that the most important meaning of life is Love. Life lived without love is empty. The poet asks: "All life lived without love is equivalent to one day lived in love?" It is always sad to leave home and cross the threshold of of someone else’s house. That is why a bit sad moment to a daughter too. After all, the tears of the girl are not from grief, but only regret when parting with the native village, relatives.
Poet asked his friend the famous Kazakh composer Kenes Duisekeev to write music. The composer during writing the music to the song, recalls his only sister, who did not have time to get married and died at the age of 19. He dreamed what a father would have felt if she would have married.
Therefore, the song turned out not only about the poet’s daughter, who is getting married, but about the composer’s sister, who did not live to see her wedding. Therefore, the song feels sorrow, sadness of failed love.
Dimash originally sang "Karagym-ai" at a concert dedicated to the 70th Birthday anniversary of Kenes Duisekeev (Music composer) on 26th March, 2016. The composer really enjoyed the performance of Dimash and applauded with the words "Bravo !!!"

Das Lied handelt von einem Vater der seine Tochter verabschiedet, die im Begriff ist zu heiraten. Das Bild im Hintergrund ist der Mann der das Lied komponiert hat. Dimash hat dieses Lied schon einmal gesungen und sein späterer Menthor und Großfäterlicher Freund war etwas besorgt ob ein so junger Mann die Bedeutung dieses Liedes richtig erfassen und gesanglich ausdrücken könnte. Er war dann sehr angetan von Dimash Gesang.
Dieser Auftritt war in einem Konzert und Dimash sang es als Tribut für seinen an Covid verstorbenen Menthor. Natürlich drückt sich da auch der Schmerz von Dimash aus.
