Knowles is a native of Pennsylvania and he left on good terms with OKST so there was some built in hesitancy coming to OU. The deck was stacked against us, we didn't get outbid money wise, he just chose to go home.
What did OU do to deserve anything but a lump of coal for christmas? did they: 1) prepare for SEC trench play, since they’ve had 3 years to do it since 2021? 2) Make sure their strength and conditioning trainers and system wasn’t causing soft tissue injuries to all their wide receivers and others by heavy lifting with cold muscles and other messed up incompetencies? 3) Did OU hold onto their proven commodity Dillon Gabriel or did they just let him run off to Oregon because they thought mister binky-JA, who sucks on his mouthpiece hanging out of his mouth like a binky-was their new savior? 4) did OU pay 5X as much for damonic williams as Texas paid for Lole, despite both players ranking equally in PFF? Did OU make the smart decision on any of those matters, so they’d deserve xmas gifts? NOPE. A LUMP OF COAL IT IS.
You're not (speaking as another lifelong Sooner fan). In this era of NIL and portal, I doubt that we will ever recover. Not only would we not have won the FCS last year, we probably would not have made it past the quarter finals (at best)
This situation isn't really a loss, but it would have been a nice win that we could really use. But I don't know if there is anything that could happen to guarantee we're going to be back soon. We'll have to just wait and see. Pretty damn hard to believe in Venables though.
WTF! NO PONY! lol. I honestly didn't think we would get Knowles and especially when it didn't happen right after the NC. As you said there has definitely been some off season wins. But I think there's still a lot to be figured out.
I'm mystified as to why JJF is still on staff, but we did get 10 wins in '23 with him in his proper place. We've brought in enough players to make me hopeful for '25. Not ecstatic, but hopeful.
The thing that is most disturbing you have a Podcasters not you you have people with radio shows and they sold the Kool-Aid for about 30 days trying to come up with a different spin every day or they hide behind a pay wall. It is always about a source or talk to somebody in the building and most of the time it never comes to fruition Sean you sound better you look better.
Toby Rowland said last night and also from some OU insiders that Nate Dreiling who just got hired at Arkansas st as DC might be a candidate for OU DC. He was Utah state interim HC/DC last year. I heard West Goidwin might be hired as a defense analyst
We cannot get or keep players, or coaches. Even in this revolving door where "student" athletes change jerseys every 48 hours, we can't field a decent team for even 1 or 2 games. 50 years as an OU fan and I honestly don't give a rip about next year at all.
For $3.1+ million he wasn't worth it. Last year PSU paid both their OC and DC the same combined salary that Knowles will be getting this year. We're better off using that money elsewhere.
OU is not playing with House Money! 2 out of 3 losing seasons. Players hitting the Portal. Didn’t get / couldn’t land the Coaches OU wanted. Recruiting is taking a hit now that OU truly has to compete with Texas , Texas A&M, LSU and Arkie. OU will not get double digit Wins next season. OU is cooked!
OU plays best when slighted or playing with a chip on our shoulder. Our defense will be solid. If the Offense can compliment then we will be a tough team. But, so much must go our way to have any shot at 9-3 or 10-2 at the very best.
@@user-ce3fr2xg3b Yes you are right. A bv defence always has wide open recievers running wild in the secondary with a safety or cb running 5 to 10 yards behind. His defence has always been that way even when he was sharing duty with mike stoops. took forever to git rid of him.
@@albertsena4365…uhhh, pretty sure that when Mike Stoops and BV shared the DC roll, it was Mike Stoops running the secondary and BV in charge of the front seven.
Joe John is still on staff because BV was clearly satisfied with how he’s been recruiting and how his tight ends have developed. We’re screwed
Knowles is a native of Pennsylvania and he left on good terms with OKST so there was some built in hesitancy coming to OU.

Again.... Penn State is known for only one thing, and it is disgusting!
What did OU do to deserve anything but a lump of coal for christmas?

Don't forget (the best OC ever) Seth littlrel or however you spell his name
Not surprised. What established dc wants a job where the hc is standing over his shoulder?
( Incredulous Jim Mora voice),”Playoffs?Playoffs???”
Unfortunately as a lifelong fan I just don't see much changes of the Sooners Fortune's in the near future,I hope I'm wrong. Boomer Sooner.
I concur. It's the same schedule as last season just the home and aways are switched plus Michigan is now one of the non conference games
You're not (speaking as another lifelong Sooner fan). In this era of NIL and portal, I doubt that we will ever recover. Not only would we not have won the FCS last year, we probably would not have made it past the quarter finals (at best)
Glad you're doing well onikuno
Man…BV could hire Nick Saban to run the defense and a lot of these insufferable fans still wouldn’t be happy.

I suggest completely forgetting about oklahoma football and just get ready for softball
He was never coming. Modern OU fans (and podcasters who are nothing more than fanboys) remind me of Linus telling everyone about the Great Pumpkin.
WTF! NO PONY! lol. I honestly didn't think we would get Knowles and especially when it didn't happen right after the NC. As you said there has definitely been some off season wins. But I think there's still a lot to be figured out.
I believe some of the WR's will surprise.
Who cares? Softball starts on Feb 6. Football at OU (and the entire FBS) is dead!
Apparently you do, you commented
@@steeleboy09 Only to remind everyone that OU's true championship caliber team starts up again on Feb 6
Go get kc chiefs Def coach lol
Brilliant idea! 😜
Why don't we just switch BV out for Andy Reid AND Spagnola! 😂
That would be something... wouldn't it 😂
😆😆😆
I think we'll know by mid October if this Venables experiment is a fail or not.
Some of us already know.

Most of the OU podcasters are like MSNBC and the rest when they were pumping up Kamala Harris. 🤡
That was what close looks like.
I don't know why OU don't offer him more money over the other schools if OU really want to get.
Oklahoma Cornhuskers
Ouch!!
More like Oklahoma Owls (Rice, Temple; take your pick)

To go from nearly landing Knowles to a guy that had the fifth worst defense in the NCAA should be a fireable offense.
I feel you brother

Well, you know Brent Venables is on a year by year contract.
I love BV, but I'm sure they're already interviewing his replacement for 2026
D was not what we needed
Another great job of vocabullary.

Disappointed about the pony....damn it!
BV can be his own DC.
to bad he sucks as a head coach
BV SHOULD be the DC and ONLY the DC. We need a head coach
Look. Are defense be sold be good again. OU. Offense. Is. A ?
Huh?? Do you need a translator because what you said makes no sense.
OU plays best when slighted or playing with a chip on our shoulder. Our defense will be solid. If the Offense can compliment then we will be a tough team. But, so much must go our way to have any shot at 9-3 or 10-2 at the very best.
Kinda sounds like the exact same story I've heard for 3 years

I don't think Knowles is as good or better than Brent so ou let's go and win some games
You deserve time off Sean
All I’m saying is if Brent Venables doesn’t get 9 wins this season he needs to be fired and we need to go get Josh Heupel or someone else
