I got to hear one on the weekend, (Airshow Toronto, Sept 2022) they are LOUD, a F-18 makes a bunch of noise, this is deafening for a long time and for a wide radius. I watched one wade across the city at 40Km/ph and at a 70deg angle from my living room. Too Loud.
What the fuck you know about it??? HORSESHIT. Great Engine Horrible Reliability. (GEHR) The reliability requirements simply are not being met by 2 orders of magnitude (it's called "time on wing" and "maintenance events per operational hour," and "dispatch rate") ALL failing.
The engine that took years to develop, spent a wad of money with GE to keep Pratt honest, and now after a thousand engines, they (DOD) want to replace it. They may have the sales, but I am not sure what they are celebrating. It's like a low rated TV show celebrating 100 episodes.
That looks like a might expensive mock-up demonstrator engine; I like it. Are the moving parts holographic projections?
