    Former Everton defender Slaven Bilić joined Sky Sports News to discuss whether the Toffees can survive relegation after losing last night to Burnley.
    Sean Dyche revealed he told his players that Everton "don't know how to win" as they plotted their comeback to inflict a seventh defeat in 10 games on the Toffees.
    Burnley trailed 2-1 at the break courtesy of a pair of Richarlison penalties and Dyche's dressing-room message to his players was clear - to take advantage of the visitors' leaky defence and low confidence after a punishing run of away form.

    Superb analysis from Bilic. No quick answers to Everton's woes. They've overspent, brought in good talent, invested in new grounds, and changed managers like socks, but they're still facing relegation. Spending money isn't the answer, changing managers isn't the answer, getting new players isn't the answer. It's a sorry situation.

    • @timdurgan
      @timdurgan 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      They've not brought in good players. Only Richarlison and DCL are any good. Iwobi (for 35m), Klaasen, Townsend, Alli, Rondon, El Ghazi, Keane, Tosun, Bolasie, Schneiderlin, Valencia, Sigurdsson, Vlasic, Sandro, Walcott, Kean, Rodriguez.
      These players were either on the way out and clearly not up to standard at their clubs (Walcott, Iwobi, Scheiderlin, Alli) or they were obviously not good enough to start with (Tosun, Valencia, Rondon, Klaasen).
      There are some good signings in there, as Bilic says, but if you sign one good player for every 4 that aren't up to scratch, you're not going to get the best from those players and you'll end up with a worse squad (that you spent loads on and can't move on).
      Even when they had a glimmer of hope with the likes of Ancelotti and Rodriguez, that flame died quickly. Club is dying from the top.

      You could possibly be right about the Porto manager, but it's Everton who don't know how to keep a clean sheet, only 2 all season and 1 was under frank. If Everton go down it will be terrible for the club with a new ground under way but what most of these players don't realize is, most of them will never play in the premier league again, most are that bad they'll not be wanted by any other club at all.

      It was not a mistake, Frank is a fantastic manager. He just came in at the wrong time. He did the same at Chelsea, he took the job way too early knowing very well that he isn't that experienced of a manager. I hope they can survive the relegation.

    • @TheNormalJuan
      @TheNormalJuan 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I agree, they only signed him for his status as a PL legend. I can understand they hoped that having him around would motivate the players to perform better, and that he would give them a good example of hard work and winning mentality. But they failed to realize that as a player he had never been in a relegation battle or a big escape situation, so he doesn't know how to motivate players that are going through that. Winning mentality is one thing, but surviving is another and it comes with a lot more pressure. He was not prepared for any of that.

    *1)* Everton have an excellent squad. Brazil's striker plays for them, who scored three goals fro Brazil within the past month.
    *2)* They have just under a quarter of the season left to play.
    *3)* The problem is that no one can see them winning a game.
    *4)* Look at the stats. The pass accuracy is appalling. That shows a lack of confidence.
    *5)* Lampard plays a back line far to high meaning they are susceptible to counter-attacking. His defenders are not fast so cannot keep up with breaking opposition strikers. He has to play a defensive game relying on the skills of his stokers to occasionally poach goal.
    *7)* Man have lost only two games in the past 11. They are a strong team.

Bad finances, terrible leadership, no standards at any level of the club and absolutely abysmal recruitment have led to this collapse. Benitez and Lampard are just bearing the brunt of it.
