NOTE: remember to check the channel assignments for modes and arming as you may have different channels on a DJI FPV controller. Whenever you change the radio, you need to rerun the radio calibration again. Happy flying!
Following this series with interest, Lee. So I am assuming you are going to be using the black original DJI FPV controller since you connected your Vista to the SBus input on the FC? Did you have to root your goggles and install wtfos to enable the MSP OSD support? If I read the Ardupilot page correctly, it appears that some key OSD items (like flight modes) won't be visible unless you do root the goggles. Looking forward to future videos and thanks.
I did this exact same setup with the same fc and cadxx vista with the integra goggles ,I cannot get the OSD working for the life of me... It shows craft battery voltage in the goggles on the bottom right but nothing else will show up..... I used this exact VTX on a different build with the Integra goggles running inav and the OSD works fine.... No rooting or anything like that necessary with the Integra goggles..... I followed this video step-by-step no dice.... Anybody got any pointers.??
I used the full size akk ultimate 1200mw. With a little trimming I tucked it between the rails under the battery tray. The heat sink exposed under the plane for cooling.
I did my Vista mostly the same way, but it's more of a press fit without the wood on the bottom of the bay. Think I'm going to go back and add that along with the zip tie. Much more secure and I also trim away a little bit of foam for more airflow. Great tip!
I also considered installing the Vista that way because it is the easiest and most convenient way, but the problem then is: how does one mount a Go2 or Caddx Peanut then on the front? I think some kind of 3D printed cradle that arches over the front of the Vista and with spikes that go into the foam will probably be a way of doing it for those who have 3D printers. I wouldn't tie-wrap it to the Vista though, because in the event of a hard landing or crash it could pull the Vista out an rip off the wires. I also installed a mini switch for the Vista. I suggest doing that to prevent it from heating up while waiting for satellites or configuring something. Also, in my case, the camera didn't fit snugly into the nose, so what I did was cleanly cut the whole front section out from the bottom so that I could cut the camera hole to size and then glued it back in.
Dear Sir, thanks a lot for the sharing. It’s so great! Beside DJI video transmitter, is it support other brand like HDzero or walksnail? Looking for your help. Thank you.
I just finished building and flying mine for the first time. This is my second, first was the conversion and followed your video. On the pnp my throttle is not linear at all, in a river it basically goes full throttle or minimal throttle. What did you do to calibrate the esc? Or did I miss a step?
Nice one! I haven’t seen any other videos showing how to use vista/matek f405vtol! Obviously this is in ardupilot could you please consider doing an inav-7 vtol with the exact same hardware?! Is it possible to use the same hardware setup & Which radio transmitter did you use, I want to use a dji v1 radio (black).
Great content Lee, I aways follow your video's. I have all the parts needed. But I would like to use Walksnail, I would still use the TX & RX4, would I still use the same Ardu commands as you have in this video even thou they are for the DJI units??? I also see there are 2 addtional wires that go to SBUS on DJI but not on the Walksnail. Will I still get the OSD in my goggles? I see your last post about uploading a FC file. I have used BF before, but never Ardu pilot I too would be interested in the same file. I am going to give it a shot on my own, but would still like to have a guaranteed working file. Keep up the great work.
Hello, this might be a bit of a silly question and not strictly related to this video series but I am trying to find a glue for foam that is actually available to buy. Uhu Por and Beacon Foam-Tac appear to be unavailable anywhere I look. I have a nice AR Wing Pro that I like to build and I am only missing the glue ! Is there are general rule of what type of chemistry a good foam glue is made of or a non trade-mark general name for such glue ? Kind regards, Jan P.
I decided to completely repeat your build. Can't publish the flight controller settings file? For an easier start))) I have no experience setting up planes
You can setup a Crossfire receiver to output SBUS or CRSF. Most would use CRSF as then you also get the telemetry back using the same UART.. See my Crossfile series.. Happy flying!

Fantastic tutorial, Lee! Thanks! 😃
Stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊
I've ordered a vTol T1, cant wait for your full flight vid !!, :)

I have to learn fixed wing before I can tackle VTOL. Keep up the good work Lee
looking forward to first flight vid, mine went very good as it was built learning a lot from you.

Thanks for sharing how you did it. It's a VTOL so not expecting hard landings.. ;) Happy flying!

Yes it will...

I am, Patreons are getting updates at the moment.. Happy flying

I've not yet setup Walksnail with Ardupilot. Let me know how you get on... Best of luck
Is it possible to program additional functions of the remote control toggle switches? For example autorim, autotune?
Yes, check out the rest of the playlist... happy flying

UHU POR is on Amazon here in the UK...

I will after the next video as one thing as I'm not happy with the setup published by others... stay tuned
I can wire the power and ground from the vista to vbat and ground on the fc right ?
I use a JST lead to power it. It allows you to power up the HD system only when you get ready to launch. See my HD builds..
anything new on developing your settinings?
Work in progress with fixss to the Ardupilot code.. See update in the community tab. Stay tuned
@@Painless360 thanks!
Lee does anybody who is using crossfire need to attach sbus pins ?
