I had this condition for the first 4 months of this year. It happened just out of the blue and I lost almost 14 pounds. After tests eliminated cancer I researched myself and thought it was microscopic colitis which I had. I avoid taking medication so tried the natural route and succeeded. I increased vitamin D intake and started taking vitamin B12. I started eating more meat which some experts feel is essential for good gut health. I would have scrambled eggs for breakfast without any bread and drank hot water with lemon. After 3 hours I would eat a piece of fruit again with hot water and lemon. After 3 hours I would have home made carrot soup again with hot water and lemon. After 3 hours I would have a carrot with peanut butter and after 3 hours I would have meat with salad and or vegetables. As each day passed, things improved so I was able to incorporate more food, but always wholesome and never rubbish. Sugar is the worst thing you can eat. Eventually I could eat an almost normal diet. Last week I had one bout on one day, so started again on the stringent diet for a couple of days and so far so good. The biopsy did eventually show that it was indeed microscopic colitis which I had. I hope this long story helps some of you who are suffering because it takes over your life.
which type did you have? There are two kinds.
Took dr recommend budesonide.. for 3 mos after tapered off came right back now I take boswellia serrata by tribe organics on Amazon colitis gone 2 pills in am

Hi, thankyou for the information. My microscopic colitis took 2 years to diagnose, during which time I was severely ill and towards the worst stopped eating. No rest night or day. Presently just getting over a flare two months after the last time. The Budesonide seems to work for me but my food is pretty restricted as I eat little carbs,sugars or dairy and eat mainly protein dense foods. I have however regained some muscle and weight so that’s a bonus.
I was recently diagnosed w microscopic colitis after five weeks of uncontrollable diarrhea. One morning I passed out, and fractured my humerus. I spent 6 days in the hospital before they put 2+2 together and decided it was the Zoloft causing my illness. I was taking it for PTSD after a critical illness and a lengthy hospital stay when I nearly died. I weaned off Zoloft, and now taking meds to heal my gut. Hopefully, my arm will heal, too. What an ordeal!

I have had MRIs, CAT scans, bloodwork, stool, samples, and everything comes up negative. I’ve had watery, chronic non-bloody diarrhea for a long time especially at night that is not controllable. I’m a 64-year-old woman and I believe I may have this as the doctor has discussed. Thank you so much for the information.
Took many years of suffering , I too quit eating much. Thru the VA I was sent to a new wonderful GI Dr. He found my microscopic collagenous colitis . I am a new person. A new life!!!

Budesonide ! Weaning off of it after about two years now! No problems yet!!

Thank you Dr. Rogers for bringing up this important topic. Yes, patients need to put those pathologists to work and have the pathologists look at biopsies under the microscope! I was diagnosed with acute severe ulcerative colitis earlier this year. After two hospitalizations and finally receiving remicade, I started to heal. Two months after receiving remicade, I went from skin and bones to my normal weight and strength. - I also feel that homemade kefir from raw unpasteurized whole milk played a large role in my healing. did you get a bunch of neuro symptoms also?
@@cathrynp3491 I haven't experienced any side effects. My gastroenterologist wants to keep me on remicade for at least another year because I almost lost my colon last March. And now that I'm doing so well, he doesn't want to change anything. -And I agree.
@@markmcla please telle me if you healed and if you stoped thé draugs I mean if you healed totaly from this desease
@@user-jx1eb6qb9z I recently suffered from another flare, but steroids and mesalomine enemas put me back in remission, and I'm feeling healthy again. My gastroenterologist said that sometimes Remicade doesn't always get to the rectum/end of the colon. If I flare again, I want to try mesalomine enemas and hyperbaric oxygen treatments. I would like to avoid steroids in the future. We'll see!

I went 10 years with this. (3) good gastro doctors and could not stop the symptoms, until I had a biopsy during a colonoscopy. Changed to budesonide and had immediate relief after 8 weeks. Within a week I relapsed and started an additional 8 week treatment. This worked again and mildly relapsed. Following this I continued with 3mg dose and so far it has not come back.
I just watched a presentation by a specialist in Canada who said for some folks a long-term small dose is required.
My mom was just diagnosed with thid last year. It was difficult to diagnose, but her docs didn't give up trying to find the cause

Dr. Rogers, I just watch your video. I’m like the lady you described. I’m a researcher. I began having persistent diarrhea on 9/13/23. Today is 10/15/23 and it continues. I’m 77 yr old female in good health prior to this. Dr. tested for the usual suspects ecoli, listeria, even Cdif because I had recently completed 10 day round of amoxicillin post root canal. I have been on meloxicam for years for arthritis and was on omeprozole for years due to the meloxicam. Had a history in the past of bleeding ulcers. All bloodwork and stool tests were negative. I learned I was “overdosing” for 3 weeks on Gundry’s Bio3 Complete pre pro and post biotic supplement on Sept 23 due to a formula change which I was unaware of. It went from 2 capsules twice a day to 1 cap twice a day because they managed to put the equivalent of 2 caps onto one according to their claims. It contained fiber. So I double dosed for 3 wks of a very strong supplement. My doctor thinks it possibly caused my GI problems since everything else is negative. I had up to 8-10 episodes (usually starting between 3:30 and 5:30am) every night/morning until I started taking Lomotil 18 days into my problem and then it was 4-5 episodes during that time. I have lost 5-6 lbs in these 4 weeks. Figured out that I have to stay away from fiber or I’m miserable. Have follow up with doc in a week. Probably will refer me to gastroenterologist. My research brought me to microscopic colitis and your video. Would appreciate your thoughts on the probiotic supplement overdosing as a possible cause of my problem. I’ve never had any issues like this prior to 9/13/23. TY!
Your issue with the probiotic may be related to a mast-cell problem, mainly too much histamine in your gut. Probiotics can be high in histamine which is inflammatory to the gut. If one lacks diamine oxidase in the gut to break down the histamine & eliminate the inflammation, diarrhea may result.
@@GutInstinct-se9dw Thank you for that information. I’m going to look into it further. Will finally be seeing a gastroenterologist in the next few days. My issues continue on 11/1/23.
Have you had patients that were treated Endocort with success stories ?
Any natural supplements that can treat microscopic colitis like Boswellia serrata ?
I take Boswelia with turmeric daily for neuralgia which it helps a lot. But no effect on the m colitis
I'm 37, and I had a colonoscopy. Luckily, the doctor took biopsies because he found microscopic colitis. He's treating me with Endocort. I don't know if that is the only problem.
I’ve been on endocort several times, unfortunately relapsed every time. Now I’ve relapsed while taking it. Having a capsule endoscopy now.
You're fortunate the diagnosis was made because it is rare to find it. Entocort is the treatment of choice in my opinion along with a non inflammatory autoimmune type diet. Be patient it may take a while.

Yes...but it doesnt work....I take Budesonide since 3 years and I relapse as soon as I stop...I would prefer dying but I don't know how to do it. Life is awfull....

@@agnes3682I feel for you! I was diagnosed almost 8 yrs ago with the lymphocytic type. 2 things that seem to cause a flare up for me is consistent use of ibuprofen and the other is whole milk. If you try removing these or other possible offenders you may see some relief. I have other foods I avoid, but these 2 items seem the worst. You'll be in my prayers ❤
Can you have this and have constipation ? I’ve had a clear colonoscopy a few months ago but I’ve presented with rectal bleeding
I believe I have read that you can indeed have MC and experience constipation.

I was on the 3 mos then switched to boswellia serrata by tribe organics on Amazon it’s a natural anti inflammatory played around with dosage then weaned off it
