A few years back I had found Ryan O'Neal on Facebook. I had an original movie poster for The Driver, a movie Ryan did in 1978. I asked him how much he would want to sign it. He said just send it to him and he'd sign it for free. He even gave me his address to his home on Malibu Beach. He wrote...To Adam, look both ways. Much love, Ryan O'Neal.

I literally just watched "Chances Are" last night, a wonderful RomCom in which Ryan played such a wonderful role. And today I am hearing he's died. 😲 Weird how the Universe works.
RIP Ryan!! I want a man to love me the way you loved Corinne!!

I still remember sitting in the movie theater and sobbing - along with a lot of other teenage girls in the audience. Love Story something about the music, film locations, and cast that were timeless.
Condolences to Ryan’s family, especially Tatum and Redmond….. He was a very good actor and will be missed.

Me too...my friends and I were 13/14 and sat among grown men and women weeping at the tragic love story between his Oliver and his Jenny. The years have flown by much, much too quickly. So very sad that his passing is another glowing reminder of our own mortality. May he now be reunited with his other "tragic" love, Farrah. Both were true icons from another, incomparable era of Hollywood talent.

Curious to know if, after seeing the film, you bought the paperback copy of the book and the soundtrack album. We were so obsessed with both, and we must have played that album a hundred times, reliving that movie, much like we did years earlier, when we couldn't get enough of the theme song from Romeo and Juliet, with our pre-teen "crush" Len Whiting. Both movies are timeless.

There’s all this negativity online how he was a narcissist an abuser, and how he beat his kids all of this and how he played around on Farrah Fawcett with a much younger woman and is very sad, but is there anything out there that talks about Ryan as an abuse victim? Everybody keeps saying that he was an abuser, but is it possible that anyone abused him? Is there anyone that used him for his money or made him into a sex object? Is there anyone who abused him psychologically and physically? It does seem as though narcissism could be a result of child abuse. It could be genetic but it could be that some thing happened to him and he’s been struggling his whole life with torment but we don’t know because their kids seem to talk about the fact that they were victims but perhaps he was that doesn’t mean that there should be an excuse, but perhaps he has some kind of psychological problem due to being abused himself what do you think because there’s so much dirt on the sky to make him look like it’s a real monster, but maybe he never knew unconditional love himself, and that he was being abused for many many years, but everybody around him as well . What do you think? Was he born a narcissist?
