Vivek, Thanks for sharing your knowledge with all of us. If you make an index unusable or invisible then that index will not be used in explain plan. But invisible index will be keep updated by oracle server on applicable statements like INSERT,UPDATE,DELETE. I have one question on this. Can you please explain the same by using trace on select statement?

Thanks for making this video, I have a small doubt regarding difference between INDEX UNUSABLE and INDEX DISABLE. as per my understanding DISABLE INDEX can be applied on FUNCTION BASED INDEX, and it can be later REBUILT/ENABLED. Is my understanding correct or is there any other differences?
Thank you for this video. It's really helpful. Could you please provide me with the link for different types of indexes( details like bit map, domain, partitioned etc) since this video doesn't cover that part

lets suppose index is invisible and we edit some data in saved data-row. will this edit won't change address of that row? if it changes the address then how can we reuse invisible index as we have older value ? Someone Plz reply
Invisible index is maintained in the background for every single data change, so as soon as we make it visible it will be used in the query plans again( only if it adds value) I hope it helps, Saransh, please reach out to me if any clarification are required
@@TechCoach the thing is ... When our databade gets updated then if we make index visible.. will it not cost almost equal to rebuild the index. Because we don't know which reference got changed and we have to verify at all node/key of index .

In Unusable index if actual index is dropped from physical memory then what we are rebuilding? Or it's just index for new data will be dropped?
Topic well explained , great going Vivek!!
what do u mean by index clean up? how does drop index differ from making it UNUSED
Setting index unused does not drop the index data but drop index does, you have to use alter table drop unused columns to clean up disk
