    Mingi in Blind: "Shake it, Malibu (que bonitaaaa), ferociously bibbidi-bobbidi-boo, I don't care front or back, good motion, secrets are being created. What was hot turns cold again, that's for sure, if you pull it, you eat it again like a bombón. Loca. Come closer, I know you want to"

    First of all, not trying to stir any drama or spread negativity because I just love Chloe. I just genuinely want to know atinys' thoughts on the line distribution of blind. I know that there's always gonna be a member who gets the least lines in a song and that's a fact. Also, the line distribution may vary according to how well the tone of a member goes with the genre. If all the members have 20-25 seconds and one member gets like 12-15 seconds then that's still understandable. But if all the members have about 15-20 seconds of lines and only one member gets LESS THAN 3 SECONDS then that line distribution is kinda concerning to me given that the member in question is the one who has the most number of songs in which he is the last place in line distribution. You all must know by now who I am talking about. It's Yeosang. Also, I wouldn't have been so pressed about it if his voice didn't go well with the song but his voice just suits this song so much. They literally made their other vocalist sing in their deeper tone instead of just making the member who naturally has the deepest tone in the group to sing those parts. I really wanna know if other atinys even noticed this and if they did what are their thoughts on this? The fact that this could've been their title track really scares me.

    • @ChloeMayReacts
      @ChloeMayReacts  27 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      Yeah no I get where you're coming from , I saw atiny's tweets about yeosang , and it is sad to see as I think it all should be fair between all 8 as I think they are all so talented, I never stop praising all 8 because I genuinely mean it. And you will notice i spoke alot about yeosang in this album. The stage videos I reacted to over on patreon. But I also feel like it's a hard situation as we don't know why yeosang didn't get many lines and people do love to speculate and cause drama and then it blows up into something thats completely unnecessary and can also be a lie , if you get me? But In this situation with blind I'm not saying it is a lie. It is very odd that he has a few seconds but I'm not really sure what can be done about it either :(( but I agree very much that yeosang suits this song alot

    • @nenegrey2282
      @nenegrey2282 26 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      I definitely noticed Yeosang is under used (it's impossible not to). Maybe it's because of his lisp? Even the editors of their videos tease him about it :( Maybe he doesn't feel confident because of that? Having a lisp influences the way/how much you talk, even in sentences where there are no challenging sounds (I'm very similar to Yeosang in that, and my lisp is not as pronounced as his, it only comes out some times but it still influences how I talk, so I can imagine it's extra difficult for him).
      For a long time he's also had the most floor work and most dancing time (even solos like in This World) in live performances out of all of them, so maybe his focus has been mostly dancing?
      He also used to be very self-conscious, for example it took him a long time to stop covering his birth mark and stop cringing away from attention at concerts (like at times he used to look almost uncomfortable/overwhelmed when he was on the big screen and Atiny cheered for him).
      And now that he IS more confident, the producers simply don't know what to do with his voice because they're not used to working with it.
      Yeosang's tone is very distinctive, like Mingi's and Hongjoong's, so maybe the producers don't know how to mix it in with the others without it being "distracting". Mingi and Hongjoong are rappers so it's excused in their case, because most of the time their verses change the vibe of the song anyways, but maybe from a vocalist they expect him to blend with the others more. In Work there is a part that's Yeosang - Yunho - Seonghwa in quick succession, but Yunho and Seonghwa have to use their deeper register to mix with Yeosang, when they usually sing higher. Alternatively, they can use his voice to create contrast like the Yunho - Yeosang bit at the start of Turbulence, or the Yeosang - Jongho parts in Dune. But maybe they don't want to overuse that formula and pigeonhole Yeosang into one role? They've already done that with Jongho and people have complained about how he's only used for high notes, so maybe they want to avoid doing that with the others? Maybe that's why San and Yunho have started using their lower register and Seonghwa has started rapping more. They're trying to diversify.
      KQ was on their knees to get Yeosang when he left BigHit, so there must be a deeper reason for why he's so under used. I'm not saying it's 100% Yeosang's doing, because he's an idol and I can't imagine him not wanting more parts to sing. It's probably a mix of factors. I think that if Yeosang asked, Hongjoong would bend over backwards to make it happen. But we all know Yeosang rarely asks for anything, he just goes with whatever the others decide most of the time. And I don't think Hongjoong would confront the producers (out of respect as they're older and more expert than him) without imput from him :(

      @@ChloeMayReacts Chloe, my comment was not at all directed towards you. I know you love and appreciate all the members. The purpose for this comment was to inform unaware atinys about this issue and get the opinion of atinys who are familiar with this issue. I think that the fandom always avoids talking about this(idk why?). I just want there to be more awareness about this in the fandom. Not talking about it only encourages misconceptions and misinformation like X member can't sing that is why he doesn't get lines or Y member himself said that he didn't want lines. These are all misinformation that are really prevalent in the fandom and people who know the truth don't want to talk about it. I feel bad for stressing you because of this but you are actually one of the very few reactors who had the guts to speak up and talk about it(the only one who replied to me yet). I actually commented this under a lot of reaction videos but got reply from none because they think that if they speak on this matter, fans are gonna get mad at them. I am actually really thankful to you for even replying. Everytime I comment about this, I have only received mean replies instead of genuine opinions even though I try to be as respectful as I can. I really hope you don't get any hate for this and you are able to talk about this in your videos because atinys who have a platform to communicate with a lot of other atinys can bring so much awareness and change. If anyone wants to know about it more, I am always willing to help them. It just breaks my heart that a lot fans know about his mistreatment but choose to not talk about it and then there are other atinys who are either misinformed or unaware about this issue completely thanks to the ones who don't talk about it. They just released their dingo killing voice video and Yeosang doesn't even have 1.5 minutes of lines in the almost 27 minutes video. That how bad the line distribution is for him throughout their discography. I am sorry for such a long and emotional rant but I just couldn't control myself and cried while writing this comment. I really hope the best for you. I'll always support you. 😊

      @TS-wr4sq 26 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@nenegrey2282 First of all, thank you for replying. Also, thank you for atleast accepting the fact the he is indeed really underutilized or underappreciated.
      Now, as to what the could be behind these
      1) If it's because of his lisp then that is discrimination and unfair too. The company knew about his lisp since the beginning, the still competed with other 5 companies to cast him, their cast manager was willing to kneel in front of him to get him to join their company all the while knowing about his lisp. Now, that they have him in the group they can't deny him his equal opportunities that he deserves just because he has a lisp. Also, when he selected as the MC for The Show, he used practice speaking whit chopsticks in his mouth in order to better his speaking skills. So he has working hard in that regard too.
      2) He gets the floorwork choreographies because he is good at it since debut. He had that spining and landing on his hands move in Pirate King right before hongjoong's rap. And the one he does in inception was actually choreographed by him that is why he had that part. As for This World, he had that dance because 1) he was the one singing that part, 2) other than those highly autotuned parts where he had to just read the words(literally no singing required at all), he only has one line in that entire song dt they couldn't just give his part of song to someone else to dance. According to the updated official positions, Ateez has 4 main dancers- yunho, San, mingi and wooyoung. Yeosang's position is performer. So, he isn't even a part of their dance line. Which is why he doesn't get any opening dance parts in award ceremonies or dance covers. His main focus or role in the group is not dancing.
      3) Now this is one of the reasons why I want atinys to talk about these issues more. The thing about him being underconfident/shy/self-conscious are all just misinformation that has been spreading within the fandom for a long time. If we are talking about his personality then he definitely a very shy and reserved person and there have also been times where he talked about being self conscious. But all this has nothing to do with his work. He never lets his shy nature affect work. Since 2019, Yeosang has openly stated that he wants more lines in their songs(especially title tracks). He always chooses his favorite song out of their albums on the basis of how many lines he has. And I am not making this up. If you want I can provide you the sources of these. I will quote him from one of his fancalls, he said " This is so stupid but my favorite song from the album is sector 1 because I do the intro and I have a lot of parts". Even for their latest comeback he chose empty box as his favorite song and he has the most lines in empty box compared to the other songs on the album. Yeosang is someone who went against his parents to chase his dream of being an idol. I don't know if you know about his pre debut struggles but he actually struggled a lot and worked really hard to become an idol. I can go into the details but then the comment will get too long but if are interested in knowing more about it, feel free to ask me. I will more than pleased to help people know him more. But, my point is that being an idol and performing on stage has been a dream of his and he really worked hard for it. He loves and enjoys performing a lot. So, he himself asking for more lines and opportunities for years just breaks my heart. People claim that he himself didn't want lines but when you ask them for proof as where he said it, they won't have any proof. Because he has never actually said that. Some people say that if he had any problem with the line distribution, he would've talked about it but he has been talking about it for years now. Seems like no one even wants to listen to him. Some people say that he doesn't even know about this 'mistreatment' and he doesn't care either. But the saddest part is that he is aware of his lack of lines and screen time. During one of the fan calls a fan said that they are a new fan and so they are going to watch kingdom (the show) just for Yeosang to get to know him better and he replied " You won't be able to find me in that show because I don't have a lot of parts and screen time". Hearing this from him really made me cry. People think that it doesn't effect him or he is happy with the group and I agree to some extent. He is really happy and proud to be a part of ateez but this mistreatment has actually affected him a lot. Because he didn't used to get a lot of parts in their songs, he started thinking that he isn't good enough. His confidence and self esteem were really affected by this treatment. He even talks about it. He once said " I work really hard but I feel like my hardwork isn't being rewarded ". Because even after working so hard on his vocals as well as his dancing for years, he still isn't given fair lines and that really is affecting him. One more incident that really shows mistreatment actually affected him is- once he revealed that the first hmtime he ever got a compliment from their producer was 4 years after debut and yet the compliment was " Now you've got something " as in some talent. Imagine getting treated unfairly in your work environment in comparison to your colleagues for no reason at all for years and even after asking for better treatment, there is literally no change. Anyone's confidence would fall and they will start doubting their abilities which in turn is actually gonna affect their abilities for the worse. I hope this helped you clear some of the misconceptions and know about him and this issue more. If you want to ask anything related to this or him, please do. Also, if you the source or proof of any of the things that I stated then I can provide you. Thank you for your time and for reading such a long comment.

      @@TS-wr4sq I only just got the notification, sorry >.<
      I never meant to imply that the producers are discriminating against Yeosang because of his lisp. I think Yeosang was probably the one insecure because of it, at least in the beginning. As someone with a speech impediment that isn't even as severe as Yeosang's, I totally get how insecure it can make a person.
      And now that he IS more confident, the producers simply don't know what to do with his voice because they're not used to working with it, and have other vocalists that can sing in a deep tone.
      Also, Seonghwa said that in order to decide the line distribution, every vocalist sings the entire song, then the producers choose which lines to keep from which vocalist. So Yeosang and Wooyoung are given the whole song to sing, they are given the chance to shine and prove themselves. But then in production whoever fits the song better ends up having more lines in the final product.
      I don't think the producers "made" the other vocalists sing in a lower tone for this album.
      If anything, I feel like in the past Seonghwa and Yunho were actually FORCED to use a higher register and falsetto all the time 🥴 Seonghwa even auditioned as a rapper but was made to debut as a vocalist, and was left almost in tears while recording in the studio when he couldn't nail the high notes the producers wanted. Both him and Yunho were very much put into a box and it took them ages to be allowed to do something different. Now they're finally more free to sing how they want, and use a deeper register depending on what the song needs.
      It's not a conspiracy against Yeosang, it's simply them doing their job. Just like Mingi changes his tone and flow on every track, Seonghwa and Yunho are finally allowed to do the same and even rap.
      As for San, in the beginning he sang so high all the time that sometimes his vocal cords would bleed, so he had to improve his technique and start using a lower register. And now he's started going even lower because vocalists naturally change and evolve? It's normal for them to explore new sounds and try to improve their range. It's not a bad thing, and it's not done to sideline Yeosang. It's done because that's what their music needs.
      Yeosang is just not as strong a vocalist as Yunho, San and Seonghwa are (and of course Jongho is untouchable). Seonghwa in particular is an incredible all-rounder imo and VERY underrated for some reason. It took him AGES to have more lines in songs. I've recently watched a video where he does karaoke with Hongjoong and I was left speechless. And on Killing Voice he almost stole the show imho, he was incredible.
      I think Yeosang is on the same level as Wooyoung and Hongjoong (though Hongjoong can pull some incredible notes when he wants to, he just rarely does so).
      In their Treasure era pretty much only Jongho and San had the vocal strength to really carry a chorus, and that's why back then the rap line was so prominent. The others were still finding their voices, so the two rappers and two best vocalists carried the group.
      Jongho and San have achieved their status as main and lead vocalists fair and square.
      And now Seonghwa and Yunho have stepped up too and are finally showing their true potential. It's actually criminal how underrated they've been for so long.
      I'm a relatively new Atiny and while asking around I've seen many people divide Ateez into vocal line and sub-vocal line. Jongho, San, Seonghwa and Yunho are part of the vocal line. Meanwhile Yeosang, Wooyoung and Hongjoong are sub-vocalists. Despite having a very nice singing voice and singing on several tracks, Mingi isn't even considered a sub-vocalist.
      Some people say these were their official descriptions at debut? I definitely remember seeing sub-vocalist in Hongjoong's profile, but I don't remember the others.
      I don't know if that's entirely accurate or if it has changed through the years, but I wouldn't be surprised if it hasn't. Jongho is a powerhouse, San, Seonghwa and Yunho have incredible range. Wooyoung and Yeosang are really good, but I don't think they could be lead vocalists at the moment, they need to improve their range, like everyone else is doing.
      As you mentioned, Yeosang is also a rapper now, and that's probably because he too tried to diversify. He can't get on the same level as the vocalists (yet), so he tried something completely new and different for him. And that's a good thing. But in a group with two amazing main rappers and a sub-rapper since debut now turned into an official rapper (Seonghwa), that's still not enough to get more lines.
      The line distribution reflects all of this.
      It might seem unfair at first glance (and in fact as I said before it's impossible not to notice the lack of Yeosang - and Wooyoung - lines), but if you look into it, it starts making more sense.
      Yeosang and Wooyoung are very much treated as sub-vocalists most of the time, even if that's not their official title. If they improve their range, that might change. But at the moment, Jongho, San, Seonghwa and Yunho are on another level imo.
      Would it be nice to hear more of Yeo and Woo? Absolutely. But in a group where everyone is so talented, you really need to go above an beyond if you want to stand out and have more lines.
      I'm really sorry for Yeosang, please don't get me wrong. But we need to be objective. For example Mingi is my bias but I'm well-aware he's not the strongest vocalist. And even when it comes to rapping, he gets less lines now than he did at debut (again, the others were still trying to find their voices so the rap line led the group back then). But I love that he does something different with his voice and flow in every track nonetheless. He tries to shape himself to whatever it is that the song needs, and continuously tries to improve.
      But did he willingly decide to take a step back? To give the others more space? Maybe because of his anxiety? Or was it the producers that decided to give him less lines because of his hiatus? Is it discrimination? We could talk about theories all day long, but we'll never know for sure.
      The reality is that in such a talented group as Ateez is, you need to go above and beyond to stand out. And I don't think that Yeosang and Wooyoung are there yet. I truly say this with no malice at all. Mingi is my bias but I really like all of them (despite how much they bully Mingi all the time 😤 he can never catch a break). I just try to stay objective because losing our minds after all these theories helps nobody >.
