I love that at the New Zeeland one, you missed the banner almost in the middle that said "GE FREE NZ..." telling you it's New Zealand... 🤣 But you still got it
There's got to be something in that Africa photo that screams *West* Africa, but I didn't get it either. Being on the wrong coast of the African continent is just the worst possible score.
I only did the second set... my first attempt ever. 38,601 pts. 1 - 9995 had the year, 234.4 m away 2 - 4581 14 years off, 1141 mi in Lagos, Nigeria 3 - 9945 guessed 1983, 240.5 m away 4 - 4083 23 years off, 253,9 mi, made a guess between Stockholm and Oslo, was wrong. 5 - 9997 1963, thought it looked like an airport. 137.1 m off at Love Field in Dallas.
41.294 my first one, the bride race killed me, I placed it in South Korea. 37,671 the second one, I placed in Nigeria the African one and apparently I don't know when JFK was killed
Game 1: The running of the brides messed me up. Since everything was in English I guessed Singapore, and I was WAY off on what year the phones looked like that. Only 43,940 in total. Edit: Russian? Come on, they use Cyrillic! Game 2: Freetown messed me up. There was no clues. I know there are many people of Indian descent in South Africa, so I put it there. But yeah, I got 10000 on the London pic. Nice. 41,728, bad luck. Edit: There was a street sign and I couldn't find the right street in Wellington, but I found it in Auckland, so there I got it within *meters*. 😀 So I did better than you both times this time! Happy with that.
Round one: 42,568. The first two locations were easy, I also guessed Thailand and Greece pretty closely, but WAGed Sarajevo on the last one. Not particularly close. I am apparently pretty bad at dates, however, and I was particularly off on the last one. Round two: 40,271. Quite an easy round, really. NZ and Norway were ok, but the dates were off. I guessed Lagos for #2, and I was too early again. London, Falklands, a gimme. Dallas '63 was also a gimme, but I debated whether to go for downtown or Love Field. I chose wrong. Aargh. Should've gone for it. I grew up literally within walking distance of that airport.
You still seem to miss stuff, Norway was on a bridge, you didn't put marker on a bridge, Dallas looked like an airport you just plonked it in downtown Dallas. Both were close but you could give yourself the chance of slightly better scores.
I thought the same about London. There was a big house/building obscuring the view of Big Ben, and he could see it easily on the map. But it's also easy to overlook things. I was mostly surprised, because I've seen him do better before. :)
Got 44,276 on the first game, 32,437 on the second. Like you, I also got exactly 12 points on round 2 of game 2, although my guess was totally different. Over all I think you did pretty well, but sime hints from my side: Try to identify the kind of location the picture was taken in. Sinarta in Tokyo and the one in Dallas were pretty typical airport scenarios. If you have no idea where to find the airport of a city (or other large structures like stadiums), you can switch the map type to show satellite images, which can help a lot. Another thing is distiguishing languages by text. The Hungarian text you placed in Russia was pretty typical for Hungarian, while there weren't any Cyrillic letters you'd see in Russian. On the other hand, you did spot Sigma in Athens. It's also very helpfull if you can identify different Asian scripts
Game 1: 41037 - was less than 500pts off perfect after first 3 rounds. The last two killed me. Game 2: 44941 - furthest distance - 1040m - but the years killed me, the worst not knowing world history (US, engineer, not history buff) with 15 years off on the Falkland Island war.
Now that I have watched the video, I understand all the Africa comments. My game 2 did not have the Africa picture, but all the others were the same. Though I would have leaned west coast Africa in the mid to late 90s because of the Cobra poster.
First game went really well. 2 rounds with the right year, 2 rounds with 2 years off, one round with 6 years off (4th round). 3 guesses in right city (unfortunately missed perfect score in Paris, even tho I was on the right side of the tower, but bit too close), one round in right country and one round in somewhat right region (3rd round I guessed Hanoi instead of Bangkok, tho Thailand did cross my mind there). All in all every round was over 8.3k with a total of 45690. Second game didn't go quite as well. First round was 2 years off, but unfortunately guessed wrong city. Second round was really tough. I wasn't sure about the country at all, the text in the posters looked like it could be maybe Indonesian or Malaysian, but the lady looked African. I did eventually choose Africa, but I still had no idea on the country, was thinking between Nigeria, Kenya, Uganda maybe Tanzania. Ended up going with Uganda. Year was equally difficult to place. Guessed it had to be somewhere in the 80s based on Stallone, but couldn't have been more wrong :D The last three rounds went way better, managed to guess right year and city in all of them, even got one perfect round in 3rd. But that second round dragged my total down to 41101, which to be fair is still among my best games in Timeguessr. I'm not sure how you got Russia in round 5 of the first game. The text was pretty clearly written in Latin letters, not Cyrillic.
Mediocre 37370 + 35763 here, a few hundred short of Dan. I thought Bangkok was Manila, Athens was Chicago and Oslo was Copenhagen (never can remember those Scandinavian flags). The woman with the veggies on her head is clearly a West African type, I thought Lagos but should have realised the place looked a bit too sleepy for there. Great fun, keep 'em coming.
Round 2 my score 41383 I couldn't remember when the faulklands War started. I had no idea when jfk was assinated. Also, the second one was different for me
Well, in the round I did a wee bit better. Maybe few points here and there. Second round the Africa I was in South Africa. The one you said was Moscow. I chose Belgrade. In both cases I was several years off. Peace
Had a shocker in game 1 with 29,157. Game 2 I got lucky on image 2 get 1012 points but then screwed the image 3 by click submit but before moving the year. So 32,316.
First game, mostly terrible. total of 31,596, even with a perfect 10k on the Paris one (I was 16.2m away). I annoyed myself with the Greek one.. I saw the lettering on the poster and thought 'Well, that looks Greek', and promptly guessed at 'not-Greece'. I was thinking 'that's too easy, surely? it can't be... must be a neighbouring country'. Fool! I did figure the last one was more recent than the 50s/60s, based on the haircut on the girl, but was waaay off still; I was 13yrs off and had guessed at Switzerland. Ok, Game 2 was a good game for me. 46,907. I was 4, 1, 1, 5 and 1 yrs off respectively, and apart from the 1st one where I guessed Wellington, I was never more than 1.6mi off (the picture of Kennedy in Washington) Ok, that's odd... I had a different one for round 2. I had Kennedy in a park speaking to some people. I'd have been even wronger than you on the one you had. I'd have guessed India, assuming the other 2 posters to be Bollywood posters, but closer on year (a bit), I'd have guessed maybe late 80s. Round 3 was the same - I was 1yr out, but 60m closer (I figured it was the back of the HP). round 4 also same. ok, weird. why was 2 different? I'd guessed at 77, and was 1300m away. round 5. I was 1yr out and I figured it must be the airport... I just went too close to the entrance for 5k on the location.
First round = 39,161
Second round = 48,469 (by best ever) 😊
I love that at the New Zeeland one, you missed the banner almost in the middle that said "GE FREE NZ..." telling you it's New Zealand... 🤣
But you still got it
I just tried today's quiz - first time playing the game. I scored 40,084/50,000 which, I feel, is pretty good for a first time.
Fun challenge. 42,257 in the first game, 35,096 in the second.
Some of these are brutal.
The one in Africa could have been in the 80s when those movies were released.
There's got to be something in that Africa photo that screams *West* Africa, but I didn't get it either. Being on the wrong coast of the African continent is just the worst possible score.
I only did the second set...
my first attempt ever. 38,601 pts.
1 - 9995 had the year, 234.4 m away
2 - 4581 14 years off, 1141 mi in Lagos, Nigeria
3 - 9945 guessed 1983, 240.5 m away

5 - 9997 1963, thought it looked like an airport. 137.1 m off at Love Field in Dallas.
If it were Russia, the texts would be written in Cyrillic, wouldn't they?
Cool stuff, u beat me with a lot
Hope u will do more of this game, love it
GG
"Am i recording? Yes i am" GeoWizard reference? Lol
41.294 my first one, the bride race killed me, I placed it in South Korea.
37,671 the second one, I placed in Nigeria the African one and apparently I don't know when JFK was killed
My 2nd game had a different 2nd round ??
Yeah, mine too - it was JFK in Washington in 1961.
@@anthonydavey5126 same
Fair play on the 9,999 - I got 10,000 on one a short while ago. Doubt I'd ever do it again! You introduced me to this game, so thank you for that!
Haha my colleagues and I like playing this at work 😂
love the latest stuff dan keep rollin!

There is a game called Whentaken that is very similar to this one but harder. They don't put up pics with as many clues and the map isn't labeled.
Round one: 42,568. The first two locations were easy, I also guessed Thailand and Greece pretty closely, but WAGed Sarajevo on the last one. Not particularly close. I am apparently pretty bad at dates, however, and I was particularly off on the last one.

Norway was not on a bridge, it's the entrance to the parliament.
Am old enough to remember the Dallas Airport in the 60's: Love Field, and old-timers from that area still miss it. DFW opened in the 70's.
That African one being 2000! Wow!, I wouldn't of guessed any of those years, just wow!
Got 44,276 on the first game, 32,437 on the second. Like you, I also got exactly 12 points on round 2 of game 2, although my guess was totally different.

I enjoyed this version of geoguesser. Keep up the good work. Oh dear oh dear.
SciMan you the man!!
Great video - you did better than me on your worst round - me, wrong continent wrong decade just wrong. Grate fun thanks.
Game 1: 41037 - was less than 500pts off perfect after first 3 rounds. The last two killed me.

Missed some clues again Dan - two of the scenes were pretty clearly airports!
Ok relax p Diddy.
Haha! I just played several rounds before coincidently seeing this posted. Thanks for first introducing this game.
Love these. 45,782 game 1 and 38,900 game 2.
ok im playing this game. I had all locations.. my years were a bit off tho. I'm hooked even before playing the game.

First game 42173, second game 40278. That was fun.
You may consider it cheating a bit, but doing one of these in a live stream could be fun, with the chat shouting out guesses, too.
So fun! Thanks for these videos. Nice break from the other stuff sometimes. (but never stop the Flat Earth videos)
Running brides, as soon as you put photo up I saw Thai writing, guessed you missed that bit.
Some really good guesses, but you let yourself down by trying to go too quickly.
Love Timeguessr and Geoguessr!
43,133 first game - I got lucky a few times!
37,962 second game
OMG! I can't believe I beat you in both rounds! But rest assured: most of them were lucky guesses! Very lucky! Apart from Paris and Dallas.
Round 2 my score 41383 I couldn't remember when the faulklands War started. I had no idea when jfk was assinated. Also, the second one was different for me
Morning Dan, Happy Saturday
3190 game 1 went down hill after nailing Paris, was a tough one, 43,035 on second
Game 1, I did even worse with 36,317! Got the Greece one way off and went Russia, then placed the Hungary one in Turkey 😭
Well, in the round I did a wee bit better. Maybe few points here and there. Second round the Africa I was in South Africa. The one you said was Moscow. I chose Belgrade. In both cases I was several years off.
Peace
45635 on the first game. Well chuffed!
31812 in the second. Not so good.
WOW! 👍
I can't believe you don't know what the Russian alphabet looks like!
Really enjoying this game, not as much as the ordnance survey one though, when’s the new channel coming Dan?! 😄
Shouting AUCKLAND didn’t do any good 😂😂😂

2nd round......36,095. Would love to play you on GeoGuessr one day.
That's weird, the pic I got for second round was different (1961 Whitehouse)
Same.
Got lucy in the 1. game. The last location is from my home city. My score 46057. Second game 43,489.
Can’t believe you didn’t know JFK year 😮
First game, mostly terrible. total of 31,596, even with a perfect 10k on the Paris one (I was 16.2m away).

U should have left the year slider as it was already on 1962 lol. 😊

3: 9667
4: 6961
5: 9874
Cobra. Stallone & Jatimatic in poster.
40,298 first game, 44095 second game
Strangely the second image was different for me, it was JFK at some event.
Yeah!!! Born in 82 mf! Same as me.
You would want to see kyrillic alphabet in Russia, that was a brain fart....
9:00 must be my following of Ukraine to recognize Hungarian writing. But seeing authoritarian like imagery seems fitting in 2025 in the USA. 😐
G'day
You are rushing too much in this game. You need to relax and soak it all in.

Simon Dan this might be fun for you but it’s fucking boring for everyone else. Your views must tell you this….
