I think they should've just brought Store Championships back with invites instead of the half-assed Store Regional system. I'm part of 2 communities a couple hours apart from each other, and Store Championships were what got the communities to actually intermingle with each other. Even smaller communities near us would randomly show up because there was a Nationals invite on the line and/or people just wanted to prove who's scene was better. They gave everyone a reason to care about the game. When Store Championships came back last year without invites, no one cared, it just felt hollow. Alternatively when they opened up Nationals to everyone last year, no one wanted to go because it wasn't special like it had been before. That, and California's an expensive trip lol.
Mike making all the sense with the banlist go full bans! Have been saying early format on my locals etemon gonna be the best card but was on deaf ears Dan gets how nuts it is, store regional stuff my conspiracy is because of serial omni because its 500 copies to give out on NA so from the start bandai had a cap of 1 thousand invite
Whenever I hear y’all talk passionately about stuff like regionals and all this other stuff going on in the tcg makes me think if Bandai has people like y’all who really care just as much.
Etemon ex5 should be choice restricted. It should not be able to be used in any deck with ace cards or atleast valk ace, but It should still be available to use at 4 in the suka etemon deck. It is fair and fun in it's own deck
That speech from Adrian at the end hit hard. I feel the same way about Digimon that he did towards DBZ. I do love the franchise and card game and would love to see them continue it for years, I'm just pessimistic like you guys, which is why I'm also done with card games after Digimon. Mike was unhinged this episode and I'm here for it. It was so entertaining. Your podcast is A++ keep up the great work
Yea sometimes it's disheartening when you look at the reality of it all. But hey let's just ride this wave and continue to have fun building this community through playing and conversing. -Adrian
I think the maths that you're doing isn't accounting for Europe and other regions. Unless its 500 for each region, I'm pretty sure that its 500 worldwide. So the maths is a little more skewed
Bandai has great IPs and sometimes, like with the Digimon TCG they will do great things with them. But despite the game being so good they really don't know how to run it from a business stand point. For me if Digimon ends or they fuck up enough to put me off to buying new product, I will be done physically playing card games. I'll just stick to simulators.
That's a Lie considering Battle Spirits ( the original one ) was still Running TILL NOW . Also I think it's more of a Culture thing where in the east and Asia Regions Card games are more popular than the West . Considering the card games that died in the west ( Duel Masters , Digimon TCG the original and very old one and Battle Spirits ) thrive in Japan or/and Thrive in Asia . Duel Masters is also making a comeback in Asia cause they started selling the cards and pack here now in Malaysia
I could type a giant thing but I already did in a reply so I'll summarize Every deck is busted and cheats the memory system horrifically, pretty sure you'll never hear someone say Bandai is doing a good job with the game, and I hope Ragna tops a big event in NA
If every deck is busted wouldn’t that mean the game is balanced in its own way? lol There’s nothing wrong with strong decks, decks being better than others, tier 1, tier 2, rogue, etc. It’s what makes a card game. We’ve had very fun and balanced formats before. BT15 was a fantastic meta with lots of different decks topping. That was literally just last format. - Mike
Wait so you have a game that has gone to shit because they've gone insanely deep into power-creeping to absurd levels; almost every deck that is minimally able to be played competitive is absolutely braindead requiring 0 skill to win; they've introduced one of the worse gimmicks ever with the ACE and immediately made it brutally overpowered; it has gimmicks that are absolutely toxic to the game like Magna X or the dynamic of every deck having to either erase the entire board every turn or be immune to everything that exists; the company has absolutely 0 idea or intention of fixing any issues and install bans that make no sense; and a lot of other glaring issues... And the things you consider issues are... that the ACEs are not strong ENOUGH, that the United States store championships are not well distributed, and of the shit-ton of cards that should be banned, the one you have an issue with is etemon, because it fucks up your own overpowered decks? Holly molly
Yeah people will never admit it but they only want their deck to be good and everything else nerfed into the ground Anyone playing magna says it's fine and wants numemon demolished, anyone playing nume says ukko is fine and wants patamon restricted, anyone playing mirage says it's fine cause it is inconsistent then kill you on their third turn, and so on and so forth It's the way of every card game ever People pretend our game is some special thing where its sooooo unlike ygo, magic, etc without realizing it is the same as any other card game out for years: balance is fucked and company no care. (None of this is to be construed as me saying any deck is fine, or busted, just pointing out hypocrisy)
@@enigmaticheart666 I have an anecdote that totally reflects this. This was at the era in which Alphamon was the Top Tier 1 deck in the game. I was playing a complete meme deck that i had made for the lols, using the Venusmon line of applying negative Security checks, and i fought against alphamon in locals. I left him at only 1 memory, and he only had 1 rookie in the breeding, while i had a lvl 6 and something else on the table. By the time his turn ended, he had a lvl 7, had erased my entire board, demolished my entire security, became immune to almost everything, and he had won so much memory that it was still his turn When my turn came around, literally the only thing i could do was to evolve a rookie in breeding and use a Chaos degradation to survive one turn and maybe do something the next one. The dude was like "alphamon is immune". Then i told him that he wasn't because CD puts your digimon in security and alphamon ain't immune to that. The dude then, with all his holy guts, got angry and said that "that shouldn't be allowed, it's too overpowered"... i was like... REALLY, DUDE?, you put a lvl 7 on the table, deleted my entire board, destroyed my entire security and became immune to everything for ONE memory; i had to spend EIGHT memory only to take one of your dudes from the table, but it's MY cards that should be banned? Fucking really? Best part is won the game...
Entitled is a word…I agree that we do get a lot of things the rest of the world doesn’t, but that doesn’t refute any of our claims or feelings, nor make them any less valid, especially when we’re spending our money. - Varni
If anything, you guys should be complaining MORE about not being treated fairly. You’re calling us entitled when we’re both getting fucked by a multi billion dollar company.
@@DGU_Mike Oh we do, we let the distributors and Bandai know of our issues. The community here is sort of tight, MY and SG have similar issues as us especially with the prizes. Theres little progress, and sometimes none. But believe me, the US is getting better things compared to us. We complain, but US fans are simply terrible and entitled.
@@MrKikochan US fans are simply terrible and entitled? Got it. Your comments and opinions have absolutely convinced me and swayed me. Thanks for the contribution to our TH-cam comment section.
Explain how the US gets better things than you when it comes to digimon?? It sounds more like that we are all having issues when it comes to the lack of care from bandai about the card game. -Dan

Every time Varni starts talking about one piece I feel Dan’s pain. I can’t help but just tune out too lol
mike's comment "were bandai's side piece" got me listening to guts theme

I'd be interested in bringing the last few cards outside of apoc and garu X back and seeing if those decks change anything
Etemon ex5 should be choice restricted. It should not be able to be used in any deck with ace cards or atleast valk ace, but It should still be available to use at 4 in the suka etemon deck. It is fair and fun in it's own deck
my lgs got one of the store regionals which is hype but im not sure why only 8 stores got them in all of na
Microcenter really is gods holy land for nerds. literaly Built my entire computer from scratch with jsut stuff from microcenter
On Magnamon X, yes, that card is busted.
MagnaX sucks, but it won't get hit.
I beat magna with Garuru all the time actually o.o
Just prioritize stunning it so you can deal with it the next turn.

The Western side is probably the most spoiled and entitled Digimon TCG fandom. Guys get what most of us in some parts of Asia do not .
