Vedic astrology has special rules regarding the #conjunction of planets. if they are in the same sign, they are conjunct however if they get too close within 1 degree of each other they are in #PlanetaryWar or #Yuddha. only five planets can get into a planetary war- Mars, Mercury, Jupiter, Venus and Saturn. Closeness to the Sun creates combustion.

Thank you Komilla for another informative video. I've read several articles on planetary war and indeed there is no agreement on which planet is the winner. Highest degree, lowest degree, latitude, longitude, brightest planet, biggest planet. My personal experience is that the planet with the lowest degree is te winner. A dear friend of mine has Jupiter and Mercury in a war. Jupiter is her lagnaplanet. She suffers numerous physical healthproblems. She is very dharmic (9th house Jupiter)and religious, but her worldly concerns (avid reading) appear to overrule her pure faith and devotion, as well as her bodily constitution. There are of course more astrological factors (a.o. papakartari yoga), but the big influence of Mercury is truly remarkable.

I have a 3 planets less then 1 degree each other, one of then are Sun. Sun, mercury and venus in this order at 28'11 (venus) - 28'28 - 29'01 (sun) degress in taurus, and both are retrograde. How read this ?
I think the highest is slightly stronger but it becomes like the lower planet in the war. In fighting, you become like your enemies. In my chart I have Jupiter at 12'10 and Saturn at 11'47 in Virgo - both in the 4th house. My mother and father are both Virgo sun signs. Saturn certainly represents my strict authoritarian (abusive) father and Jupiter represents my more jovial and spiritual mother. Yet over the years my mother became more and more like my father. She became more materialistic and abusive as the years passed. I see that neither planets are winning. There is never a real winner in any war. If someone invades another person, even if their intention is benevolent (Jupiter) - it's still an invasion. The lesson for me was to climb out of the cycles of karma and dharma - because the real truth is even far beyond all religious teachings and gurus. The lesson for me was to go through intense suffering (Saturn) balanced by some abundance and optimism (Jupiter) to see that true liberation is beyond both suffering and happiness. I had both extremes butting up against each other my whole childhood in the form of my toxic parents. I learned to climb out of the cycles of craving and aversion through the intense suffering caused by my parental figures and the terrible power struggle between them. Hard times create strong people! I'm grateful now for the planetary war and how it helped me focus solely on the spiritual path in life.
Again, many thanks! I'm not an expert in Indian astrology. However, regarding Planetary War, I did learn to consider the lower degree as ''winner'', but always after some friction. Sometimes, it's possible that nobody really wins ''peacefully''

Dear komilla just bought your book of divisional charts. I started with the Nakshatra book and the vedic astrology essentials. In this book you give the example of Britney spears and how Venus rahu continue conjuct through several charts. I have mercury mars in virgo fifth house less than 3 degrees apart. These remain together through most of divisional charts. Mars is my atmakaraka and mercury my amatyakaraka. In navamsa they move to the 8th house and conjuct moon rahu still in virgo. Could you clarify the possible effects of this planetary war? Who would win the war because they are both my atmakaraka and amatyakaraka and mercury exalted mars debilitated. Both in chittra Nakshatra in the Laguna chart

Venus will be controlled by mars.
My point of view the higher degree wins & has more power, this I feel primarily from understanding Atmakaraka Planet & the how we place the strengths from highest to lowest. Oh well from my point of view, uncertain & If i'm wrong please enlighten me. Thank you.

Hi komilla - wouldn’t it be based on a few factors such as Depending on the time of day during birth, if it was morning, the planet closer to the sun would loose and it it was at night the planet closer to the sun would win ?
There is no planetary war with Sun , that is called combustion
The planetary war does not depend on time on birth - day or night. It is the distance between planets that decides the winner
Thank you for the reply - I wish I had a diagram to show you what I was saying. But in short the further away a planet is from the sun the more influence it gains .. at the same time the closer a planet is to the individual (natal chart center) the more influence it gains.
Does it have to be exactly equal or less than 1 degree? What if there's a gap of 1.1 degrees- could it still be planetary war?
It is 1 degree or less if it is even slightly more you have avoided the war but have it is a tight conjunction
What if Sun is exactly conjunct in the very same degree as Jupiter?
This is in the 1st degree of Libra my 4th house.
Does this mean Jupiter is without power in my natal chart?

No, combustion can only occur when a planet ius too close to the Sun and gets his energy 'burnt'. In conjunction their energies only get mixed.

It is still a tight conjunction
I then have Venus 11deg and moon 18deg in Navamsa in Aries
There are no degrees in the Navamsa.
I have a planetary war between venus(20:55 deg Cap) and saturn(20:05 deg Cap ) I am also an Aquarius rising and Aquarius sun, so Saturn is an important planet in my chart for many reasons. I feel like its hard to say which one is winning- it feels like they do an intense sort of dance. From birth until age 4 I thin they were kind of equal in weight- age 5 and 6 venus was winning- age 7 through age 18 my life was almost entirely saturnian. again Venus and saturn were sort of equal between ages 18 through 19. 19 going on 20 was very venusian. than i had a huge bout of self doubt depression(i.e saturnian phase) at 21 going on 22. and so on and so forth until now (I am 29). The saturnian phases seem to be more dominant- but the venusian phases are so incredible that they definitely have an equivalent intensity of joy and almost seem to compensate for the saturnian phases. Personality wise I am not sure which dominates- I think it depends on who you ask. By the way,. I also have had intense experiences with various kinds of spiritual, educational, and medical institutions- but these planets are also in my 12th house and they arent the only planets there- but i dont want to share my full chart with everyone.

Officially none of those names are used, it is amavasya and dark Moon . Though you could say it is both combust and conjunct

for me the higher degree planet wins the the war. i have saturn at 11 degrees and mars at 5 in the 12th. saturn wins even with mars in moolatrikona aries.
You have conjunction and not a war
For planets to be in war they should be within one degree of each other
