Me out last weekend in 30 gusting 40 kts on my 9m: I can't imagine being more overpowered while still being rideable. Me watching Sam send it in 55 kt gusts on an 8m: bruh
Sanding the flip-flops is a brilliant Sam Light video moment, so rad and so happily talking to his camera in 50 knots, my favorite kite vlogger, perfect brand ambassador for my favorite boards-Slingshot. Now I really want to try the RPX!
I only ever pump it up super hard when I know I'm going to be very overpowered, normally around 6-8 is good. Small kites need more PSI.. I can only vouch for Slingshot kites being able to handle the pressure.. Thanks!
It was sunny with 40 knots in Holland, with perfect waves, and of course I had no time to kite, would have been my first heavy storm session with effortless 10+ maybe 15 meter jumps but I was stuck at home I’m gonna go cry now bye
I saw the depower fully in when he launched, “of course” I thought. AND STARTS RIPPING The gentleman kiteboarder. I sure as hell wouldn’t go out. And I definitely would do it with a camera in my mouth.
Extreme brillant footage! Sorry for asking (from a not yet gopro owner): which Gopro did you use and how did you make those "third persons view" shot? ( and what accessory is needed for that ?)
3rd view is with the gopro max or insta360 and using a mount on the harness. check other videos from jeremie tronet or reno romeu they put links to the mounts as well i think
Epic! Been out in that Wind yesterday too. Hard stuff when the 50+ knots rolled over and noone was jumping for 20 minutes :) Anything you recommend for dealing with the fear to fully sent it in such winds? I´m rather heavy and fly a 7m rarely. Afraid to loop it due to its speed.
Don't think about what could go wrong, just focus on what is in front of you, calculate risk and how much to send it. Confidence comes from experience and gradually pushing your limits i.e. start looping in light wind and slowly build it up into strong wind, but sometimes you just have send it! No hesitation
I wanted to go out in Germany yesterday on my 7m... no sir 😆 good thing that someone was holding me down. Why do you hook into semi-suicide mode in such conditions Sam? Is it because of accidental releases of the chicken loop?
Wouah! 😎 with a 8m! I better understand why I have got some issues of reverse folding of my 7m kite as a closed shell under very big gust, the bladder still under pressure avoiding the kite to come back to its normal side🥴(probably with not that much gust than your session!). I will then push my pump up to 12psi but I am no sure it will pump that up! 🤓In addition it is better to have a very clean shore to enter the sea, without any hidden rock as it was probably impossible to not be pulled horizontally on your feet as soon as kite did fly...(???)
@@SamLight it is an old Best Kahoona 7.5m2 (2013) with 4 latte but no central one, which give a chance to the Leading edge to return on itself by the middle, and stay blocked on this wrong position. I am not sure that a very strong pressure will avoid this behavior but lack of pressure was always an issue on this kite🥴!
Why would you take an 8m kite when a 5m kite is enough? Seems just plain stupid to me. Just hope none of the regular mortals will try to copy you and get themselves or somebody else seriously hurt. Bad example and unprofessional.
Not really agreeing with you on this one... Since accidents tend to happen on the way down, and not up... I found I was safer on a little bit bigger kite because they tend to drop you softer than the smaller ones, and the steering is not as aggressive which helps easing out the kite control in gnarly conditions... and if you get the timing right... and the gust hits... 👌🏼 but each his own I guess... some like it bigger, some smaller...😝 didn't fancy the blade remark too much though, that seemed unnecessary.
what can I say, I enjoy pushing the limits! I have ridden my 8m in those conditions plenty of time before and I was confident I could handle it. I often take a kite much larger that a 'need' because its fun being on the limit. It's important everybody is aware of their capabilities, plonkers will be plonkers, myself included... 😄
Safer to watch your video than go out myself yesterday! Looks insane
so did you find your shoes again after the session?😜
you know its windy when you have to bury the flip flops!
I guess Im kinda off topic but does anyone know of a good website to stream newly released tv shows online?
Sick... just a little over powdered on the 8. Huge air.... 👊🙏👊

yewwww, you know its windy when you need to bury the flip flips!
Always love the grimey DnB tracks!
Absolutey outrageous.
LOL @ the blade comment - yep, my old ones were jellyfish, couldnt pump them hard enough.
hahah savage! "that's what you get for buying a blade kite" so funny
8m is insane! Well done.
Mate. You are standing right beside my bus! Cheers!
Inspiring + fantastic footage + commentary, as usual. Thanks Sam. 🪂😊
Guessing that was Friday, carnage! Awesome to watch
More action than any bond movie.
12 psi omg that's a looooot.
That's a lot of kite to hold down ... nice one mate!
Just watched "Army of the Dead" right before this and I found this a lot more terrifying to watch.
Incredible session, we had the same unexpected strong and gusty wind in north of France last week !
I didn't know you can pump up to 12 psi your kite, never passed 8 so far. It was fun to watch. Loved it, keep it up buddy. Cheers.

50 knots on an 8m.....what could go wrong?
I was right on the limit!!
Nothing. Not even the need for helmet and impact vest, no worry. It’s like for everything, protection are only for newbies.
@@Ploz5555 I thought I heard crathen saying that one time....lol
woohoo! wow that was windy
Take that back! Blades are good kites for average bloks.
Thx Sam for the amazing videos
Awesome Sam that was sick man wish i could join ya .See ya back in cape town my man have a good one .
i'm holding my breath everytime you send it.. :D sick vid as always, hayling is such a great spot
Is really great fun watching you
Damm FULLLSENDDD!!!
Yeaa sick dude!! Nice to know the RPX can handle that high psi - I ride it myself too 😎🤟
Insane hang-time! Love it!
I live my 8m rpm but I think RPX is my next purchase!
Only real pros such as yourself can make the most of those conditions!
Dude! That was epic!
dope session Sam!!!! respect
So jealous man awesome vid
Yes ! A new vid !
Absolutely love the videos this has motivated me to book some more lessons at hayling island (not so I can fly) but kite
Great work
Hayling Island is the best spot on its day! Just need to get the tides right..
Some air my boi👌🏾👌🏾
I was out on a 6m² core xr today at Büsum at about 25kn😂
The wind was so strong it broke my camera while filming from the shore, insane stuff!
How does Sam hold his go pro? Good footage if he is just biting down on the floater!
haha thanks for the clips!
i use the go pro bite mount with no float
@@SamLight full commitment with no float 🤣 do you have a leash or anything attaching it to your wetsuit no?
Nice

I drove al the way from italy and got stuck in traffic…..
ahh noooo traffic before the session is the worst
Big kahunas!!!
Awesome looking session Sam what was you Gopro 9 settings for that POV session please 🤙💢
How does he hold his go pro?
I use the bite mount with no float. 2.7k 60 fps super view
@@SamLight go pro bite mount or another type?
Bis milah cool man
Reminds me of my 40+ Knots Session in Penghu, was quite overpowered on my 5m , wondering how you handle those strong winds
Well is a pro ;)

Made me nervous watching you with those poles downwind
Wouaouh !!!!!! 🤪
Which boost better? The machine or the RPX? Which catches you better in the loop? Cheers
Extreme brillant footage! Sorry for asking (from a not yet gopro owner): which Gopro did you use and how did you make those "third persons view" shot? ( and what accessory is needed for that ?)
I have got a gopro 9 and a bite mount and it works perfect!
3rd view is with the gopro max or insta360 and using a mount on the harness. check other videos from jeremie tronet or reno romeu they put links to the mounts as well i think
I'm using the sail video system with a Go Pro 360, check it out here: www.sailvideosystem.com/products/3rdpersonview-lite-all-in-one-v2
the 360 go pro and the 3rd person shot is super cool but also a lot of 'faff', go pro 9 and POV bite mount is much easier and more versatile
Bro I was riding my 7m Blade High Score on just about 30+knt and experienced what you have been talking about a blade kite😅
Nice Bro! 🤙
What wind speed range do You think is best for enjoying, not surviving?
You have to many windy, and we don't have it at all :( 😔😭
how do you keep getting upwind to send those huge jumps
CRA-ZY! Keep it up, man !
Yeahhh 🔥🔥🔥
yewwww

Use a smaller bar then it reacts slower i own a 7 ozone c4 kite also kite in storm 50+ 110kg i use a 23m lines and 45cm bar and it just reacts as a 9m

Nice one Sam! Curious on why you didn’t use a Woo or similar device to measure height?
naa i don't like height measurement devices, in my experience they are inaccurate and too much faff, i don't need to measure my fun 😄
Magical
Absolut massiv 💪🤪🤙
Hi Sam! Is it a matter of weight or muscles to hold the edge at such wind? I can't ride my 7m Rally when it's over 30 knots, but I weight only 60 kg
It's a lot of technique using your board and power in your legs to control the power and drive the kite to the edge of the window
Nice fighting!
Was that the 17" or the 20" Sentry X on the 8m2 RPX?
Yikes! Far too calm for after that session. I’d be doing jump kicks after surviving that
Holy shit 😱😱😱
VOLT!!!
savage
I wanted to go out in Germany yesterday on my 7m... no sir 😆 good thing that someone was holding me down. Why do you hook into semi-suicide mode in such conditions Sam? Is it because of accidental releases of the chicken loop?
haha, this is my go to leash setup as my kite still flags out if I use the quick release but i am still able to unhook
Me weighing 53kg on a 9m in 55knots ended up in hospital😂
Wouah! 😎 with a 8m!

a lot of people don't pump their kites hard enough. i think around 8 psi is fine, 12 psi is a bit too much, what kite is it?

Sick video! What happened at 3:37 ?
Just dropped out the sky! When the wind is that strong there is always a risk of that happening as the wind is so gusty
@@SamLight Glad it went well, at first i thought you didn't want to land on the wave for fear of crashing
Blade kite lol
Where is the 360 cam footage that first Clip was mental
Hayling Island! Cool isn't it
I meant why was it not used more in the video. That angle is so cool
