I want to just appreciate that at no point throughout the video ANYTHING was done to lighten this girls skin tone! I love it! I'm pretty sure this is the first time I've ever seen a darker skinned model not have a single product 5 shades lighter put on her face! Props to the mua
I was thinking the same thing😲 ... i always have that problem when i go to get make up am brown skin color and always end up washing my face because they makeup is to pale for me .... 😕
I do agree overly lightening dark people or darkening pale people is weird and for some reason is done a lot. However high lighting center parts face is okay.

You clearly have never looked enough. (Which you dont need too) there are PLENTY and I mean Plenty of MUA's of color who use their shade when putting on foundation. If you are talking about lightening a skin tone you must mean their concealer. Most makeup artists use a lighter shade under the eyes and on the forehead to appear brighter and or dewy. Also some makeup artists in your eyes may be using a lighter shade because they're are insecure but in actuality it's because they have a lot of discoloration and it's hard to match the dark on their skin
Check out youkeyys video on "Doing my makeup as the TH-cam comments tell me" (not the exact videos name but similar) her video is a perfect example.
Love how she's kept her dark skin color. Lots of people are lightening themselves. And those make up skills...top notch.
