Technically saying it should be “reacting to dekus ancestor” or “past life” since tanjiros timeline is in the late 90’s i think and dekus timeline is like, 2030+
I'm sorry if this seems rude I've tried many times to word this as nicely as possible, but it doesn't work so I'm just going to say it. Demon Slayer does not take place in the 90s it takes place in the Taisho Era of Japan which spanned from 1912 to 1926.

If it was set in the 11 hundreds, they wouldn't have electricity nor the suits they have, or the advance materials they do in the anime.
