The Haunting of Scraper's Lane. Todmorden Folklore.

Old Scraper is a 'Jacob Marley' style ghost who is said to haunt a path above Meadow Bottom in Todmorden called 'Scraper's Lane'.
A church goer, responsible for collecting the congregation's collection each week, one day Scraper succumbed ti temptation and took the collection for himself.
Punished in death, Old Scraper is destined to haunt Scraper's Lane for his sins, unseen but heard, the iron clogs and metal chains around his tortured soul are said to still scrape the lane to this day.....and only the destruction of the lane would ever remove him from his bondage.
First appearing in writing in 1896, is Old Scraper a piece of folklore, or a figment of the authors imagination?

Thank you so much for these videos. I basically have had to hunt this channel down and days of horror channel in order to find out things about lancashire/west Yorkshire other than the pendle witches: I would be classed as a tourist that lives in Lancashire. I've lived here 3 years and from a tourists perspective: I feel like the witches of pendle and nothing else has been pushed onto me to the point I've thought well there's got to be other legends, myths, folklore and tales of paranormal etc from here. So please don't stop doing the videos coz I've learnt loads and loads about the area other than the pendle witches. 😊 thank you so much for making them. 😊
I will be honest: I have sort of got sick of just hearing about the pendle witches and nothing else when there's got to be more to the area than just them is the truth. No offence to your history of your beautiful county. But that is the truth of it.
