WW2HistoryHunter brought me here, because I was amazed at the amount of concrete the Germans poured. I Googled it and found this channel. Awesome. It's nice you gave a shout out to him around the 40 minute mark.
Another great video! Thanks! The entire east coast of Sweden used to have bunkers and artillery fortifications during the cold war. They were very well hidden.
Tino Struckmann: The David Attenborough of military engineering? Asking questions ans seeking the correct answers. Love the work and the enthusiasm. I also like that, unlike "non-military-trained" taking heads, this bloke understands tactics and weapons capabilities; an important factor.. YAY!!
Tino, amazing video very informative thank you again for the effort you put into this channel, which I think is very underrated, can’t wait for the Q&A!!
sorry to be off topic but does anyone know of a way to log back into an Instagram account? I was stupid lost the account password. I would appreciate any tips you can give me
@Cristiano Ramon I really appreciate your reply. I got to the site through google and I'm in the hacking process atm. I see it takes quite some time so I will reply here later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
I always wondered how they built such massive underground structures. How do you pour a concrete ceiling? If shallow enough, you build at the bottom of a pit then backfill but some of these bunkers are too deep for that. Boreholes? Manually shove concrete over a frame?
Tino you would make a great high school or college military history teacher. I always learn something new when watching you and I have been studying the ETO for almost 60 yrs. Have you ever considered doing a video about the July 20th plot ? A distant relative of mine said, "We took upon ourselves this deed to protect Germany from a nameless misery. It is clear to me that I shall be hanged for it, but I do not rue my deed and hope that another, in a luckier moment, will undertake it."
I would love to teach history but I'm afraid that Living in America teaching truthful history will just offend somebody somewhere it seems these days the trend is to rewrite history for political games and I've seen what they teach the kids it is such a distorted version of events that I would not be able to look myself in the eyes if I had to teach according to their textbooks as they stand, I could do something on the July 20th plot I know the grandson of one of the plotters I will look into that one thank you happy Fourth of July :-)
@@tinostruckmann I totally agree with you about teaching truthful history will just offend somebody. As Abraham Lincoln once said, " History is not history unless it is the truth." I will be sending you a email about my interest in the July 20th plot and another possible video you could do.
Tino Von Struckmann Hey can you tell me the history and meaning of jutland beacuse here in north india there are people who call themselves jut or jat and there ethnicity is different from indians.
@@ND-ys3lo Jutland is the peninsula that makes up the majority of Denmark it was named Jutland after one of the most powerful tribes of the Iron Age called Jyder
Tino Von Struckmann Here in Northern india these people served in British army and some fought from hitler’s side, British army raised first jat regiment in 1795.(now there are 24 battalions of jat in indian army) Some of them has similar surnames as european people. Nice to hear from you.
With so much metal being used to make tanks, canons, rifles, bombs, trucks, engines, ships, subs, barbed wire, it is astounding there was enough metal for the tons and tons of rebar needed for bunker building. This presentation is very useful for us modern bunker builders. ?Is 40 m deep good enough for modern engagements???
Well you are designing your bunker against a specific threat most modern bunker builders for survivalists will not have to face Naval shell fire or direct bombing, so logistix storage end supply is probably more important then walls eight feet thick certainly you would want shell protection from Direct gun fire every gun fire fire smoke tear gas so we're certain amount of cement and rebar perhaps with steel plate inserts would be recommended depth may not be as important as concealment but always look at what you're expected threats are and design accordingly :-)
@@tinostruckmann , you're right about what threat to defend against and my crystal does not respond. But I'm thinking food shortages due to viral deaths and climate changes and that would take an enormous effort involving a lot of dedicated people. While stationed in Germany I visited a lot of these bunkers on the Siegfried Line. Most all were half way destroyed. I had heard the French filled the bunkers with water and dynamited them. Is this true?

Could it be, that the Westwall is a little bit underestimated? I mean, the americans had some problems to penetrate the defensive line... And the french army had also some respect, so they didnt attack!
Excellent episode.
After watching the greatest story never told, david coles documentary, and hellstorm I have a whole new outlook on WW2.

Very interesting video. I'm a building contractor and i always wondered how the germans managed the building of the Atlantiwkall.
Just wait for my new documentary on the Ostwall - Ive never seen anything like it
your great buddy keep up the good work thanks..
Even nowadays bunker buster missiles can not destroy these bunkers I am sure.

Well they did have some very heavy going there, also due to the forests and terrain. I am headed that way so we will see.
