Thanks for watching! Below are Lures recommendations , Tactics Bait etc for the common species found at the Jordan Dam tailrace.
**The best tactic here is Live shad or minnows floated under a cork , bigger shad , minnows for Stripers etc and smaller for Crappie, White bass etc. The next best is jigs sized for the fish under a popping cork. ***

Stripers- Best Months - March, April, May. Float shad or shiners under Bobber or Cast Minnow baits , Rat l traps, swimbaits ,topwaters , flukes. Best lures- Chug Bug, Pop R , Zara Spook, Zoom Fluke etc.
White Bass- Best months - March , April , May, June - float minnows under cork or cast mini traps, teeny traps, tiny torpedoes, shallow shad rap 5's etc.
White Perch- best Months February, March- double hook dropper rigs with worms or tiny pieces of cut bait or Crappie Jigs.
Crappie- February- June- Float small minnow under cork or small jigs under cork. Cast small crappie jigs or Roadrunners.
Catfish- best Months April-November. Cast Live bait under corks or cut bait.
Bottom fish with Carolina rig and flat weight below drop. Bait - live or cutbait shad, bream crappie etc.

no skipjack east of the eastern contiental divide.....so if a river flows to the atlantic there are no skip jack.
How do you get to this fishing spot by land?
jsut look up Jordan dam rd near Moncure NC. the road dead ends at the dam.

Hey Mack, is this the dam below Jordan Lake that continues into the cape fear river? If so I’ve fished there many times from my boat and caught bass, catfish, bowfin, crappie, etc. Never any stripers or hybrids. Do I need to be right next to the dam for that? Great video, just finished it, would love to get some more info on how to catch stripers/hybrids from a boat out there
Hello, you are not supposed to go up to the dam in a boat ...you can't because of a small rapid and the army Corp of engineers has signs on each side stopping boats from going any further up. Also the boats that ignore the sign sometimes get lead chunked at them from bank fishermen. It's like taking a boat close to a pier in saltwater. They will start chunking lead at you. For the Stripers float shad 2 feet under a cork. Cast up towards the spillway and let it drift down ..repeat.
@@MackinNC1 Hey Mack, I appreciate the reply big time. Yeah wouldn’t want to get my boat that close to the dam/rocks anyways. Would I have any luck doing the float/cork technique for stripers a couple hundred yards from the dam?
@@troyroberts7364 some luck maybe but not as much...closer to the dam the better or just below the first drop.

Been heading out to the Washington/Greenville area to do my striper fishing the last couple weeks but that drives killing me. Gonna get all different sized minnows on cork rigs and go up near the dam try my luck. Great videos, keep it up

Can you fish the lake side of the dam?
Yes,not from a boat but from the bank is ok....you have to walk down s lot of riprap though.....I got one good spot there.
