I work cashier at a grocery store with a coinstar. Whenever someone brings me a coinstar slip i ask if they have any rejects. I preface the situation that im a coin collector and the coins im looking for are rejected by the coinstar. Most of the times, yeah they'll show me their rejects. Majority of the time its just chewed up and corroded coins but every now and then they'll have a silver in their rejects. I offer em a dollar for it regardless of denomination. I've had 100% success when offering a dollar. So far, ive bought 2 Rosie's, 2 mercs and a Washington quarter. The way i see it. They make a buck, i makes a few more. Everyones happy
Nickels and Cents are my favourite to hunt.. I often find ‘59 and older coins when I’m hunting nickels and cents .. quarters and dimes older than ‘65’s are rare as hens teeth lol ..
@@GASilverHuntermost of the silver quarters and dimes that I’ve found in the wild have come in as payment for a low end bottle of liquor while cashiering lol .. someone raided gramma’s coin jar I think!!
I do too... except for like 4 of the dime rolls I had. I didn't show any in the video but they were DISGUSTING! Looked like they had been sitting in a pool of water for 10 years. So bad you could hardly read the dates off them with a scope.
Good hunt GA! I had two brand new boxes of 2023 halves to start my half hunting journey several months ago and then I ended up with a delay in hunting due to shoulder surgery for 2 months. I just started again 2 weeks ago and my 1 box each week found nothing. This week, got my next box and got a 1980 proof, 4 40%ers and 1 Benji so far through 5 rolls!!! I'm hoping the rest of the box goes this well! :) My nickel hunt this week also gave me a 1910 Liberty Nickel! Maybe it's birthday luck since my birthday was Friday, but man what a weekend of hunting!
Love the V Nickels. Glad you are finally finding things. I know a lot of people get discouraged if they don't find silver in their first box or two and start calling all us TH-camrs liars. The reality is that its just like lottery tickets. You might get lucky on the first one. It might take you 10 in a row, but eventually you will find a winner.
@@GASilverHunter UPDATE: Got back to finishing my box as I got busy: 24 total 40% Kennedies, 2 90% Kennedies, the 1 Benji, 5 NIFC's, 2 Proofs, and 1 gold plated Kennedy with an Elvis 30 year something sticker over it that's like a hologram. INSANE BOX!
Will do! Thanks for the reminder! I am actually going to pull any of the coins out of this album and the steelie and put it in the Albums I am filling from my hunt and fill series.
Great customer wrap hunt congratulations on 4 40% silver half dollars and a silver dime and a silver war nickel and steel penny and other finds thanks for sharing GA silver hunter
My bank (the only one locally that sells boxes of pennies and nickles) is implementing a 3% box purchase fee and a 3% loose coin fee... they will not accept customer wrapped. Ugh. My days of hunting are over.
@@bukboefidun9096 At least for pennies, the 3% fee isn’t too bad. It’s just $1.50 per box, but definitely annoying. I would try to open an account at another bank and find a friendly staff
@JJJRRRJJJ NE PA... plenty of banks but none that will sell boxes unless I open accounts (I do have 3 banks with accounts)... even then none will redeem loose coins and wrapping is a pain (especially pennies). Even the bank with the 3% fee won't waive fees despite the accounts I have with them. One of my other banks will call me if they get in a possible good customer dump, but that's only once every 3 or 4 months. One time 2 years ago they called with $300 in customer wrapped... they turned out to be 147 BU nickle rolls. Solid rolls nearly every date and regular mint mintmark from 1959 to 1990. Just a few odds and ends to round out the 120 nickles I sent back. Still have them, not sure what to do with them
Another fine, educational, and fun time is fixing to be had here in this video. BYW... is there any value to those old coin folders ? I have at least 10 or so I got when I purchased a collection from someone at work.. They are all beat up and have pen marks in them from past collector's coins.
I mean everything is worth something to somebody. I am the kinda person that will try to get these as cheaply as possible. Others may care about how old they are and buy it to match the folders they started with a long time ago. Those folks may pay a bit more.
I am seeing it a little bit all over the place. I haven't sold in awhile but looking at various online dealers, Reddit, Facebook, etc. People generally get melt or better. Some offer at under melt to move metals more quickly. Online dealers are always selling over spot.
@@GASilverHunter mine is also a 9030 but instead the Whitman logo it says No. 9030 in the lower left ..it does not have a penny image either and it says Lincoln head cent not Lincoln cent nor does it have something in the upper right hand corner
Lincoln cents aren't 100% copper. So it makes it hard to melt them down and recycle them cuz they're going to be regarded as number two copper so you actually will get less than a penny per penny
@@GASilverHunter usually when I hear a production cost that includes not just the material but labor transport. But I guess I stand corrected I thought they where 85% copper. But I guess even not that they're still worth more.
The 2.63 cents is not the production cost... thats what the copper is worth in a 1982 and earlier penny based on today's copper melt price. The production cost would be even higher.
All the change was from his dead Grandmother, you should have gotten there before he dumped the wheat pennies, the old Jefferson nickels and all the copper 60,70 and 80 pennies. Just find out who the bank has roll the change and distribute them to. I would had said dimes, quarters and halves but silver doesn't seem to pass the coin machine.
I bet there was a ton of wheaties and old nickels. The coin machine did kick the 2 silver coins and the steelie I showed you. I am sure that stuff will make its way back through the region eventually.

Well... I wouldn't say stealing, but the uninformed are often happy to get anything more than they thought something was worth.
forgot old jeff nickels unless war nickels, all worthless-try selling 1949 nickel at a coin show.
They're fun to collect. Selling them individually or even by the roll, unless in SUPER high grade, is nearly impossible. Don't disagree.
